Title: Torg's crazy Figs!
Description: That's all I could think of for a name!
Torg - July 9, 2008 04:47 AM (GMT)
Hey Guy's, thought I'd start this little blog of my figs,
and my trip into Pandemonium! :P First pic is my pic
of Chaos Torg,Horus and Loyalist Torg
both Torg's are basically body wise almost identical
with the exception of the head,I couldn't find a right head
for loyalist Torg so I went for the space wolves heads.
Can you guess which one?Oh yeah with Horus I changed his
Talon for the Abaddon Talon,as it looked more meaty
and like He 'd want to stab someone and say crunch to someone's
throat! Anyways here is the pic!One of many!
Iacton - July 9, 2008 08:18 AM (GMT)
Hey Torg,
Glad to see you finally get some pics up. Only thing is, any chance of some slightly closer ones? Only these look so far off, I'm concerned that you took pics through the window of your next door neighbour's figures! :P
From what I can see, it looks like you have spent some real attention on the Horus model, but the other 2 aren't in focus really.
Try and give us a macro pic of each.
Good work mate ;)
Torg - July 9, 2008 09:30 AM (GMT)
Sorry man,I am still learning about this camera,
I can't find the macro button on the camera.
Does it go by any other name?
Iacton - July 9, 2008 09:49 AM (GMT)
Usually has a pic of a flower on it. It allows the pic to be taken close up.
Also, if you set the camera down on the table, or a book, it will help. There are so many little tweaks that can be done with digital cameras, but also, if you crop the image from a high quality pic the actual model will come into focus better too. Best bet is take LOTS of pics of 1 model, trying out lots of settings on the camera. When you get the sort of pic that you want, you are away! ;)
Here is a superb tutorial about photography with one light, you don't have to use a tripod, but the rest is invaluable >>
LINKYIt can make all the difference, plus don't use a flash ;)
Torg - July 9, 2008 10:18 AM (GMT)
Ok,Here is a better pic of wolfy/Son of Horus Torg.,
Iacton - July 9, 2008 10:41 AM (GMT)
It's getting there, but you have focussed on the banner, so his face is still off :(
Nice weavy metal basket thing though :P
Keep practicing.... We'll rename it "Torg's Crazy Photo Blog!"
What you will probably find is that if you move the camera back about an inch or 2, it will focus better.
Torg - July 10, 2008 08:03 AM (GMT)
What do you mean "metal basket thingy? I can't find any place to take photo's
I live in a apartment! The only place with enough light in my apartment
is the kitchen! And I don't have any pics that I can use to represent
worlds(cept HR Giger stuff but that is to chaosy!)
Weiss - July 10, 2008 08:07 AM (GMT)
I think he meant the right-hand thingy with gems on it. Looking good, I like the base dude. What head did you use?
Also, if you have a piece of blank paper, you could lean it on the metal basket-thingy then stick your model on to give a neutral background. Just a suggestion though, it's not like we can't see him... ;)
Torg - July 10, 2008 08:52 AM (GMT)
Ohhh! :P my bad!I'll try it thanks! You know everytime I look at my figs like this I actually can see my Tremors in them but farther away I don't!Even while I paint them
without a magnifying glass and glasses to magnify stuff I always paint it free hand.
People see my figs, normally around where I live, and are flabbergasted!Everyone says I have a talent specially since I have Bi-polar, and can't sit still and focus.
And you know I have to fight it everytime I paint! But I wont give up! :)
Oh yeah the head,I alomost forgot,I used the same type of head that
wolf lord mjolnor used for his Russ, minus the braid. :)
Iacton - July 10, 2008 09:09 AM (GMT)
You keep it up mate ;)
I know the therapeutic value that the models give you, so crack on!! :D
Torg - July 10, 2008 09:15 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the words of incouragment man,
I really apreciate it! :) ;)
And you'll see more pretty soon!
Torg - July 11, 2008 02:49 AM (GMT)
Ok, so here is my fig of Perturabo,
sorry for the back stuff. He is made from mostly the new
Termi chaos lord and a few other things that I bought from
the old Gamers Haven store in Idaho before it burnt down.
Hope you guts like him! :)
Iacton - July 11, 2008 08:42 AM (GMT)
Good work, mate.
I reckon with the new GW washes, you could really pick out some of the details on him - and the others come to think of it ;)
Torg - July 12, 2008 08:39 AM (GMT)
Magos Explorator - July 12, 2008 08:44 AM (GMT)
Torg - July 13, 2008 08:10 AM (GMT)
So it's all the old washes, all together eh, ;)
I didn't know that,happy that I found out! :D
Thanks, I'll have to order some from the
U.S. GW. :) Man, shows you how behind the times
I am in less then a 1/2 a year. ;)
Iacton - July 13, 2008 10:58 AM (GMT)
They aren't the old ones at all, they are something very different indeed..try 'em, you'll like 'em ;)
ShroudFilm - July 13, 2008 01:49 PM (GMT)
Holy crap - that's a great Perturabo! :o
Excellent work.
Torg - July 14, 2008 07:05 AM (GMT)
Thanks Shroud,He is one of my fav's too!
