Description: A Place for non-GW Bits?

Titus Pullo - May 19, 2009 10:50 AM (GMT)
Apologies if there is something like this elsewhere but I am finding it hard to keep track of all the different producers of bits which fit in with GW scale and are useful for upgrading/converting miniatures. It is almost impossible to browse for small miniatures companies. Could this be a thread where we collect the stray weblinks from around the site and put them on here with a guide to what they are useful for?

To start off the excellent Pig Iron site for their heads which fit in very well with IG and any other human types:

http://www.pig-iron-productions.com

Another one for IG and such like - Westwind

The (not) marine heads and others bits - Maxmini

Russian purveyor of many things heretical ;) - Shuuuuush!!

Iacton I Fing HATE YOU (j/k :P )
I had no idea that there were quazi-future WWII minis
I am in Love and with my current WWII kick going I think my wallet is going to take yet another hit.

In all kidding aside this is a great thread

here is my contribution Tamiya
http://www.tamiya.com/
They make great historical models in general to steal bits from but the set I find very useful for IG tanks is the Allied Vehicles Acessory Set.
A box full of packs, tarps, and fuel cans that bring the Russ and Chimera up a notch or two
they also have a nice variety of acrylics.
I have a hard time with the paint when I use a brush but they go on like a dream with an airbrush.

Iacton - May 19, 2009 12:34 PM (GMT)
Arf, arf!! :P

BigWill - May 19, 2009 04:13 PM (GMT)
Iacton have you seen the westwind SoTR minis?
how big are they compared to IG, same size or a tiny bit smaller/thinner?

They're pretty much EXACTLY the same scale, Will ;)

BigWill - May 20, 2009 09:09 AM (GMT)
Cool I was worried because I bought a Judge Dredd a few years back and he wwas the size of a hobbit.
That might of been 25 mm as well
That takes it then now I just have to buy a few

I hope the other Future WW2 game with Nazi Apes in battlesuits is the same scale.
I mean common Apes in Battlesuits how awesome is that.

Titus Pullo - May 20, 2009 09:56 AM (GMT)
Cool, thanks for those guys. Rediscovered some cool sites that I never saved to my favourties. Spent a good couple of hours yesterday perusing Arcane Miniatures many ranges and found some excellent bits of Warzone which I plan to use.

Also have ordered barricades from Demonscape before which are very good value for money if you play using strategic assets.

Well, they're not as tall as marines, but then that's what you want, I guess. GW scaling is just odd anyway....

Nazi apes...

Whatever next US Marine corps dolphins? OH wait....

BigWill - May 20, 2009 04:42 PM (GMT)
The Dolphins belong to the Navy ;)

FYI they really are no joke the Navy Seals did alot of work with them where they would constantly try to get at this boat guarded by an attack dolphin the dolphin would get them every time and beat the evrr loving S$#t out of them too

Iacton - May 21, 2009 08:47 AM (GMT)
Easy solution to that... Attack sharks, with lasers :P

I gotta ask does any company produce evil little kids to scale?
Someone had a great idea for a battle psyker squad that I would very much like to steal

Faust - May 22, 2009 05:00 PM (GMT)
The link at the top of the page for the Minature Scenery Workshop stuff (the wooden buildings/bunkers) has some pretty cool wooden Drop Pod look-a-like kits - what's the concensus on using these for Pre-Heresy?

Anyone seen one for scale?

....I'm thinking with not too much effort (eagles/rivets etc) that these could maybe work quite well as sorta "MK1" (yes I know there's no such thing really ;) ) proto-Dreadclaws?

Pretty decently priced too...

The sculptor at Hasslefree definitely has an eye for the ladies!

BigWill - May 28, 2009 04:41 AM (GMT)
Thanks a bunch I can do something with that :D

Iacton - May 28, 2009 09:15 AM (GMT)
Kev's stuff is legendary. I have a few pieces at home the I am looking forward to working on AFTER all of my GD projects....

Whitehorn - May 28, 2009 09:40 AM (GMT)
Hasslefree is a very good service - family business with that little extra customer support. I got a thank you note from their kids with some sweets at Christmas :)

Just hoovering up the link to Troll Forged from the News section which has good stuff for a couple of good complete miniatures for a few armies

These are absolutely brilliant, no attempt made at all to hide what some of these guys are ripping off!

Check this description out for 'Space Dwarves':

Got to love the Russians, intellectual copyright is for girls and watered-down vodka drinkers :D

I know it's Necro, but I've found some new stuff. from Ramshackle Games.

Sales site.

And here's some heads they've got.

They've also got a section with bits for their vehicle range, called Tridlins.

With stuff like these in.

The Russian site died :(

ShroudFilm - October 14, 2009 10:35 PM (GMT)
Those resin moles are FTW. I'm having some of those for AOTE3!

They're from Mantic Games, and they're all in plastic.
http://www.manticgames.com/

Now I think that they make an interesting alternative to highborn elves, but that they may also be a good base for Interex conversions.

Whitehorn - November 11, 2009 10:49 PM (GMT)
Excellent stuff guys. I hope to work through all of these eventually on my review site! Maxmini up next!

Has anyone seen Conflix by Pocketbond?

Looks like Great scenery.
This seems to be the main site for it:

But if you look around you can find these:

Keep your eyes on this one, especially in the coming months, lots of multi-part infantry kits (hopefully plastic) coming out and some crazy daemon stuff.

A few random WIPs:

Two things, first; the Mantic Elves could do as a basis for Interex.

And then there's these two.

Malifaux by Wyrd Miniatures.

They make stuff like these:

All in 32mm scale.

Hall Dorado (french site).

Who make stuff like:

Which I think are all in 25-35mm scale.

Those Hell Dorado miniatures are pretty cool, I was considering the one there for a daemon-prince version of Angron at one point (I think just sub in some chain and an axe and he would be perfect)

Also thanks to whoever necroed this thread, i really wanted some of those termite-type transports and couldn't remember where I had seen them!

Gagoc TheAncient - November 25, 2009 09:53 PM (GMT)
If you're talking about the ones from Ramshackle Games Pacific, that would be me who both Necro-ed and posted them.
