Title: AI March 3-08_NotFadeAway

Gypsee - March 3, 2008 03:04 PM (GMT)
THIS WEEK, TO ME, WAS NOT ONE OF HIS BEST SONGS VOICEWISE, BUT STILL IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PERFORMANCES. IT GIVES US A GLIMPSE INTO THE "TOUR TAYLOR" ENERGY!

PS...I LOVE THE GRAY SUIT AND THE SNEAKERS...

What a fun performance for Taylor! I loved the skipping across the stage & then up on the platform behind the judges. Paula was up dancing & clapping while Simon scowled & looked straight ahead, mind made up! The energy was great & the last move at the end of the song - so cute! Taylor really does have a lot of energy when he performs, and it certainly came through on AI! Thanks for letting us relive a fun moment!

Lubiana- this is one of my fave performances. I adored the grey suit and the dancing blew me away and I just fell in love! Great stuff! :P

Generally speaking, the song itself wasn't a real favourite one of mine when it was released originally, but Taylor made it fun to watch. Who knew then what we know now - Taylor's interest in having a sax player highlighted throughout the performance? i suppose for the fans who were aware of LMBO, it would not be a surprise but it was for me.

Loved that shade of gray suit on Taylor with a crisp white shirt! Awesome!

Thanks for the look back, Gypsee!

Great song for Taylor to bring back. I love this one- too! The dancing is great on it. You know I look back at these - and know now how Taylor must of missed have a harp or tambourine in his hand. Or even a guitar for some of the songs. They are allowing instruments this year. Taylor would of blown them away with the harps on this song!!!

I too am not fond of the song, but to watch Taylor put his special touch to it and to watch his face beam makes me smile. Taylor the bundle of nervous energy was displayed . Did anyone else think he looked very thin in this vid.

He made the song his own.

Barry Manilow coached the idols this week. He said in an interview that he educated them on how to sing songs written in the fifties. He told them it was a whole different way of singing than singing songs of 2006. He told them they needed to pay attention to the lyrics and stick to the melody.

Taylor paid attention and delivered! Simon did not pay attention. He told Taylor it was like some hideous party performance. Taylor smiled that gorgeous smile and said "That's what the fifties were!" The audience went wild for Taylor. The audience booed the other guy. :cheer

I like this performance because he had so much fun. It really didn't give his voice a chance to shine like some of his other songs- I agreed with Randy on that, but the energy, the dancing, the skipping, coming down into the audience for the first time (this must have been the time he was waiting for that he mentioned in his book...lol) AND the sneakers... loved the sneakers. To me, this was just a great fun performance.
