Title: Gagoc's Loyalists Blog
Description: Loyal to the Emperor since M3
Gagoc TheAncient - September 9, 2008 05:17 PM (GMT)
So I'v decided to put my stuff in a blog.
Especially since I will be working on the AoBR Astartes for a while.
As a prelude to this I bought the Chaos Terminator Lord, some of whose bits I'll be using with AoBR Termie.
I've decided to use the majority of the Chaos Termie Lord's bits for a long held Project, a PH Terminator Librarian.
Now I have two choices currently, a Thousand Son Termie Lib, or A Death Guard one. The difference being the weapon and the left arm weilding it.
But I don't know which to do!
Can you help?
Here's some WIP pics.
Thousand Son Termie Lib:

Death Guard Termie Lib:

But which to choose?
Maratheus - September 9, 2008 05:37 PM (GMT)
I personally think the brutal helmet design suits DG much better but the pose of the scythe hand is a bit strange. Still looking really promising there.
By the way, where is the helmet from? :)
Brother Tiriel - September 9, 2008 06:40 PM (GMT)
Seconded on the Death Guard!
Plus, the blade looks too big imho (Shas'O Whatever's blade, right?).
Casket guard's blade however, are perfect!
Aquila - September 9, 2008 08:18 PM (GMT)
Looks like DG for me... I think the skulls and the helmet fit better for them...
Thousand Sons wouldn't collect trophies like on his stormbolter. (Or better: TS as I imagine them...)

Shas'O Vior'la Shovah Kais Mont'yr - Commander; hot blooded; farsight; skilful; blooded ... Perhaps: Commander Farsight who comes from the Sept of Vior'la, hot blooded and skilful ...
Gagoc TheAncient - September 9, 2008 10:56 PM (GMT)
The head is from an od WHFB Champion of Khorne. I ordered it ages ago.
The scythe blade has a skull on it and roses. It's from the Empire Wizards sprue.
You could be right about doing him as a DG, as I'm modelled up a DG Lib Familiar from the skeletal banner piece off of the Empire General sprue.
Maratheus - September 10, 2008 11:42 AM (GMT)
Ooh that familiar is genious! The icon is made mostly of plasticard yes?
Gagoc TheAncient - September 10, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
Yes! The actual DG symbol is made out of plasticard, a disk and six triangles, with a skull cut off a plastic Crux Terminatus from an Astartes shoulderpad (not a Termie one).
Gagoc TheAncient - September 11, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
Sorry! Double posting, Bad me!!!
I will make the Terminator Librarian DG as I plan to turn the AoBR Terminators into DG Termies.
I might even be able to use them as the Lib's retinue!
Though if I get some AoBR, by swapping my Orks for Astartes, I'll make those Termies into a squad from another Legion.
Gagoc TheAncient - September 30, 2008 04:16 PM (GMT)
(D'oh! Triple post. Sorry!)
I've got those other AoBR SM, and I've also gotten the new Red Scorpion Vanguard Vets.
Plans so far: With the AoBR models do each squad from a single Legion, with the possible exception of Characters. Therefore:
DG Terminator Librarian and a five squad of Termies that can act as Honour Guard/Command Squad.
The tactical squad will be Luna Wolves.
And I'm planning on turning a Captain into Garro.
Now the other Termie squad.... I'm not sure of! I don't know whether to have them as TS or as something else. Any suggestions?
The other Tactical squad... I'm thinking either AL or EC. Each has their pro's, AL seem to fit the Tac squad well, but the have Aquila's which is good for EC.
And I'll probably do the second Captain to match this Tac squad.
As for the Dreads, I might see if I can convert at least one to a MK IV style.
But they will be my fifth and sixth Dreads respectively, and I'm wondering do I really need Six?
On these, with the first Tac squad I've so far removed the heads off five of them, and the Aquila's off half (will removeth others soon).
I need certain bits for the Captain and Termies before I can get stuck in.
I was going to do a mixed squad of Raptor-like Assault marines, but I've decided to a couple of squads of these, as well as a couple of possible squads of non-JPed Assault marines, with each squad from a different Legion.
Night Lords are the obvious choice for one Raptor squad, and I thinking of having a squad of Thousand Sons, but if I do should I give them Jump Packs?
Oh and of course a squad of WE assault marines.
I have some more scouts to finish converting and basing before I undercoat them.
So far I have fifteen Snipers, 8 CCW, 4 HW, and a sarge Scout to paint, add to them 8 Bolter armed, 6 Shotgun armed, 2 CCW and three Sarge scout WIP models.
And I'm expecting a few of the new models and Codex SM soon.

