Title: 1000 Point World Eaters
NeDlol - July 11, 2009 11:17 AM (GMT)
Hey guys, I'm wanting to play a fast mobile assault force that hits hard and fast. Also one that at the points bracket looks intimidating.
With that in mind I decided to use the Blood Angels list for this force.
HQ
Chaplain with a Jump Pack, Melta Bombs and Plasma Pistol
Total: 140
And he is in a squad with:
4 Death Company With Jump packs
Total: 50
Troops
10 Assault marines
Vet Sergeant: Power Weapon and Melta bombs
Total: 270
10 Assault marines

Grand Total: 1000 on the nose

I don't know too much about the Blood Angel Codex but that looks like a pretty good list. The only problem you might have would be with tanks, but then again you have the melta bombs, and I'm paranoid when it comes to tanks and how to defeat them.

Hello Kitty.
Well, that looks like it will do exactly what it does on the tin! :)
I use the BA list for my World Eaters and find it works great as a proxy for a crusade era force - you've got the character unit there with the berserkers (death company) and because its a standard list you won't get more than a raised eyebrow from even the most pedantic of pick up games.
Have you decided on the use of jump packs yet? An alternative is to use Rhinos which I've found to be great - not only are they free, but they have the turbo charge move as an added bonus (you can often comfortably make 2nd turn charges with this). They're great for blocking lines of fire, for tank shocking (IMO one of the most underused features in the game, and great against tau and IG who are hugging the rear of the board). Also even if the worst comes to worst and you get exploded, chances are you wont lose more than 1 or 2 marines. I've found on average that a lot more marines make it into combat when moving from a rhino than using jump packs.
Otherwise, I would use Lemartes instead of a standard chaplain. You will need to find the 25 points from somewhere, but the extra wound, initiative, and cool little extra rules are well worth the points!
Just my 2 stikk-bombs worth! :)

Hmm interesting point pacific. I play Blood Angles in 40k so I'm well versed at using cover with my assault squads, but using Rhinos sounds refreshing.
Ok I've reworked the list a little.
Brother Corbulo
Total :100
4 Death Company In a Rhino with Pintle Storm bolter
Total: 75
10 Assault marines, Veteren sergeant with Power Weapon and Melta Bombs, In a Rhino with Pintle Storm bolter
Total: 275

The reason I took Corbulo is that I think he'd work better as a whole than Lemartes. Sure Lemartes gives the Death Cimpany a better chance on the charge witht he re-rolls, but Corbulo gives the WHOLE ARMY a better chance on the charge by giving 30 marines furious charge.

Well, I think either of those lists would be quite nasty to come accross in 1000pts! When you play a game I would be interested in how you get on!
Have you given any thought to how you might represent Corbulo as part of a WE force? I was thinking of some kind of assault combat medic (think it would look pretty funny to have some frothing world eater guy with the medicae double-helix emblem thing on his shoulder pad!) but there hasnt been anything obvious to me about how I could represent his special rules in a mini.
Maybe some kind of combat drugs attachment, ala Fabius Bile, that would simulate both the exsanguinator and furious charge?

I'm thinking of using the plastic medic narthecium/reductor arm to represent the exsanguinator as thats essentially what it is.
The red grail will be harder, I was thinking about using some sort of battle howl to represent the red grail in game terms.
This poses some problems in tournament play where some people may get a bit anal about the fact there is no physical representation of the "red grail" on the model. To combat this I might have to resort to some sort of speaker loudspeaker mounted to his backpack... or I could just tell them its just a game and they should grow up. :)

Dont know how you would model it exactly but a skull with some of its skull carved out and full of blood, could make quite a suitable holy grail for world eaters or something along them lines. Also loud speakers are more Emporers children :)

I want these guys to be loyal, still around the time of the crusade so I'm trying to avoid the whole "we get horny when we take skulls" look that heresy era world eaters have.
