Title: Babes of BSG

DragonLore - October 11, 2007 02:32 AM (GMT)
What the frack?? every site out there puts out Babes pix, but do they ever include our beloved Callie?? FRACK NO!! Who else is fracking sick of seeing our favorite knuckle dragger ignored for toasters like Boomer or 6?? If I am wrong throw me out the closest airlock. But CALLIE IS THE HOTEST FRACKING BABE IN THE FLEET!!!

Solium - October 11, 2007 09:58 AM (GMT)
I agree. There is a very short sided view in the media regarding who's "hot" or "attractive". Unfortunately this distortion by the media is often echoed by the customer regardless if they believe it or not. If the consumers eat it up its not going to change.

Stereotypically, sexy is tall, big chested, blond, big lips, etc. Its short sided at best. One should also consider the "character" of a person.

FYI, its "Cally" not "Callie" :P

May I say "Number Six"? I even think Six' looks were designed this way to mock that media standard (as she's the only one in the stereotypical Bermanish "Tits and Ass" look). All of the other BSG women are portrayed as regular people -- as they should be!

There are also scenes of other Six copies which show a completely different perspective: Gina in "Pegasus". See what outfit can make a HUGE difference?

Other series have picked this up, Firefly being one of the first (even before BSG) and subsequently the view on female characters has changed dramatically.

Hell yes, ill toast to that!

Solium - October 16, 2007 09:11 PM (GMT)
I would say her blog photo's show a feminine and alluring side of Nicki folks who just watch BSG have never seen.

mattmey - October 20, 2007 06:08 PM (GMT)
 I agree it always starbuck, six and boomer!! i guess its because nicki is not an official Regular as well that she has never been in anything revealing/sexy that i can remember. i personally think she is one of the better looking ones over the others. :D

sjorge - October 23, 2007 08:32 PM (GMT)
If they need to show cally in a sexy outfit to get the general fan base interested in her thats just sad.

I won't wast more words on this, Solium said it all.

CptKayleeAdama - November 15, 2007 06:13 AM (GMT)
Not much I can say that Solium hasn't already said, but yeah, in the entertainment business, there is shallow, and stupid people who believe that only sexy outfits and hot bodies ( like Tricia's , although I'm not against her, I kinda like Six), are the only things that people call 'hot' anymore. It's rarely the girl on the sidelines.

Solium - November 15, 2007 11:19 AM (GMT)
I like Tricia as an actress but honestly she's never been a turn on for me. In fact the only time I found her really attractive was when she was in a cell, with sweat pants, ponytail and glasses I think. Guess that makes me a real geek!
:rofl2:

I can only say one thing: T&A is sóóóó 1999. The 'girl next door' look, that's the successful character of the 21st Century. Actually one of the reasons Star Trek: Enterprise flunked!

You can see that Nicki has really grown up and become more of a woman now. Remember she was fresh out of her teens when Battlestar was shot (2002/2003) but 4 years can change a lot. But still, I can only have a lot of respect for the fact that she still wants to be her own natural self and not take some attitude towards her fans. I think that's one of the things that makes her so charming -- she has at least a few bits of geekishness in her personality. And she seems to be happy with it -- a sign of confidence and self-respect!

Edit by Solium. ;)

I totally agree. I would also say just a more confident person too.

Again a vivid sign that Nicki is finding herself as a person and comfortable within her skin.

Stoney3K - December 9, 2007 09:09 PM (GMT)
Note @ Solium: The full expansion of "T&A" is a generally accepted term in SF filmmaking. Mostly associated with Rick Berman, it is only meant in a degenerative manner towards the respective director. If you simply want to censor foul language, you should censor all instances of "Frak" on a BSG related forum while you're at it. :)

(Some sarcasm implied)

Solium - December 9, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
It was a tiny edit that kept the spirit of the conversation. No offense to your original message intended. You can say Frak all you want and I promise not to edit it. well within reason. ;)

Knaves - December 10, 2007 12:46 AM (GMT)
Frak the frakking frakers. :whistle2:

On another note, I think acting talent or skill is becoming more appreciated than simple good looks. I think that is due to the large number or 'babes' (male and female) that have been forced upon viewers without the quality acting, and so good looks are like billboards or ads anymore. I do a lot of thinking..

Trouble maker! :P

Seriously, I agree. I also think this benifits Nicki is a "thoughtful and mindful" performer.

Knaves - December 10, 2007 01:57 AM (GMT)
Alot of that ability is doing soming as innocuous as simply not standing still and trying to act with your eyes. Which is what it seems like most all younger actors/resses try to do. I have been watching some of Smallville of late and a lot of the acting, especially in the early season and involving the 'pretty' faces, is just flat out boring and uninspireing. Nicki's friend Allison Mack is a stark example of what movement and facial acting rather than 'soulfull' eyes can do. She upstages the others every time she is on screen (well most of them).

Some of my favorite scenes in Galactica are when Adama and Tigh are in Adama's quarters having a conversation. They never stand and face each other, but sometimes Hogan is eating, or Olmos is shaving, but they are moving around doing things independent of the conversation and it works. Those examples are rather extreme.

sorry for the rant. thank the small smallville marathon I am finishing up(I am not sure if it was worth it but I had to try it).

There's a simple reason why that works. That's the way it goes in real life as well -- most of the time if you're talking to someone in real life, you don't go straight face-to-face with them as if there were cameras around you talking. The whole 'over-the-shoulder' thing became a bit of a cliché in television, it works on some occasions but not all the time. Same camera style as BSG is seen in shows like Firefly, which was just as succesful on an artistic level.

I totally agree with that! Add me to your group as well. Not to bash Trish, Katee and the other actress, Our Nicki is THE best gal on the GALACTICA. :dancingbunny:

She got that Girl next attitude and she just so cute. however if you remember the
premiere article in TV GUIDE the quote was "Cylons in Nylons and starbuck in a bra." I believe is how is was written. A female fan found it funny and you can understand what that meant! :rofl2:

I just saw the last 2 episodes of Season 2...
oddly enough I was the only one (3 people watch bsg in my class) that found it cute on so many levels when cally tied to talk with her mouth wired shut (or what ever the doc said).

Also I wish theyed hurry up with releasing S3 on dvd so i can go and buy it...
well more order it and have a friend ship it and hope I can sneak it past costumes  :ph43r:

NICKI CLYNE is NOT a Hot Babe.

That being said,....she's not frak 'em and leave 'em material. Hot babes are.
Nicki is the girl-next-door we'd rather be with for the rest of our lives.
