Title: Nicki at FedCon!!!
Description: Can I get a "hell yeah!"?
Lex - December 7, 2007 08:25 AM (GMT)
I just read on the FedCon messageboard that Nicki Clyne and Leah Cairns will visit next year's FedCon in Bonn, Germany. Now there are six(!) BSG guests. the others are Jamie Bamber, Mark Sheppard, Richard Hatch and Steve Bacic.
I'm quite speechless right now. Honestly, I expected Leah (thanks to "MAD" Marcel). But Nicki? That was a biiiig surprise.
:cornmuffins:
Pedda - December 7, 2007 08:36 AM (GMT)
:yahoo: Hell yeah!
That's fantastic news. Sure, I fanboyishly wanted to see Lucci again, but meeting both Leah (finally) and Nicki (again - now that she's turned into a wicked con queen :D) is a dream come true. And once again, CC will make sure that BSG ladies will get the attention and treatment they deserve.
Lex - December 7, 2007 08:45 AM (GMT)
The problem is, FedCon is a frakin' big convention. We most certaily won't be able to spend any time with the girls outside the con. And to be honest, I don't think those two want to spend as much time with us like Lucci did. :(
Solium - December 7, 2007 11:26 AM (GMT)
FRAK IT! I'M MOVING TO GERMANY!!!!! :P
Lex - December 7, 2007 11:54 AM (GMT)
But then you'd have to learn our funny language. Maybe Lucci can assist you :naughty:

Ich nehme deutsche Lektionen von Lucci und von Nicki jederzeit. :naughty:

Nicht schlecht.
sjorge - December 9, 2007 07:12 PM (GMT)
My german geography is as good as my understanding of string theory... rather poor :)
But how far is bonn from the belgian border?
Pedda - December 9, 2007 08:21 PM (GMT)
100 klicks ;) from Ruhrbusch to Bonn. That doesn't even count as distance - we'd be happy to meet you there. :friends:

True, having experienced two very intimate cons in fall 2007, we must be careful not too expect too much from such a huge event. Yet, there's no reason to be overly pessimistic, I think. First, there's MAD. Second, we just need something to get noticed, either our questions or something else. We could bring karaoke equipment. Or, Lex and I form an "a capella" duo and perform bad songs badly in some corridor.
Solium - December 9, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
Pedda.... Can you and Lex get Nicki to send me a "Lucci style" video greeting? :dancingbunny:
Edit: This is was "inside" joke and I am not actually asking for a "special" or "personal" treatment. I think those in the know understand what I was alluding too.

To paraphrase one of your earlier posts over at the Lucci board: "I'm an artist, I don't do requests." :D Perhaps we can get her to sing "
Old Folks at Home at the SingStar, to honor you and your home state. ;)

I would LOVE that! :rofl2: Hmmm, I wonder if I should forward my Lucci greeting to Nicki since I hear they are friends? :P

Erm... no :rofl2:
I just learned from the Fedcon board that they don't have a contract signed yet. The announcement was too early and not authorised by fedcon chief Dirk B. They're still negotiating.
Of course, this does not mean that Leah and Nicki won't come to FedCon, but it is a possibility :(
Solium - December 10, 2007 02:07 PM (GMT)
Oh, thats weird. Someone jumped the gun on the announcement.
Lex - December 10, 2007 02:20 PM (GMT)
Right, one of the administrators was a little too fast. <_<
Now let's hope these negotiations went well and those two gorgeous ladies visit Bonn in april.

If not they can come to MegaCon in March :naughty:
Pedda - December 14, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
Leah finally confirmed she'll come, so lets hope this bodes well for Nicki. :cornmuffins:
Edit: Oh, and where's the Nicki announcement for MegaCon? :D Someone's gotta do something...
Solium - December 14, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)

Shiny digital camera is on my "things to do" list. Problem is finding a good camera for around $200. Every time I Think I found a great camera I find I don't like the picture noise or its missing features I want. And theres only a thousand camera's to choose from.
Lex - December 15, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
Get yourself a Nikon D70. Thats a great camera!
...oh, you said 200, not 2000... never mind :whistle2:
I like my HP Photosmart 950. Only thing is, you can't use an external Flash <_<

A Fuji S5600 or S5700 is a good bet for conventions. The 10x optical zoom is a big advantage when you don't have front row seats. And it's not very expensive (around $200-250) but a great camera for the money.

Thanks a lot for the advice. Consumer reports gives it a good rating and I see I need to budget for a camera in the 250 to 300 hundred price range.
I am reading a lot of good things about the Cannon Power Shot A630. Apparently an older model so its price has dropped.

The A630 is a more compact model, but it has smaller optics meaning less light sensitivity (and that's one thing you are really interested in when doing convention pics), and has a smaller optical zoom ratio. It may not be very suitable for close-ups. It has more resolution, though, so cut-outs may be easier.
You can also save up a couple 100 more and get an entry level digital SLR. Especially when you'll be doing a lot of conventions, a DSLR is money well spent. Prices for DSLRs are still dropping, and are currently kept high for the holidays but will drop again at the after-Christmas clearance sales, when all the manufacturers have introduced their new models as well.

Get the older Canon 350D with kit lens.
It's a great camera, not to expensive and ltos of nice things. Personaly I would not buy it again and go for the 40D! but then again I got a 350D 1 year ago and i'm hook on photography! And it doesn't cut it for me anymore but for most people it will be more than enough.

Btw, just in case someone didn't notice: Exactly two weeks ago, Nicki was finally announced
officially. Like Leah Cairns, she's now on the
guest list. Both ladies will charge €15/$10 per autograph (excluding the item to be signed, though).
Solium - January 2, 2008 11:19 PM (GMT)
Looks like your all going to get a lot of great guests! Congratulations! Don't let Lex anywhere near a camera if you all go bowling with Nicki again. :rofl2:
