I have been quiet lately,but not unproductive.
I want to make a PH (calgar and retinue)
The Calgar stand-in will give me some problems(not quite sure how to start)
Give calgar Dred shoulders or start from scratch
But Here is the Comanpy Champ and First Company Assault Capt Cornielus

I really like how Cornielus is turning out.
In my mind he is the best assault jump troop in the Ultras EVER
I gave him old school R/T capt markings and his other shoulder I'm thinking of making 7th banner on it(Kind of like where the modern Ultras took thier 7th company design from he was so honored he is still remembered to this day.
The model also has a book on him which in my mind Robute gives all his badasses books to record deeds/tactics for him to add to the codex
I'd like to model some books on some others

Really nice work, thats some truly exceptional freehand you have done there, and some unique looking models.

It would be nice to see a more full photo of Cornelius though!

You know where your just messing around and it turns out alot better than you thought it would.

I found that the new Ultra capt Sicarius's
head, looks kinda like Marius gage's face sorta.
might have to use that for him.The Termi Calgar
would seem appropriate for a Pre-heresy
Leuitenant commander for Guilliman,or maybe you can
make him a certain capt or something that's future fluff could be
the guy that loses the gauntlets to the champion of khorne that
Guilliman retreives it from,(eh?)

anyone else noticed the new FW khorne champ seems to have a powerfist/bolter setup similar to calgars?

I made progress on Cornielus(note just at this point I realised I've been mispelling his name the whole time :blink: ) Cornelius.


He still needs fine tuning,I redid the sword red because I could'nt get the gold effect on the blade and with the yellowed banner on his shoulder it made the model look too yellow.
I my mind all the ultra's weapons have old school red casings anyway unless they are articfer

The gold on the bodyeagles looks very good. Is the rest of the gold painted the same way? Looks a bit different.

I'm interested how you will work out the dead Tyranid.

The gold on the legs is a touch more tarnished,my thought is they are the legs would be more dirty.
The dead xeno I don't know what that is,something nasty the Ultras found on a Space Hulk.
Hope there's not more of them :lol:

I also made my special dred arms all gold so they can be used on all my dreds
But I bought an assault cannon and claw just for him

In what year did the Tyranids first show up?

Like M38 way after the heresy on a planet named Tyran was the first reported contact,hence Tyranid.
I am of the belief that Nid Scout Parties have been around since the Unification wars or earlier.
They were in such small numbers and so scattered that no-one noticed that they were part of a much larger force until the discovery on Tyran.
I could of went to town and sanded off the nid bones but like I said earlier he was too pretty for me to want to mess with.
For 40k his is covered in Nid bones
For 30k they are either Unnamed Xenos.

While you certainly didn't have to, your fluff justification is spot on!

And your Dreadnought's paint job is ace!

Its looking perfect also the personal markings on the right side are looking good. But the Name writing looks like some Hive Ganger did a Grafitti on your Venerable...drop the Name and do the Name with printouts...the Meteor or fliing planet under the name looks top...only the name is not fitting in this perfect pic of this Venerable dread.
