The nomination process for the 2nd Annual Golden Toaster Awards has begun

Not sure what the Golden Toaster Awards are all about?

The Golden Toaster Awards are online fan awards for Battlestar Galactica, spanning the entire online BSG community. Ron Moore himself has expressed that he will take part in them, as will the delightful “Mrs. Ron”, Terry Dresbach.

You can now start submitting who YOU think should be nominated in the categories our planners have devised. There's also some fun new awards this year.

The categories are:

Most Shocking Moment - what made your eyes pop out of your head or your heart skip a beat
Best Dramatic Moment - drama, thy name is BSG... but what was the BEST dramatic moment of BSG?

Most Under-Appreciated Character
Best New Character

Team GTA has already made up a list of nominees for Best Actor/Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, and Best Guest Actor/Actress categories, after much debate over who was a Supporting or Guest character this year, or which characters who were only Guests last year had advanced to Supporting status this year (i.e. Richard Hatch as Tom Zarek was a Guest last year because he was only in two episodes, but both his appearances and his role on the series have increased to much (yay) that we have advanced him to Supporting Actor status. Several other characters were shifted around between Guest and Supporting for the 2nd Annual GTA awards. Anyway, “Best Actor” and “Best Supporting Actor” categories are locked now. We also have a very thorough list of all Guest characters (based on the exceptionally good information at BattlestarWiki.org), but in case we missed someone you liked feel free to add them (though we really covered everyone thoroughly, you’ll most probably find that the person you want is already on the list).

We have also introduced a new set of "technical awards" which will not be handed out during the ceremony itself, but (like Oscar or Emmy technical awards) will be announced during the "red carpet" lead up to the main awards ceremony. And the "non-televised" portion of the show for tech awards, these include but are not limited to:

Best Costume
Best Makeup
Best Set Design

(These technical awards will of course be awarded to the makeup technicians, costume designers, etc. on the show, but for example "nominees" for makeup will be specific episode makeup appearances, i.e. "Baltar in Fragged", "Gina in 'Pegasus'", "dying Roslin in 'Epiphanies'", etc.)

The nomination period will last for about one month. After the nominations have been compiled at the end of this time period, the voting process will begin. Voting will also last roughly one month (you cannot vote more than once, it’s not an online poll, it’s a write-in vote and we check IP addresses).

After the votes have been tallied, we will hold our 2nd Annual Golden Toaster Awards Show on the HangarDeck5.com messageboard.

(We don’t hold them on the official Scifi.com messageboards, because they are so poorly Moderated by the “Administrator” that malicious posters could easily disrupt it if it were held there).

There are even rumors/ideas being tossed around, that after the messageboard awards show has ended, we will write up a script and turn it into a fan film (kind of like “Ringers: Lord of the Fans”) to be presented to the season 3 cast wrap party. Just in the experimental phase now though. We’ll also mail printed out versions of the awards to the Vancouver production offices to be handed out to the winners.

GTA nomination ideas! Lets ban together! Here's what I thought of so far. Actually many Cally moments fit into different categories. I am sure I am forgetting stuff but this is off the top of my head:
