BigWill - May 28, 2009 04:52 AM (GMT)
Remember that snippet we saw last year on the xbox game,
well I think the polished the hell out of it
You have to check this out

Mortarion - May 28, 2009 05:14 AM (GMT)
looks like it could be a giggle. was kinda hoping for a new fps since firewarrior is pretty outdated now.
Itkovian - May 28, 2009 08:24 AM (GMT)
It looks quite cool, though the initial demonstration video put me off it a bit. The whole idea of shooting a guardsman - chaos-powered or not - with a penetrative explosive shell, and just stunning them just doesn't gel with me... Thunder Hammer looks shiny though...
Oh, as an aside, this game is also coming out on PS3...
Iacton - May 28, 2009 10:04 AM (GMT)
That is just about enough to convince me to buy a new console....
The orks in the cutaway were AH-MAY-ZING!
Maratheus - May 28, 2009 10:31 AM (GMT)
I sincerely hope this isn't just going to be a DoW made into an action-adventure to pamper the little fan boys.
The graphics are amazing though. :D
The trailer did make me want to work on some Assault Marines... ;)
Yvraith - May 28, 2009 12:41 PM (GMT)
Looks pretty sweet now.
Did anyone else catch sight of the titan in the background just as the orbital bombardment hits?
Iacton - May 28, 2009 12:46 PM (GMT)
No. And I'm never going back there! Do you hear me??!! !!! ! !SHIFT+1 !11!!!
Vredesbyrd - May 28, 2009 03:02 PM (GMT)
Well that's settled then, I'll be saving up for a 360. :D
Kharn - May 28, 2009 03:32 PM (GMT)
OMG ITS GOTTEN 100% MORE AMAZING THAN BEFORE!!!!
And you play as the ultra-smurfs. Despite what people say, they've gotten less love lately.
ANYWAY, IM ABSOLUTELY PSYCHED FOR THIS GAME!!!
Wolf Lord Mjolnir - May 28, 2009 03:59 PM (GMT)
Ok that is awesome!
Much better than the leaked video ages ago.
But no Wolves? Surely this is a mistake? ;-)

This looks pretty good. Apparently it's "rpg-lite" which is rpg elements like heroic upgrades, artifacts and wargear upgrades.
The early footage shows Ultras but it has been said that they may not be the focus of the main campaign so that may mean an army painter.
I've also heard that there is going to co-op play and multiplayer.
Gagoc TheAncient - May 28, 2009 11:29 PM (GMT)
I came across this link on another forum:
http://kotaku.com/5271667/40k-space-marine...ed-%5Bupdate%5Dand I was literally praying to the God-Emperor that it be for 360 (thanks lord!).
Apparently it's an Action-RPG, so it could be like Mass Effect or Fallout 3, though some are hoping for Republic Commando type squad control.
There'll be more news after E3.
Gagoc TheAncient - May 29, 2009 09:47 PM (GMT)
Here's some more news:
http://www.actiontrip.com/rei/comments_new...tml?id=052809_3It'll be out on PS3 as well.
There's also a rumour of it being out for PC when it's released.
Gagoc TheAncient - June 1, 2009 08:19 PM (GMT)
More news from eurogamer.net.
Currently this is a console only game, sorry PC players looks like you might not get a version.
The ultramarines will not be the actual chapter represented, their colour scheme is only a placeholder for an as yet unknown chapter.
It will be RPG-lite, meaning it will focus on the action.
And the RPG element may be based on the wargear.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/warhamme...-marine-previewP.S. sounds like a nice office to work in!
Alpharius - June 8, 2009 01:03 PM (GMT)
Just don't be Blood Ravens again, seriously I've had enough of the Ravens
Blood Angels deserve a game, I mean they would fill the roll pretty well
If it's anything like Mass Effect then this should rock, easily one of the best games I've ever played
BigWill - June 8, 2009 01:19 PM (GMT)
The one thing that makes me think Shenanigins on the placeholder/chapter thing is
They look alot more polished than a placeholder, the figure we seen in the very first demo a year ago was a placeholder this was full on designed also the box cover art shows Ultras too.
But they would be dumb as hell not to put in some choices but look how they ruined DOW's army painter so anything is possible.
Please no fake wannabe Thousand Sons I hate the Blood Ravens sooooooo Much it is not funny.
Alpharius - June 8, 2009 01:33 PM (GMT)
Well just look at the end with the name of the video, the colour of it says it all really
Ultras are going to be in I'm sure
ShroudFilm - June 8, 2009 01:41 PM (GMT)
Is it just me, or are Orks getting more comedy and Space Marines getting more American?
Aquila - June 8, 2009 04:15 PM (GMT)
They are Marines after all...
ShroudFilm - June 8, 2009 05:47 PM (GMT)
I'm certain that other countries had Marines long before the USA made their non-naval versions...
| QUOTE (Wikipedia) |
Ancient Rome The Roman Navy was known to use marines and naval personnel were trained for raiding and also proved at least two legions for service on land. |
I always found it amusing that Kenner Toys had to get permission from GW for their Aliens action figures because they named them "Space Marines" instead of "Colonial Marines". Heehee!
Mortarion - June 8, 2009 06:25 PM (GMT)
It will be a shame if the Space Marines get too american. Someone need sto reign them in before all is lost and we've got our belvoed Astartes running round shouting "Yeeehaaaw" and managing disproportionate amounts of friendly fire.
ShroudFilm - June 8, 2009 07:01 PM (GMT)
I gather that's exactly what Starcraft is like...
lord_caldera - June 9, 2009 10:42 PM (GMT)
Hey, Americans don't all yell "yeehaw!" Some of us say "get some" or "boo yeah."
DiSTudios - June 10, 2009 12:21 AM (GMT)
Yarr! looks like I finally have a use for that 360 thingamajig my little brother got me :D

