In response to a few posts from the last week or so, I've decided to reinstate the Warning system for this board. Basically, a deliberate breach of the COC rules by a non-spambot member will incur a strike agains that member's Warn Level.
I think, given the fact that we're all mature and intelligent individuals, three strikes is fair before I have to review a member's right to be here, and the contribution they make to the community vs their disruptive tendencies.
This applies to all members, including moderators and those in the Champions and Loyalists groups - I'd hope that those dedicated individuals willing to donate to the running of the boards understand that the rules apply to them as well.
If we can play nice for a while, I will be happy to remove the system again in future.
EDIT: In response to a few emails I've had, here is a little more information.
Basically, it is actually quite hard to get 'warned'. First, someone must report a post... then a mod must view it and decide whether to issue a warning... then the administrator is notified and can overrule it if needs be.
If a warning is issued, a PM/email is sent automatically, and I will always try to follow up with a personal message to engage the member in open talks.
If three warnings are put on an account, then the account is frozen until admin reviews it. I will confer with mods to see if that member is still deemed worthy of remaining a member of the community... if so, they will be put under scrutiny by moderators for a certain period and all their posts will be checked before they go up on the boards... if not, then their account will be locked and all their known IP addresses blocked from viewing the boards entirely.
Hope this makes it a little clearer!
