Title: AOTE: World Eaters Gladiator Group
Description: My list for the upcoming TF event at WHW

ShroudFilm - January 23, 2009 06:19 PM (GMT)
I thought I'd post up my army list for the AOTE: The Great Crusade event, since it's not a tournament as such and I hope to get some thematic results rather than game-winning. Just as well really...

Comments? I'm halfway through assembling most of these guys, with 1/3 of the Scouts and all the Astartes except the Honour Guard painted.

I like the fact that Clone Troopers recycle, and I like the fact that all units except characters and transports count as scoring units for the relevant missions - makes my job much easier! :D

The theme of the main army is to have a few forward Scouts survey the enemy deployment, then have the rest of the army arrive in Drop Pods and Teleporters as soon as possible to overwhelm their key units in one or two turns of furious assaults.

I fear Orks, frankly. In larger games I will sit back and let the Orbital Bombardment take out their bulk before dropping the Dreadnoughts in and letting Angron loose.

for me it dosent seem like enough CC for world eaters but i gues that would be kinda hard to get in a SM army
so good job and ways
also clone troopers are weird but good choice i must say

Not enough?!

We have Angron and 3 Devourers for a start... then a crazy fearless murderous Chaplain... then 25 Astartes, 20 of whom are close-combat specific. Both Dreadnoughts blaze away with anti-infantry weapons on their way into combat, after putting paid to any nearby tanks on their first turn.

In the IA division, we have a command squad who will stand back as far as possible but are quite capable of taking on a non-CCW Astartes squad in an assault. The clones are cannon fodder and will only be used to grab objectives in the endgame, advancing behind the armour.

I kinda scoffed at the Orbital Bombardment until I saw it in action... it took out two whole IG squads AND their command unit!

Just a thought on your fists.

Squad sergeants can't be targeted, so they are better to carry a fist as even with 1 model remaining, they'll get their attacks in.

Captains can be targeted, so fighting last is risky, especially when we're facing armies like Orks and Eldar in combat.

I tend to leave power weapons and relic blades for captains so they fight in intiative order and leave the fists to sergeants.

14 kill points in 2k is quite a lot. Those transports (pods) and small units will be giving away a lot to the enemy.

5 men in a pod that can't charge the turn they arrive are going to be cannon/ork fodder - be careful!
