Title: Need Advice

Well, one or so years ago when Battlestar was still in the early stages of Season 1, I became an avid fan of the show.
I am also part of a Maintenance unit within the Canadian Army and of course I immediately identified with Cally and The Chief, but I took it one step further and proceeded to get my ENTIRE Army unit hooked on the show and MANY of them have stated that they think Nikki Clyne is "the hotness", so we would like to send her some fan mail, but we want to send her something from the Maintenance community, but I wasn't sure what would be appropriate.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
I was thinking of sending her a toy wrench since they call us in the maintenance professions "Wrench Benders" and attach a picture of the maintainers (myself included) who are very big fans of hers.
So I was wondering, what would be good to send?

Wow! Now thats just cool. Real knuckledraggers sending fictional knuckledraggers fan mail, life and art intermingling that really poetic way that shows just how BSG is a reflection of our world. I would definitely send a picture, maybe behind whatever it is you guys fix. What do you guys fix btw? I like the toy wrench idea. Though I really don't know what to suggest, mostly cause I'm a college student with no mechanical know how, but I just have to say that it is really cool that you folks would do that. Keep up the good work.

Our Electrical and Mechanical Engineers are focused in two different areas, Weapons and vehicles. In weapons we inspect, repair and maintain all small arms within the Canadian Forces, in vehicles it's the same job only with 2 ton trucks and up to tanks.
I'm in weapons myself. But it's the same job as if we were maintain the CF-18's, they just take a lot more precise work.

The toy wrench idea is very cute. :P That or an "unused prewrapped" toothbrush. I think a photo of your group would be the best idea along with a fan letter.

Nothing else? I was kind of hoping to give her something to make her feel like an honourary member of the maintenance/Combat Service Support community.

I don't have a "service" background so I don't think I could offer ideas that are relevant to your unit. Hopefully someone else can help.

Maybe you could all get behind a tank, holding wrenches and wearing your technician's gear. That would be pretty nifty... I always imagine Tyrol's deck gang would take a pic behind the Blackbird, prior to its accident. Oh, you could send a little insignia of your unit with it, not like a patch, but just a poster or something. Other than that I'm not too sure... Yet again, I'm not experienced in these things.
