Title: TGC AOTE2 Warmaster roll-call

Whitehorn - July 28, 2009 01:46 PM (GMT)
I'm starting a new topic since we're at the penultimate editions and tickets are running out (8 Warmaster left). I am looking to organise a force for the following:
Armies of the Warmaster generic
I say generic, because if you are Thousand Sons, you may want to join the Siege of Prospero group(s).

All Warmaster generals are welcome, especially those who frequent these forums. I am not claiming leadership of the expedition, though I am happy to wear that mantle should expedition members wish. Rather, I am making steps to ensure we are assigned our own expedition for the weekend and can enjoy or endure our combined efforts in the campaign.

I have purchased my ticket, fielding Sons of Horus primarily, with a host of Daemons and Dark Mechanicus. Please only post here if you have purchased your ticket, I need definite numbers and names.

Purchased:
1. Ross aka Whitehorn - Sons of Horus
2. Mat aka Moon - Death Guard
3. Ben aka King Fluff - Thousand Sons
4. H-Gate - Daemons
5. Laurie aka Shroudfilm - World Eaters
6. Pacific - World Eaters

King Fluff - July 28, 2009 04:48 PM (GMT)
Prospero's very own David Copperfields reporting for duty :P

H-Gate - July 28, 2009 05:37 PM (GMT)
Hi guys... i'm all purchased up and ready to go. I'll be taking my Daemons.

Definately fine with Whitehorn taking charge of the expedition again... in fact i'm starting to think that it was his subtle pulling of strings that turned the vast majority of the noble 954th down the path of damnation this time around!!!

Whitehorn - July 28, 2009 10:24 PM (GMT)
Subtle, me? The only damnation to behold is of those who fail to see the lies of the Emperor!

I'm toying with the idea of making Horus. I would like to do the model proper justice if I did, but for now I have Abaddon half build sat in a box shaking his fist at all the daemons and machines I've been spending time on instead of Sons. He isn't happy!

ShroudFilm - July 28, 2009 10:44 PM (GMT)
I've got my ticket, made sure it was bought for me pretty soon after they were released! :D

I'm listed as playing World Eaters, although the 2000pt eBay army I just bought means I may be tempted to field PH Iron Warriors instead...

Ross, if you're in charge again you have to be LOUDER when they ask "who DOESN'T want to face Orks again...?"

Pacific - July 28, 2009 11:19 PM (GMT)
Ok put me down for WE please!

What was the problem with orcs last time?

Whitehorn - July 28, 2009 11:21 PM (GMT)
There was no problem with Orks, we just had a few cowardly Primarchs ;)

ShroudFilm - July 29, 2009 07:44 AM (GMT)
Or non-present ones who therefore couldn't do jack against the greenskin hordes!

Whitehorn - July 29, 2009 07:48 AM (GMT)
Admittedly we did have to face Chork Norris :P

ShroudFilm - July 29, 2009 07:08 PM (GMT)
Hordes of Boyz? Check.
Biker Nobs? Check.
Painboyz power-gaming? Ummmm... check. Ish.

Gigantic robo-Ork who can make them all reroll Shoota attacks and is generally unkillable? No sir...

Whitehorn - August 4, 2009 04:12 PM (GMT)
Updated, 6 thus far!

Wolf Lord Mjolnir - August 4, 2009 06:03 PM (GMT)
Space Wolves hoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

Ticket purchased.

Russ is angry and this time it most definitely is personal!!!!!

Mjol

Whitehorn - August 5, 2009 08:01 AM (GMT)
Mjol, aren't you both not Warmaster and doing a Prospero task force? please see the first post

Whitehorn - August 7, 2009 08:06 AM (GMT)
As it stands, this is probably not going to work.

Ulfhedim's stance:

We ideally need 10 people to fill it (imagine you turn up and get lumbered with 9 jerks from the TGC with their cool T-shirts).
We should really have the same expedition armies (I can't see how we'd all sit down and decide to make the same army for 6 months just to meet this idea).
The expedition is currently going to fight Dark Angels all weekend.

So, I am going to counter-propose we have an Istvaan themed force and suggest if your army sits outside that scenario, make a decision to find a more suitable one or stick with us. For example, if you join this expedition as a Thousand Son, you won't take part in Prospero.

