'After the horrors of the Dropsite Massacre, the Raven Guard are trying to survive in the caves and mountains of Isstvan V. Their plight is desperate, and escape from the roaming Chaos Legions seems impossible. Meanwhile Colonel Valerius of the Imperial army begins suffering terrible dreams, believing the Raven Guard to be in trouble. But he faces obstacles of his own in attempting what he believes will be a heroic rescue. Can the decimated Legion hold out against the forces of the World Eaters long enough to reach an unlikely salvation?'
Nice to see one of the less popular Legions getting a bit of love. Shame its only an Audiobook though, and from the sounds of things it won't be getting released in another format (although perhaps Shroud knows otherwise?).

Hmm indeed *drums fingers on table*
Although I have to say, the raven guard will a little more than 'decimated' at Istvaan!
I'm pretty intrigued by the book 'Nemesis' by James Swallow as well, not sure who that is going to be about!

Agreed, it is nice to see the Raven Guard get some love, considering they aren't loved too much PH, or in the modern 40k setting.
I doubt my local library, or bookstore are going to have it for quite a while, though.

If they release a novel-length story as only an audiobook, that's quite disappointing! I am not a marketing expert but I don't see why that would be any more attractive than publishing in book form as well.
I suspect that, if that's the case, more people are likely to either download the audiobook or if the text is leaked electronically get that.

I know about this, but in traditional style... I can't say.
The audio books have been getting MUCH better with each release - on the drive down to Aldershot and back today, I introduced Titus Pullo to all three, in release order, and he was also most impressed by 'Heart of Rage'.
Jim Swallow used to be a script writer, so his work is the most dramatic/cinematic in style (FOTE, anyone?!) and the production values have been getting better and better! In true fanboy style, I am VERY excited about the Raven Guard one.
As for the content - the only reason the PDFs were floating around on the net for 'Dark King/Lightning Tower' was because they were originally a printed chapbook, and only later recorded as an audio book. The stuff they will be releasing from here on is specially written for the format, not a true "novel" as such, but a short story in the wider canonical arcs (be it Fantasy, 40k or HH...)

I think they're a good idea in that you can keep modelling/painting while listening to them, which is nice when you run out of podcasts to listen to that week. I've taken to suscribing to podiobooks, so it'll be nice to have something hobby-related to listen to too.