Mind if I put that in my sig? :P
lord_caldera - June 15, 2009 02:47 AM (GMT)
Not at all Maratheus! "Get some" is a favorite in my town.
Manneus Drath - June 24, 2009 06:32 AM (GMT)
Well space marines becoming more american...I don't really see it much, unless your thinking stereotypically American. Which they had fit sort of from the get go right? I mean, the "shoot first, ask questions later" thing. Friendly fire I'm not so sure.
Because other than that the only real difference I could see is an accent...and how do you Brits intend to have the Space Marines pull off the whole badass routine with your (varied!) accents? :P
Pacific - June 24, 2009 08:25 AM (GMT)
Yes but surely its possible to have some kind of neutral, gruff accent? I'm not saying they have to sound like what Americans would call a Limey, "Oy there, you seen the Tavern round 'ere?" but at the same time it shouldn't sound like a crap 80's Hollywood action film where they end up using Wrestling stars for the voices.
Personally, I reckon some form of weird latin (gothic?) with subtitles would be far cooler - after all, we're talking 40,000 years in the future the language would be unrecognisable - but the games designers won't risk doing anything that might hamper
the ker-ching of teenage pocket money.
Manneus Drath - June 26, 2009 06:14 AM (GMT)
I always imagined that they were speaking high/low gothic but it was in english for simplicity's sake. What I mean is, I think it would be better to be in our understood language, be it english or whatever, but you can imagine theyre really speaking gothic - whatever that may be.

Hence the American accents. We got the loot. B)
Pacific - June 28, 2009 09:27 PM (GMT)
So thats something you would want to see Benedict? :)
My ideal game would have the marines speaking gothic, and bolter shells and chainswords blowing the heads off and ripping the guts out of orcs, and visa versa (ok I admit I have a problem :) ), rather than the rather cartoony level of violence in this game. But in the same way we have had many potentially great movies spoiled by the need to fit them into a lower classification (terminator 3, aliens vs. predator amongst many others) no doubt we will have the same thing here.
Arden Fell - June 29, 2009 11:27 AM (GMT)
Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare seemed to sell quite in the US despite British regional accents. ;)
As for Gothic, what accents is that? It's a language not an accent.
It doesn't matter what accent it's got American, English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh.
I think for simple's sake they have resorted to Modern English with the odd 'By the Emporer' thrown in for good measure. Think the American accent is just a by product of an american software developer.
Pacific - June 29, 2009 02:15 PM (GMT)
I have no problem at all with American accents in films or games, and in some cases prefer it (American's can swear better than anyone else on the planet!) but the accent does have connotations for gun-ho war movies. If at any point one of them shouts, "they're coming out of the god-damned walls" for instance, it will finish it for me ^_^

I would pay good money to see space marines with a welsh accent...
Lord Commander Lucius - June 29, 2009 10:57 PM (GMT)
Yes, i would also pay if they spoke with welsh accents. It would be so funny.
On a more normal note, the game looks awersome. I suppose i could live with Smurfs in game. They better have colourable marines though. I really need a 360 or PS3 now.
Kharn - June 30, 2009 02:15 AM (GMT)
If I could be promised that a Space Marine would speak Irish in a very thick and totally un-intelligible accent, I would buy it immediately.
One of my friends dad's has an accent like that. It's quite fun to imagine what he's saying.

Looks pretty sweet 2 me
Pacific - July 27, 2009 08:57 AM (GMT)
Welcome to the board hazardousZERO, why don't you come and say hi in the welcome section and let us know (in the words of Cilla Black) "who you are and where you come from?" :)
