Title: Emperor's Children Log
Description: Just a start for now.

lt.rasczak - June 25, 2008 08:18 PM (GMT)
Hello all,

I will be using this log to detail the expansion of my emperor's children army. So far its been going slow but after finishing my dreadnought I have instilled new life into the project. I don't have much to show right now and I won't for a while as I'm going on vacation to Wisconsin for the next few weeks. Just wanted to get a little bit posted so I can look forward to adding more when I get home.

Here is my Lucius so far. I've used bits from the Company Champion with a few modifications. Given his personality from the books I think Lucius would be the kind of warrior to go to the battle field and pick a fight with another champion, hence the pointing arm, "You feelin' lucky punk?" He doesn't have a head yet, but I'm planning on giving him an eldar guardian bare head with some blond hair.

Thanks for looking and don't expect any updates too soon, this is more of just a teaser right now.

Fantastic work so far! Cannot wait to see more mate :D

Vredesbyrd - June 25, 2008 11:08 PM (GMT)
Wow. Just wow. I think I might give up on doing Emperor's Children in the face of the amazing we've been seeing on them of late.

BigWill - June 26, 2008 12:55 AM (GMT)
Looking good
I like the rationale behind the pointy finger
what is your purple recipe it looks good

recceboy - June 26, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
Looking good keep us posted.........:)

Anodyr - June 27, 2008 07:07 AM (GMT)
Very nice paintjob, and given how your dread turned out, Im pretty confident this will be yet another stunning EC force.

My only quibble with your Lucius is the sword - to me Lucius is an elegant fighter and a great big falchion type sword just doesnt fit his image. He should, in my opinion, have a sword designed for finesse and lightening repostes (sp?), whereas the sword he has at the moment is simply a massive cleaving tool. If it were me, I'd be looking for something more rapier like, perhaps with an elegantly scrolled basket guard...

Hello all,

It has been a long time since I have updated. In that time I have moved from Austin TX to Dallas TX and started medical school, so now that I have absolutely no time to paint updates will be few and far between.

I finished my Lucius. I used the picture on page 183 of the HH Collected Visions book for inspiration. It came out ok but I think the face looks a little to old and grizzled to portray Lucius. I may change it in the future if I can find a face I like.

I also started working on my Fabius. Hes based on the picture in the HH book and Proximity's lovely model. I would like to thank him for the inspiration, and I hope he doesn't get too mad that I ripped off his model, its just so damn good though. He still needs a power sword and a back pack that will hopefully come soon.

Also I'm starting on my Eidolon, based on the Master of the fleet with a more fitting head.

So thats it for now. I'll try to work in an update every week but I may not have time. Anatomy lab starts tomorrow so I don't know if I'll have a lot of time to paint a 28mm doctor while I'm trying to become one.

Thanks for looking and C&C are welcome as always.

Ahh, the Eldar head... of course... :D

Looking good! Hope you get time to do more updates soon.

Kaleb 'Angelus' Dante - August 25, 2008 09:37 PM (GMT)
I love the Lucius mini it looks excellent! Just like the pic in the HH books! I agree a little too old and grizzled but it still looks great! what head did you use? I take it you used green stuff for the hair?

lt.rasczak - August 25, 2008 10:23 PM (GMT)
I used the space marine master of the arsenal head with some sculpted hair. Thanks for the comments.

Vredesbyrd - August 25, 2008 10:27 PM (GMT)
Awesome work here! Loving the use of the Bretonnian head on the Master of the Fleet.

Doghouse - August 26, 2008 10:22 AM (GMT)
Looking really good so far mate! Great job on the purple and the conversions are really nice.

lt.rasczak - September 14, 2008 01:51 AM (GMT)
Hello All,

It has been a while since I've updated and I haven't gotten much done. School is taking up all my time and I'm lucky if I can find an hour a week to sit down and paint.

I manged to finish Fabius, and here he is.

Sorry for the bad pictures, I was having some lighting issues today.

Also I just purchased the AoBR boxed set (which i just realized was pretty stupid. Buying 40 minis when I can hardly finish two a month.)

I plan on using the captain from the set as Lord Commander Vespasian to give Eidolon some company.

Also here is a shot of Lucius and Fabius in front of Ancient Rylanor.

Crazy_Irish - September 14, 2008 09:42 PM (GMT)
Lucius realy looks to old. I would have used the head for Eidolon, as it realy reminds me of hime(as i picture him). Where is the head from?

The paintjob and the conventions I realy like! good stuff there.

looking forward, on seeing Eidolon finished!

lt.rasczak - September 18, 2008 09:01 PM (GMT)
Just got finished with a test today and had some time to relax and paint.

