Title: BSG season 4 promo video featuring Nicki

BSG season 4 promo video featuring NickiDownloadThe recent edition of Hypaspace Weekly on Canadian BSG broadcaster Space! featured a segment dedicated to the upcoming fourth season. There are some tiny spoilers in the few scenes they show, but nothing wild. Nicki is among the cast members interviewed by HW, and her very brief part starts around 1:10. I wonder if Cally will have a cool new hairstyle next season.

....Pedda beat me to it :)
Well I'm glad they're actually putting Nicki in the frakking Promo video instead of sidelining her. Apparently they think she's prominent enough to feature.
You know, now that its the final season and they're "throwing caution to the wind" (i.e. Scifi Channel was meddling with the show too much in season 3 but has now backed off) I think the organization of the scenes we can see in the promo video are a heck of a lot better.
That is, tighter scripting with wittier, snappyier dialogue, plus actually giving *real plot revelations* instead of the endless "and now we're looking for the Arrow of Apollo...and now for the Temple of Jupiter....and now the Golden Chalice of Athena..." etc. etc. (which they originally promised they wouldn't do  )
So at least things are moving again.

That was my thought, so congrats on Nicki for creating such an iconic (so called) secondary character.

I am sure she won't sway to far from her iconic bangs. However she sports a new hair style now and honestly I can't tell if its a "I'm dead and moving on hair style" or a "It's the writers strike hair style".
I think her current style is simply a reworking of her "regular" cut and can be slapped back into Cally bangs rather easily. So I am guessing shes not dead yet.
You know things are slow when your talking about someones hair style!

Ah... what would a NCFS thread be without V throwing in his trademark bitterness?

Well, it's very likely she'll at least have a couple meaty scenes in the first three or four episodes dealing with her reaction to her husband's new face. Considering how tense Cally was when she met one of the Boomer copies, this domestic fight ain't gonna be pretty. I actually expect her to get hysterical and nasty.

I just finished reading the "Official Companion - Season Three". While the creators and (Mark Stern) mention numerous instances when Sci Fi had to be convinced of certain creative decisions (or eventually demanded changes), Ron Moore also says that their biggest arguments actually date back to the first season.
As a die-hard fan, I wasn't fond of toning down the NC arc, or inserting several stand-alones in mid-seasons, of course. In a perfect world, these changes wouldn't have been necessary. Yet, we do have to recognize that, were it not for Sci Fi, we wouldn't be able to enjoy BSG (and Nicki!) at all. Hence, we must pay the price of a network selling a show to a broad audience, because these guys have to make some profit off it.

True, that's been one of my major criticisms, too. The mid-season two-parter felt more like "Stargate Atlantis". Thank the gods the writers won't have to stretch it out much longer. :)

Read topics in the spoiler area. ;) Besides, who knows when they recorded this promo stuff. Could've been as early as September.

I'm not gonna put all the "blame" on Sci Fi. They didn't force RDM and company to turn season three into a pointless soap opera. Yes, the powers that be can strangle creativity, but thats not the whole story either.

I saw that! It was totally nuts, I'm excited for Season 4.

Like solium, I do not place ALL of the blame on the network because that lets the writers off the hook for the soap opera.
However: We have nothing to thank Scifi Channel for; they didn't even initially want to pick up the show so it had to air on Sky One first, and indeed, Ron Moore in the first season stated that one of the best things about the show is how LITTLE the network was really involved in its affairs. The show did not succeed because of Scifi, but in spite of it.

Definatlly, especially given her vigilante approach to things (boomer shooting, pegasus chief engineer).
