Cally needs to start interacting with other characters more than just Chief Tyrol.

Because indeed, since the series began she has been defined as "Chief Tyrols helper" and then "his wife", but she needs to establish other character relationships.

I mean originally, she was friendly with Socinus and annoyed at Jammer, and was "one of Chief Tyrols helpers on the hangar deck" originally.

However, the mounting losses of minor characters reduced it to the point that only Cally remained as a "helper" for the Chief. And there were great stretches of time where she was pretty much the only "helper under Tyrols command" that we saw.

Seelix popped up but then disappeared for all of Season 2.5

Then Figurski got picked up, but then Jammer died in Season 3.

As it stands, Seelix has been promoted to a pilot, Figurski is still around be he does not interact with Cally. They introduced another deckhand who is a woman named Pollux, plus one or two other ones from "Dirty Hands" which just got a stray name and are not recurring.

So, even just showing Cally and Seelix being close friends because she saved Seelixs life on Kobol would be nice.

It is just that I have realized that for Cally to be a truly 3 dimensional character, every single scene she is in cannot be dominated by Tyrol.

******we had one, ONE really good Sharon vs. Cally scene.

Or rather, we got the EXCELLENT Cally vs Boomer round II in "Precipice" and then not too much

(Though the kissing Adama scene in "Unfinished Business" was funny :) )

Anyway, we got one not-so-great but would have been better had they devoted more time to polishing it DELETED SCENE from "The Son Also Rises" of Cally and Athena (Caprica-Sharon) which is why we were all pretty excited about it.


SO really, I think that was the problem with Cally in season 3; at most, they would truck her out to have a conversation with Galen Tyrol, but not really much of anyone else.

I mean in season 2, it was her interacting with the whole Kobol group: Baltar, Crashdown, Tarn, Seelix, Socinus a bit, as well as Tyrol.

And then in the GREAT "Resistance" we had her doing a LOT of stuff with Baltar, I mean real SCENES with Baltar (and even Number Six hovering around :) )

And a scene with Jammer where she ends up punching him.

And then it was her and the deck gang in Flight of the Phoenix, and even interacting with Laird and Adama himself in "Pegasus". Season 2.5 she admittedly was not in alot and they knew that in advance, but then she had a brief thing with Cottle too.

But really, Cally had VAST amounts of screentime in "A Day in the Life" and "Dirty Hands", which were not the strongest of episodes, and all this was was rehashing her relationship with Tyrol. And they are GREAT on-screen together. But even a good thing can drag out on-screen too long.

So one thing that is needed in Season 4: Cally REALLY needs to interact with other characters besides Galen Tyrol more.
