Metal Gear Solid will become a movie, says Hideo Kojima, but he can't say when yet.
That's according to a HIDECHAN Radio piece during which Kojima, series creator, confirmed what fans have long wanted to hear: "We're going to do it as a movie."
It's going to be in English apparently, although he wouldn't be drawn on a potential release date. "I can't say when yet," he admitted.
A movie of MGS has been oft-rumoured over the years - particularly given Kojima's love of overblown, film-style narrative in the games themselves.
Various directors and writers have been connected with it - even everyone's favourite Uwe Boll - but Kojima's been unwilling to farm out production unless he was happy with the conditions. Presumably something's clicked, then.
Although videogame film adaptations are often derided, any MGS film would be stepping into a more competent genre - with Silent Hill recently picking up a lot of buzz despite critical pastings, and the prospect of a Halo film executive-directed by Peter Jackson.
We'll bring you more on any MGS movie news as it comes out.
Kojima himself is currently working on the next instalment in the MGS game series - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - which is due for PlayStation 3 and will very likely turn up at E3 next week in some form.Fuente:
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=64225LOS ANGELES--When excited attendees left yesterday's Konami press conference, they were handed a catalog for Studio Kojima's forthcoming slate of games. However, many didn't know it, since the brochure was a clever imitation of the newsletter handed out each day at of the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
On the front of the Kojima catalog was a "breaking news" box, which bore the headline "Solid Snake...On the silver screen?" The blurb below it read, "In a late-breaking surprise announcement, director Hideo Kojima revealed that his most famous creation--Metal Gear Solid--is getting the live-action treatment."
Given the semicomic nature of the fake E3 newsletter/Kojima Productions catalog, many thought the story was a joke. However, on the last page of the pamphlet was a page-long article on the project, which showed that Kojima was dead serious when he made the announcement.
After assuring readers at length that German director Uwe Boll will not have anything to do with the project, as rumored, Kojima talked about the film. "I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement," said the revered designer. "False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood."
Kojima did not mention the name of the party, a release date, or any potential directors or stars. However, ever since the original PlayStation Metal Gear Soild, the English-language dialogue of game hero Solid Snake has been voiced by Hollywood figure David Hayter. Though a prolific voice actor, Hayter has enjoyed greater success as a screenwriter, with credits for X-Men, X2, and the forthcoming Watchmen under his belt.Fuente:

The Kojima Productions Report, the English companion to Hideo Kojima's audioblog HIDECHAN, released its second installment today, and it's already bearing fruit! Host Ryan Payton delivers a message from Kojima-san dispelling recent "nasty rumors" that Uwe Boll is being considered to direct an upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie. Says Kojima:
"Absolutely not! I don't know why Uwe Boll is even talking about this kind of thing. We've never talked to him. It's impossible that we'd ever do a movie with him."
Ouch! Kojima sounds pretty confident that Konami isn't sidestepping his authorial control anytime soon, even if Boll did receive a copy of the script. Oh, and Uwe, congratulations on that recent Razzie nomination; we know you have what it takes to bring home the Golden Raspberry!Fuente:
