Here are some very terrible shots of the experimental heads dor me deathguard.
I need a new camera I know, cuz this one does not zoom in and take shots of small things very well.

This one here is my favorite, I let the GS cure overnight well, morning and then I put the verticle grills on. I sculpted the greenstuff at like 3 in the morning and I forgot my shaping tools were in my car so I had to make use with only an exacto knife.

Thats them and One is the the SM commandor box set head. I liked the look of the bionics and I thought it would fit well.

Jason - June 23, 2009 10:02 PM (GMT)

I have a question, does Canada have it's own ebay? Because there's a good store that i've found, that has the part (and many others) that the person on CMoN used for the plague marine's scythe

And: seriously man when it come to Death Guard ask me or Maratheus, i don't know much about modeling people after characters or artwork, but i've look at lots of Death Guard things since i got into the hobby (1 year ago  )

I've looked at your helmet conversions Jason, and they seem to me to be too rounded in the greenstuff.
They don't look to have quite the definition that Mk3's are meant to have.

I've been doing Helmet conversions for years, and I've found that plasticard is very helpful in making the grill-work. I've even used it when making my Death Guard Dreadnought.

Here's a few examples of this type of conversion:

I cut the helmets lower front (facemask) back to form a point. Usually I gave it a slight outwards curve, but I have tried an inward curve.

Then I use strips of plasticard to form the new facemask and grill. I used to cut these strips by hand, which meant they lacked uniformity. But then I found I could buy pre-cut uniform strips, which has revolutionised my converting.

Lastly I go over with Greestuff to fill any gaps and smooth stuff out, remembering to use the tool toput back the grill-work.

Here's how I did it with the Inquisitor scale SM helmet to better illustrate my point.

Thanks, Im going to try and file down the face mask a little more to make it stick out less, hopefully I can get it to work. I really want to get this stuff done.

ShroudFilm - June 28, 2009 10:58 PM (GMT)
Yes it does work.

Iron Corsair - June 29, 2009 02:07 PM (GMT)
DUDE! Your Dreadnought looks almost exactly like the PH Death Guard Dread at my local hobby shop! Weird. Excellent job on him, though.

DaemonlordAbraxes - June 29, 2009 05:23 PM (GMT)
But i tried it with one of my old topics, and it didn't work for me, oh well, i dont really care that much

Battle Brother Loken - June 29, 2009 05:49 PM (GMT)
Nicely done man

Kharn - July 5, 2009 09:54 PM (GMT)
I'm afraid many people are very protective of their few pre-heresy legs. You'll have a better chance on ebay or a bitz selling site.

DaemonlordAbraxes - July 6, 2009 12:55 AM (GMT)
"Go Ebay!"

No im kidding, you should go to a bitz site

Jason - July 6, 2009 10:18 PM (GMT)

Jason - July 29, 2009 01:49 AM (GMT)
Im really sorry I havent posted anything for a long time, Ive been having some financial troubles with the gathering of models, peoplw who want to see this army done keep looking into this thread and I thank them for there vigilance, just be patient, im working on it now. Oh and for the army plan, Drop pods or Rhinos? although im un-doubtably putting 1 or more vindicaters in. for they are just awesome. Or maybe Pods and rhinos, so I can change my style for different enemies! All it takes is money. ... Damn Greed workshop :ph43r:

Jason

Iron Corsair - July 29, 2009 03:01 AM (GMT)
I'd say Drop Pods, since DG are supposed to be Infantry heavy, as opposed to really Mechanized. Vindies could be called a such and such siege tank, unless your DG are supposed to be during the Heresy, but before they got all Nurglefied.

Jason - July 29, 2009 04:09 AM (GMT)
Yes, there supposed be during the crusades before they got all nurglified. Its before the Isstvan III betrayal. So the marble white loyalist that look so awesome.

Jason

Jason - August 2, 2009 06:28 AM (GMT)
Well Test Fig pics will be up soon, but I must ask before hand. What do you guys think? Deneb stone base with skull white over top or astronomican gray? Either choice will get a good dosage of washes and such so, I dont really know.

Jason

Yvraith - August 2, 2009 08:41 AM (GMT)
For DG I'd say use Deneb stone, but it depends on the look you're after.

But it might be best to do a couple of trial mini's, one with each base coat to see what you prefer.

Pacific - August 2, 2009 02:12 PM (GMT)
Yes I agree, get a list of different ways of painting it, and try a model with each of them. Even try the ones you don't think are likely to work, you might find you are suprised!