I basically took the idea that BigWill had for his Horus
and used it to see if I can make Perturabo,I wonder what
other Primarchs I can make out of him, besides those two?
Lorgar perhaps?Maybe Angron?Or Ferrus?Hmmm....
Torg - August 6, 2008 08:34 AM (GMT)
Here is a new pic of one of my Old conversions I did Corax.
and Sarge Agapito from the Agapito talons pic.(my take on him)
GreyWolf - August 6, 2008 05:29 PM (GMT)
Nice work Torg! That Corax is the kind of model you put down on the table and makes your opponent think "Awww great, I guess I lose now...". I really like it; I'm a sucker for any kind of winged Astartes or Primarchs...it just makes them seem that much more intimidating and regal. Excellent work on the Perturabo as well. Keep up the good work, and post some more pics.
Jim - August 6, 2008 09:12 PM (GMT)
Hi Torg,
Your conversions are good - I really like the Corax model.
Also your photo's are getting a lot better so at least we can see the models now!!
Keep up the good work - any plans for a whole army or just one off figures for now?
Jim
Torg - August 7, 2008 07:41 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys,I am just pretty much painting and making them.
Got no place really to game yet.But you never know.Army wise not
sure.So far I'm building a toss up between the space wolves, Ultra's
and the Sons of Horus. And there is more figs to come.So keep
watching this site! :D
Torg - September 2, 2008 11:04 AM (GMT)
Update:Here is my new section of mini's
The Mournival,at the end of at the end of the Ullanor
campaign,Notice the Ork head on the base of Abbadon.
Torg - September 12, 2008 09:47 AM (GMT)
Update:Here is a pic of one of my
misses figs(Go easy on her guys!)She wanted me to post one of her figs
(I know it's kinda blurry,)She's really a big support with my fig painting
and buying.
Deleted mahoosive picture, which can be found a few posts down resized. Vredsbyrd.
Brother Tiriel - September 12, 2008 11:55 AM (GMT)
Ah? Pre Heresy Ork? :D
Can't tell anything else seeing the blur, sorry.
Pacific - September 12, 2008 12:08 PM (GMT)
Hmm... I wonder how many people on this forum have seen something like this.. something extremely large and ugly (and perhaps green) coming into focus after a very heavy night out, their head feels like it is split in two, and their mouth feels like an ashtray.. they roll over in the bed and suddenly it begins to come into focus...
For a first attempt though its a promising start, and also considerably better than the first mini's I attempted to paint (which looked like they had been painted by a deranged orangutan with a mashed crayon wedged between its butt-cheeks)
Vredesbyrd - September 12, 2008 07:07 PM (GMT)
Resize, Resize, Resize!
If you resize the images it will make it easier for us to view and critique her work better.
Torg - September 13, 2008 08:22 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys,It'll help me to help her,
She's very new to painting figs,It is one of her first ones.
About what size should I resize it at? ;)
Iacton - September 13, 2008 08:44 AM (GMT)
about 600 pixels wide usually works perfect here, mate. ;)
Torg - September 13, 2008 08:54 AM (GMT)

Brother Tiriel - September 13, 2008 08:58 AM (GMT)
Sorry to disapoint you, but I got exactly the same picture here...
Torg - September 13, 2008 09:24 AM (GMT)
Ok,the photobucket is only giving me this size,so here you go.
Deleted mahoosive picture, which can be found a few posts down resized. Vredsbyrd.
I'll try taking a pic of one of her figs on my own.
Brother Tiriel - September 13, 2008 09:38 AM (GMT)
Torg - September 13, 2008 09:49 AM (GMT)
Ok after some stress,And the fear that is the wife that I touched her fig,
Hear is a better one for everybody.....(groan)
Iacton - September 13, 2008 09:51 AM (GMT)
Aaaannnnnd relax! :D
Much better, thanks T!
Looking good so far, break out the washes to bring him along some more ;)
Torg - September 13, 2008 10:04 AM (GMT)
Hey,it's not me that painte it.It's the wife,I'd end up in a body bag, if
I took one of her figs and re-painted it,...(cold shivers)
It's not Titan's, or Primarchs or even the Emp,I fear,it's my wife
cause basically she can rip off something that can(Deleted by the Inquisition)
Iacton - September 13, 2008 10:22 AM (GMT)
I realise that.
I am suggesting that your wife uses YOUR washes to detail HER model
Then if she enjoys it enough, we will soon have a new blog "Torg's Wife's Crazy Orks!" :P
Vredesbyrd - September 13, 2008 12:52 PM (GMT)
I agree with Iacton treat her to a box of washes, she'll thank you for it. Plus you can use them too, double trouble!
If you've time could you please go back through and re-size your pictures? All you need do once you've uploaded them to Photobucket is to Edit the post with them in originally and post the resized pics in that post. Vredesbyrd.
Torg - September 14, 2008 09:03 AM (GMT)
Sure thing,No problemo Vred! :D
Oh,I give up,I'll just remembr to resize them from now on.
Tried to resize but everytime I did it just gave me the same thing when
I edited.Sorry about that Vred!
