Nice army, are you building a half normal marine, half chaos marine army? If so it'll look class, as my 40k chaos army includes regular marine parts, and they really bring out it's character and variety.

At the moment, it's just a Chaos army. Make it a bit more PRE-Heresy... otherwise it's off-topic...

You can still use Codex Chaos Marines to make awesome traitor armies, or in fact any PH astartes! Just avoid Daemon Weapons and Chaos Marks which can't be explained away (like Khorne for World Eaters or Blood Angels)

i'm looking at making an Alpha Legion list using Chaos marine codex, and i thought that maybe i could apply any ideas you may have for my list.

what Legion is this?

it doesn't make sense to have all these different marks of Chaos for one Legion. if they were all Death Guard, they they should all have Mark of Nurgle, etc.

the only way i could justify Chaos marks would be to show the role of a certain unit, but that's stretching things a bit, i think.

and depending on the Legion size, the Troop slot choices need to be Legion sized as well. IIRC (and right now i don't own the Codex), a chaos marine troop unit can have 20 models in it.

so Luna Wolves would have a lot of models, but Thousand Sons or Emperor's Children not so much.

see if this was a luna wolves army i could feild one deaomn weapon which was the one that the Word Bearer chaplin used

but this may be a Word Bearer list when they were fighting the Smurfs

i think once you figure what you want to use this list will be better.

Word Bearers were not particularly violent (at least compared to World Eaters, Blood Angels, etc.) and they were not known for their toughness like the Death Guard.

they were known for their fanaticism and use of converted human zealots, and the list needs to somehow reflect that.
