Title: Ron Moore Loves Cally!
Description: Pod Cast
Solium - October 14, 2006 12:11 AM (GMT)
From Occupation/Precipe Pod Cast.
Ron Moore's said, (Paraphrasing) " I love Cally!"
He is referring to Nicki's performance and Cally's scene with Sharon. In general he loves her sassy, tough, little girl attitude. :dancingbunny: :cornmuffins:

OMG, this is scary, I just read Steelviper's
transcript of the "Precipice" podcast a minute ago.
Yeah, I love how Ron's not just writing sweet scenes for Nicki, but also enjoying Cally's bad ass and "Crazy Faces" moments. ;)

Act 3
RDM: This is a fun scene, too. This is like Cally, God, you've gotta love Cally. She's like... just this little wisp of a nymph of a girl, and she is like just such a fireball. One of her first episodes she was biting the ear off of a prisoner-
Terry: It's true.
RDM: (Laughs.) -on the Astral Queen. It's a gun shot.
Terry: It's like seeing your sister in these insane circumstances.
RDM: I know. She's so hard core. I just love Cally. (Laughs.) She's just somethin' else. And now put her in the detention center, and she's just gonna get in Sharon's face. "Frak you, Sharon, you stupid frakked up toaster." And Tyrol married her. Just remember that. What does that say about Tyrol? (Laughs.) These are the two women in Tyrol's life.
Terry: Oh, that's true. I forgot. That's right.
RDM: The Cylon and Cally. Yeah, that's them. Those are the women that Tyrol-
Terry: Some men like their women feisty.
RDM: Some women- like really strong, feisty women. What kind of strange men are they?
Terry: I have no idea.
RDM: (Laughs.)
Terry: Masochists, clearly.
RDM: Some men are just damaged and need help.
Terry: (Laughs.) |

Yeah, but you know Ron Moore loves all his children the same. lol. They did sound like they really loved her character on the podcast though. They also talked about how much they love Anders which I was glad to hear cos I've been saying from the start that Anders is a STUD!

Well they put Cally through a lot as a character... Like anything bad that can happen to her does happen. I won't list it cause everybody already knows, but the rape incident, the Boomer shooting, and the whole kidnapping in the dead of the night really do screw with you. I was kind of struck at how her screams for baby Nick made me cringe... You don't take mothers away from their babies ever.
I'd say the best commentary is on the Season 1 disk for Bastille Day, where Moore and Eick explain how they wanted Boxey to develop but instead realized Cally was far move viable. Now she actually gets to do more things in the episodes.

Yes Vipertech, in that same B-Day podcast he said he thought Cally was "Part of the fabric of the show itself" now.

I found that quite interesting. As much as I love that they are developing Cally much more, its dissappointing that they dropped Boxey to do it.
Its been a long, long time since I witnessed any of the original BSG but I was hoping to see Boxey with his awesome space bear/dog (whatever it was called).
To be honest dropping Boxey doesn't really bother me. I just wanted the space bear/dog to make an appearance.

Your speaking of the Dagget! LOL Cylon name for a "dog" I think the animals name was Muffet.
In the original Boxey's dog died on Caprica during the Cylon attack. On Galactica they made a robot dog to replace the one he loved. Of course it was a chimp in a suite in real life. :P
Edit: Not Cylon name for dog. Colonial name for dog.

It doesn't seem like they dropped Boxey becasue of Nicki's character, but rather that they just couldn't find a place in the show for Boxey, and Cally, Helo, and Crashdown (as well as the Chief and a host of others) were the ones who created their niche in the show, possibly because of the character, but the effort and acting ability of the canadian actors created that niche more than anything else.
It is good to now that Cally is 'part of the fabric of the show', we don't ever want the show running around fabric-less. It is illegal in most US states. :o

Then its a good thing that much of the filming is done here in Canada, where they could get away with such things :naughty:
Just kidding.
