Title: TS Alpha Legion
Description: well...Grey Knights

I just read LEGION again and I am about to start a new Pre Heresy project. Yes, damn you, TGC people

This thread is only about armylist-building, any questions on modelling will be answered later ;)

Truescale Alpha Legion

Ok, seriously, here's an armylist I came up with. A guy in my gaming club plays a list that is in some ways similar to this list, and it's pretty effective, so I thought I could try something alike.

Note that I only have the German version of the codex, so some things may not be translated properly...if there are questions just ask them ;)

QUOTE
HQ:
- 1 Grey Knights Grand Master
- Terminator Retinue: 1 Captain with Meltabomb, 1 Terminator with Psycannon , 2 more Terminators

This is the In-Your-Face unit, that is able to hit really hard if it hits enemy lines. Plan is to keep it in cover or to deepstrike it in.

QUOTE
Elites:
1 Eversor-Assassin

No big deal here, maybe just an Alpha Legion Operative that infiltrates enemy lines.

QUOTE
1 Inqusitor with Psycannon and the dude that gives +1 BS (dunno his name)

This guy is to join one of the Stormtrooper Squads.

QUOTE
Troops:
7 Stormtroopers, including 2 Plasmaguns and 1 Veteran with Psycannon
- transport: Chimera with 2 Heavy Bolters

These will represent the basic Imperial Army units. They will either ride in their Chimeras, or run around with their Chimeras providing cover and giving fire-support.

QUOTE

7 Stormtroopers, including 2 Plasmaguns
- transport: Chimera with 2 Heavy Bolters

These will ride with the Inquistor.

QUOTE

6 Grey Knights, including 1 Psyannon

6 Grey Knights, including 1 Psyannon

Nothing spectacular, just to give the army some mass and some units to hold objectives.

QUOTE
Heavy Support:
Grey Knights Dread with Lascannon and extra Armour

All right, this makes about 1400 points. If you have an idea on how to bring this army to 1500 or 1850 points, let me know.

In the meantime, I would like to get some C&C :)

Cheers, BCB

Sounds pretty good for a basic list, but there are a few mistakes (probably in translation). Stormtroopers cannot take psycannons and Termies cannot take meltabombs. You may want to drop the grand master for 1500 and lower, and if you go higher take him with a retinue instead of the normal squad, saves you a third of the points taken by the Borther-Captain. A little more anti-tank may be in order too, ML/LC Dreads are good and going up to 1500 without the illegal items should give you enough points to throw in another, and even a few more PAGKs. Looks good though, can't wait to see how you model true-scale Alpha Legion!

Thanks man.

And yes, now I read the things again I noticed the stormtrooper/psycannon issue. But it is stated nowhere that a Terminator Captain, who is allowed some extra gears and goodies, cannot take meltabombs...

So, here's a second list, now for 1850 points in mind:

HQ:
Grand Master + Retinue (5)
- 1 Grand Master, 1 Captain with Melta Bomb, 1 Terminator with Psycannon, 2 normal Terminators

Elites:
Eversor Assassin (1)

Troops:
Stormtroopers (9)
- 2 Plasmaguns and 1 Veteran with Stormbolter
- Transport: Chimera with 2 Heavy Bolters

Stormtroopers (7)
- 2 Plasmaguns
- Transport: Chimera with 2 Heavy Bolters

Grey Knights (6)
- 1 Psycannon

Grey Knights (6)
- 1 Psycannon

Heavy Support:
Grey Knights Dread
- Lascannon, Extra Armour

Grey Knights Dread
- Lascannon, Missile Launcher, Extra Armour

This leaves me at 1607 points, means that I have 243 points to fill. What would be the best choice ?

- Another Grey Knights Squad of 7 ?
- Another Stormtrooper Squad even of 10 + Rhino maybe ?
- A defensive Inquisor as 2nd HQ Choice (with lots of plasmagun-wielding dudes) ?
- Another Dread ?

Thanks for watching ;)