(I give up! Someone please answer a post before I get into trouble! :( )
Here's some WIP's and PIP's
Here some PIP scouts I'm working on. They're Luna Wolf and Death Guard scouts. And there's also a DG familiar for the Librarian.

Here some Bolter and Shotgun Scouts, still very WIP.

And here's some RT metal scouts I plan on salting through my scout squads.

Here's what I'm doing with my first AoBR tac Squad. They'll be Luna Wolves when I'm finished. And there's a closeup of the Mk IV conversion.

Well what I did was use the collar at the back as a guide and chopped the top, or dome, of the helmet off. I used the GW razor saw, pretty good.
I used a knife to cut into the neck joint above the rim of the chest armour. It only has to be a millimetre or two deep if that.
I then used the hobby drill to drill a hole down through the remains of the head down to about the models clavicle, centred above the neck. That's about 3 or 4 mm in from the back of the collar, just above that ribbed cable thing.
I then used bigger and bigger drill bits to widen the drill hole, until I got to one about 5mm in diameter.
This widens the hole so that there's only a thin skin of plastic at the front of the neck.
I then just finished the laterall cut across the neck, and cut down either side of the helmet just in front of the collar, to remove the face of the helmet.
Then you just need make sure there's enough of a hollow left for you to drop in the new helmet, and there you have it.
Lord_Mortirion - October 6, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)
yea, i was gonna say that lol... nice to see someone using crappy boxset marines, i was using 2nd ed marines lol!!!
Maratheus - October 6, 2008 06:39 AM (GMT)
Great conversions there. I really like the (mk3?) guy with strips of plasticard around his armour.
Fulgrim - October 6, 2008 05:07 PM (GMT)
Very nice Gagoc my favourite has to be the AoBR marines.

Actually, he's going to be in Mk 2 armour. The first one in that row will be a Mk 3.

I got my hands on some old Space Crusade stuff off Ebay.
I mainly bought them for these:

Now which on should I give to my Master of the Forge?
Lion El' Jonson - October 12, 2008 04:15 PM (GMT)
the big one at the bottom right.....whatever it is :D
Maratheus - October 12, 2008 04:50 PM (GMT)
The biggest one has the biggest gun of course
They are conversion beamers yes? I am tempted to get my hands on a Space crusade box just for the bits although raiding the old game seems a bit heretical.
Gagoc TheAncient - October 12, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
Correct Maratheus! They are Conversion Beamers.
The red and yellow ones are for the snap-fit Space Crusade Marines, and the grey ones is for the Space Crusade Chaos Dreadnought.

my 1st chaos army (2nd ed) used the missile launchers from space crusade, and the assault cannons as auto cannons...
i used loads of random bits, looked like a pure bizarre army. like the ones you used to get in Realm of Chaos era...
shorty - October 13, 2008 08:11 AM (GMT)
of cource the old dreadnaught One (grey bottom right).
Will look more impressive with a Master of the Forge behind it...
Also look out if you want those conversion beamers you should go for the
"Mission Dreadnaught" Expension for Space Crusade. Because you dont have beamers in the normal Crusade box.
And you get three Tarantulas if you get a complete box with operating Marine behind it...
I like the Expensions....especially the Attack of the Eldar....cool miniatures and even better Eldar with Eldrich Weapons...
Gagoc TheAncient - January 31, 2009 10:20 PM (GMT)
Sorry it been a while, I've life problems and camera problems.
The camera itself wasn't faulty. I use rechargeable batteries and for a few monthe now, I could charge them up, put them straight into the camera, and count myself lucky if it cam on for a few seconds.
So I've had to go and buy some new rechargeable batteries, and finally taken some pictures of what I've done.
First is my Tech-Seers, and this might be of interest to Shroud.
For those not familiar, they're Techpriest Enginseer conversion for count-as Techmarines.
Group shot:

Here's shots of the new model with servo-harness.

Here's an update on my AOBR marines.

I'm also putting the bits together for two squads of AOBR Terminators plus a couple of others.
Squad1, Death Guard.

I've added in some of the weapons as I'm thinking of converting the power axes and thunderhammer to Manreapers.
I also have five of the cloaks from the CSM Terminator Lord Sprue, do you think they'd be good for these guys or should I use them on the 2nd squad?
Squad2, possibly World Eaters.

Yes, I am considering doing them WE, I'm just wondering would it be worth it to give them Chainaxes.
Another new piece is the Chariot, the jet bike version of an Attack Bike.

I need to mount some engines or thrusters on it for the forward thrust and a bar above the top rim to mount the heavy weapon on.
I just need to find out how to safely bend a plastic rod to follow the chariot's shape.
I have more pics of this demoing how the operator would stand and giving an idea of how to mount the weapon.