Here is what I have done on Eidolon so far. I went with a red cloak like it says he and the other members of the Phoenix order wear in Fulgrim. I know red isn't exactly the best color to put with purple but I think it works. Also if anyone has tips on how to paint a good marble effect for the head on the hammer I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Very nice! I'm liking the highlights on the cloak, it's a nice effect!

Iacton - September 19, 2008 09:05 AM (GMT)
Really nice. The red is fine whilst muted, just don't go bright because it will make your eyes go funny!

Lovely consistent purple and the head works well too ;)

lt.rasczak - September 26, 2008 04:30 PM (GMT)
Finished Eidolon, except for the writing on his shoulder plate, i'm not sure what to put there and am open for any suggestions.

I glossed the head of the hammer to make it look like wet marble and I think the effect looks better in real life than in the photo.

Hello all,

Long time, no update. School has been very time consuming but it turns out my anatomy lab partner plays eldar so I have some motivation to get my minis painted.

I've been working on my command squad and troops, not much done yet but here are some WIP shots.

Standard Bearer, he is finished but his arm fell off and I'm out of super glue right now.

amazing work!!!

Vredesbyrd - December 7, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
Looking good rasczak. I'm liking the more magenta colour you've used for your EC.

Magos Explorator - December 7, 2008 05:49 PM (GMT)
Glad to see updates; is the Emperor's Champion going to be the sergeant?

Also, which sprue is the standard bearer's bionic arm from?

Kriegersen - December 7, 2008 09:28 PM (GMT)
Looking good, like the purple.

Magos Explorator, I think thats from the marine commander sprue

lt.rasczak - December 8, 2008 01:53 AM (GMT)
Magos: The bionic arm is from the commander sprue, nice call Kriegersen.

The emperor's champion is going to be the new company champion, replacing the model know as lucius. Also I think I'm going to make a new version of Lucius to lead a vanguard squad, so the Lucius now might just become a generic sergeant with a power sword.

Kriegersen - December 8, 2008 04:08 PM (GMT)
what can I say, I know my sprues :D

Iacton - December 10, 2008 10:30 AM (GMT)
He looks ace Lt R

I think that bionic arm works brilliantly with him too.

Only thing I might suggest is another thin final bone/white layer on the robes to make them stand out a touch more.

Other than that, excellent stuff and nice banner too ;)

Battle Brother Loken - December 10, 2008 02:42 PM (GMT)
love the banner
great job dude

lt.rasczak - January 26, 2009 11:41 PM (GMT)
Hello all,

I'm still alive and painting, although very slowly.

First of all thanks for the comments, its encouraging to get some good feedback and constructive criticism.

Iacton: I can see what you mean on the robe in that picture, but it does look a lot better in real life. I took that picture pretty late one night with the terrible lighting at my desk. I'll try to get some better pictures with proper lighting.

Update time(no pics yet, sorry)

I finished the 5 man command squad for Eidolon, and will get pictures up as soon as I can get a hold of a camera. I really like the way they turned out its just a shame they preform so poorly most of the time in game, but i guess i can say that about most of my marines. Especially my venerable dread that rolled three 1's to hit for his Assault Cannon standing 5 inches away from a mob of hard boys, really couldn't believe that one (he killed more orks when he exploded than he did shooting and in combat).

I have one tactical marine done and 9 others about 50 percent done, just need arms back packs and heads, hopefully I can get them done this weekend after my next exam.

Also on the list to paint sitting at my desk
Predator
15 tactical marines
10 scouts
5 assault marines
chaplain with jump pack
2 heavy bolter marines
2 plasma cannon marines
1 las cannon marine
1 multimelta marine
1 rhino
1 drop pod
(I think my eyes, were a lot bigger than my paint brush)

Also I just order from forgeworld
3 red scorpion upgrade packs
1 pack of red scorpion vanguard vets (going to convert them to Lucius and Nasicae)
1 commander cullen in termie armor (thinking Julius Kaesoron)
1 Titan tech priest

I plan on using the tech priest as a model for the thunderfire cannon. I know not pre-heresy, but i would like to have the option to use it in game and i really hate the techmarine model. I guess it will just be an adeptus mechanicus attachment.

So that is what I should be finishing over the next few months.
Again sorry no pictures, I'll get a camera ASAP and keep you guys updated.
Thanks for looking.

These parts are completely done, they just need arms heads, guns and back packs. Black templar Mk II and Mk IV heads should be arriving shortly. I'll get some better pics up tomorrow when i can get some decent lighting.

Thanks for looking.