ShroudFilm - August 7, 2009 10:43 AM (GMT)
9 jerks? Quick, Titus and Mortarion... he's onto us! :D

Ok, so how many do we have fighting Warmaster/Istvaan?

I'm looking increasingly like I'll be fielding Iron Warriors and Imperial Army... so I'm definitely in there!

Whitehorn - August 7, 2009 11:04 AM (GMT)
5, or less if Daemons are not welcome.

It may well just be a veiled way of saying Istvaan and co are full so we have to fight whatever is left.. Dark Angels.

Whitehorn - August 7, 2009 06:33 PM (GMT)
Update.

Ulf is happy to put us in the same expedition as an open Istvaan group, but Ben, yuo really should join the Prospero expedition - they need you!

Ulfhedin - August 8, 2009 01:28 AM (GMT)
I'm a pretty straight talking chap. If I had an issue with Isstvan being oversubscribed I would have just said so! <_<

The interweb thingy is a wonderful tool but in my experience most posts can come across as either being whiney or (in my case) arrogant. I apologise in advance if the rest of this post reads as either... :D

The 'build a themed army approach'. It can be done. I know because I have done it four times before! At the Sabbat Worlds Campaign Weekend (back in 2004 I think) there were 14 guys all taking the Royal Volpone Imperial Guard.

Now some of those people were ex-staff from GW and the core of the group (five) lived within 45 mins of each other but the main factor was getting a good project leader, having people deliver what they promise and open up good dialogue with the event organisers.

You guys already have a community base, already have communication with me and already have people who deliver what they promise. I think you'll be suprised about what you can achieve!

I am willing to put in a narrative thread specifically for TGC guys at Siege of Terra. You just tell me what your taskforce of ten will consist of (in other words, what your theme is) and I'll work with you to come up with a really exciting storyline that ties in with the background of the weekend.

If you start discussions now, you have almost two thirds of a year to get it sorted!

Any questions or support needed, just drop me a PM.

Pacific - August 8, 2009 07:08 AM (GMT)
So my WE are going to be involved in Istvaan? Me no understand! RROOOOAARRRRR!

ShroudFilm - August 8, 2009 09:15 AM (GMT)
Somebody give Pacific's cerebral implants a tap, will you...?

A themed taskforce of ten is certainly do-able for Siege of Terra, guys... but I think we're too few to make a real go of it this time. We've lost Titus Pullo and a couple of others, plus SOT will no doubt stir more of us into action.

At the last event, Titus and I didn't confer beforehand but by sheer luck our armies slotted together nicely - he was all artillery and heavy support, I was all fast attack and assaulters. We won as many as we lost (damn Harlequins!) but we weren't really used to fighting GOOD armies at that time... with a little bit of forethought, we could make a Siege taskforce that will bring tears to the eyes of the Custodes themselves.

Whitehorn - August 8, 2009 10:31 AM (GMT)
Well you guys are going to have to take this mantle upon yourselves if you want it for SOT. I am taking Ad-Mech. Ben is taking Space Wolves, so that's 2 armies that won't fit the theme. I've started (and made) 4 new armies this year already, no more! :P

Pacific, yes, if you want in the TGC taskforce, we're hitting Istvaan for HH.

Magos Explorator - August 8, 2009 02:55 PM (GMT)
Slightly OT, but if the dates are confirmed then when will the Siege of Terra event be? I'd wanted to come to these last two, although I am out of the country with work for this one next month*. If it's a date sufficiently far in the future that I have no current commitments for, I'll devote myself to building and painting a force starting soon...

*And it's looking like the TGC event in October will be the same for me. :(

Whitehorn - August 8, 2009 03:00 PM (GMT)
AGE OF THE EMPEROR: THE SIEGE OF TERRA - 15th & 16th MAY 2010

http://www.tempusfugitives.co.uk/index.php...atid=2&id=12937

Magos Explorator - August 8, 2009 07:01 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the link! That's 10 months--if I'm correct that I'd need 3,000 points, then that's 300 a month, which isn't too impossible (I have painted 2,000 points of High Elves and a bunch of other models over the past year, and the 40k model count would be a bit lower).

Pacific - August 9, 2009 04:49 PM (GMT)
Ok then cool, I'd like to be part of the TGC taskforce would be fun to play with you guys at last!

H-Gate - August 9, 2009 06:09 PM (GMT)
Really like the sound of Ulf's suggestion for TGC specific narrative content should we be able to get enough of us together to commit for something for the Seige of Terra. If anyone is planning on going to the pre-registration in Bugmans on the 11th of September maybe we could discuss our options there? I always feel a little more inspired after a few pints of XXXXXX!!!

We'll have to make Mjol go and sit in the corner and show tourists his Leman Russ so he doesnt overhear our nefarious plans...

May even be able to run some ideas past Ulf on the night if we have any. I'm probably going to do something new and shiny for SOT anyway so it would suit me.

For the HH it would still be cool if we could all play together in some capacity, but as im taking Daemons it will be pretty simple fluff wise for me to play almost anywhere....

ShroudFilm - August 9, 2009 10:08 PM (GMT)
I'm up for a Heretic Council on the 11th in Bugmans...

We can make a little sign to prop on the table that says "NO LOYALISTS ALLOWED!"

Whitehorn - August 10, 2009 11:29 AM (GMT)
OK folks, for those of an Istvaan themed legion/army, you're in an Istvaan TGC expedition. If you haven't yet declared, PM Ulfhedin at the TF forums to ask. This currently includes H-Gate, Pacific, Shroud, Mat and myself.

ShroudFilm - August 10, 2009 12:04 PM (GMT)
I've just found out that my ticket doesn't actually exist, because it was not paid for weeks ago, as I was told it had been... :(

Pacific - August 10, 2009 03:01 PM (GMT)
Lol I'm in exactly the same boat as you, was waiting for the ticket level to drop one (it had been on 4 for ages) before I bought it, and its just gone straight down to zero! Hopefully I will get some reply from Ulf, I don't want all of this paintbrush pain to be for nothing...

H-Gate - August 10, 2009 04:26 PM (GMT)
Sorry to hear about your ticket issues guys...

I'm sure that the TF guys will be able to sort out something for you.

Pacific - August 10, 2009 06:32 PM (GMT)
Panic over, Ulf was kind enough to put another ticket up on the web store! Now I just need to lock myself away in a cave for the next 3 weeks with my paints :P

ShroudFilm - August 10, 2009 07:20 PM (GMT)
Ditto - got me a ticket all confirmed and lovely! :D

I am definitely taking my new IRON WARRIORS now, bought a handful of painted minis and have been busily matching the colours myself and making a 2000pt version of the army! Only two minis left to do - The Red Angel and PERTURABO! ;)

Dang, did I just give away my Squad Contest entry...?!

Pacific - August 10, 2009 07:51 PM (GMT)
Wow, you have painted up your army already?! Fancy doing some World Eaters? :D

ShroudFilm - August 10, 2009 11:38 PM (GMT)
No sir... why you think I switched to black undercoat and silver drybrushing?!

Pacific - August 11, 2009 12:12 AM (GMT)
Haha, damn GW for not inventing a paint that automatically adds shadows and highlights itself! <_<

Thats still pretty impressive for you to get an army painted up in that time though! Spent most of this evening painting a marine holding a severed head, am going to have to stop doing things like that if I have any hope of getting everything done <_<

ShroudFilm - August 11, 2009 12:23 AM (GMT)
Three colours on everything, then go back and add details. I was amazed at how fast the squads built up!

Oh crap, I forgot - add 2 Drop Pods and 3 Deathstorms to that list...

Pacific - August 11, 2009 08:08 AM (GMT)
And a bastion?

Done mine, stabbed a hole in an icecream tub, written 'world eaters lol' on the side with a marker pen, job done :D

H-Gate - August 13, 2009 08:40 PM (GMT)
PM'd Ulf as Whitehorn suggested about alignment to a taskforce for us guys that are not in a position to be at Istvaan. He basically said that the best thing to do is for us to speak to him at the pre-registration on the Friday night in Bugmans and he'll try to sort something out for us that we are happy with.

Not sure if all of you guys can make it on the Friday, but for those that cant i'm sure that we can let him know of the relevant TGC armies involved so he can get an early indication and get something sorted.

I think that when you register on the morning of the event you might run the risk of getting put wherever there is a gap left, which might not be good for everyone.

ShroudFilm - August 13, 2009 08:54 PM (GMT)
I intend to be there MUCH earlier this time... Titus Pullo and I were 2 hours late, IIRC?
