Title: Imperial Fists

Hero of Istvaan - August 27, 2009 07:04 PM (GMT)
well this may not be woth a new topic but couldnt find anywhere else to post...

as we all kno im doing PH Imperial Fists for the Gedren Prime campaign and so far there comin along great as im following the tutorial link posted by Rogal Dorn but its for modern Imperial Fists, not PH

so does anyone know what colour there helmets are as the main pic in 'collected visions' shows them as red with a white stripe, is this for rank and file troopers or would troopers be yellow and colour denote rank eg. red sergeants red w/white stripe vet.sgt and white vet co. ect?

any ideas?

Yeah, you've pretty much nailed it HoI, that's either a Veteran or a Sergeant with the red helm.
Your line trooper had a yellow helmet with black stripe.

As for officers, I think Sigismund had golden armour. That any help?

P.S. This thread may have been more appropriate in the PH background Q&A.

I remember reading a thread a while ago (not sure if it were here, or another forum) where the same subject came up. Theres a mix of stuff in Collected Visions with both the colours mentioned used and just a similar scheme to post heresy.

I think a pretty common opinion of this was that the colour scheme might change amongst either Companies or Chapters? One of the beauties of pre-heresy though, go with what you want and its a lot easier to justify!

Sigismund had black armour with gold trim...i have his trading card :P

Hero of Istvaan - August 28, 2009 07:09 AM (GMT)
Cheers guys

@Dorn does he have termie armour(being 1st co. capt.) or regular power armour or both lol

@Pacific yeh that may be the beauty of PH stuff, but i wanna stick to the fluff and get it right, i dont wanna do it my way then turn up on the day and have people say 'u did it wrong, it should be....'

To be a bit more specific I had a trawl through Collected Visions, there are examples of:
- mk3 armour all in yellow, black trim on shoulder pads legion icon on left pad (looks to be tactical squad but not marked)
- mk7 armour, completely yellow (2 of these, presumably defence of palace)
- mk3, tactical squad all yellow but red trim on shoulder pads, legion icon on left pad.
- mk6 assault squad, completely yellow (2 examples of this)

Hope this helps! I doubt you will get anyone pointing at you and screaming 'Blasphemy!' if you put anything you shouldn't have in your army, but I understand your point :P

I say go with Pokeball heads all round! :P

Hero of Istvaan - August 28, 2009 03:15 PM (GMT)
that was my original plan but as i sed i want to get it right, and as pacific said there are multiple images in collected visions so i really dont know now lol

although, i cant understand why they would put a ranked marine on the legion colours pages not a standered marine?? which leads me to belive that the pokeball helmets is thr right way to go?

Well if you go by the label underneath that diagram, that would be the standard. It would also make for a very striking force which should be easy (beyond the usual bang-your-head-against-the-wall-yellow) enough to paint.

Best of all, you get to charge them across the board shouting "Gotta catch'em all!":P

the yellow isnt the problem ive nailed that i just dont kno what to do with the heads! lol

Actually Dorn the novels contradict that.

From Horus Rising:
QUOTE
The two Astartes who had escorted him down from the gallery came over to wait with the Mournival. They were well known to Abaddon, Torgaddon and Aximand, but Loken had only yet seen them indirectly about the flagship. Abaddon introduced them as Sigismund, First Captain of the Imperial Fists, resplendent in black and white heraldry, and Efried, Captain of the Third Company. The Astartes made the sign of the aquila to one another in formal greeting.

From The Dark King:
QUOTE
He looked up again as he heard his own name, given voice by a warrior in the golden plate armour of the Imperial Fists who bore the black and white heraldry of its First Captain.

HoI; what do you mean by you don't know what to do with the heads?
With helmet or without?

Hero of Istvaan - August 29, 2009 07:31 AM (GMT)
Ive got a mix of both, just not sure of the colour  but ive now deciced to go with the red hats with white stripe, like my avatar pic, from Collected Visions

my next questions though is: Did Sigismund have termie armour, as per 1st co. capt? or did he have both power and termie armour depending on the battle in hand?

Itkovian - August 29, 2009 08:15 AM (GMT)
I would go with normal power armour - it has more of a knightly feel to it, which is deifnitely Sigismund's thing... (and I never got the impression he was in termi gear in either Horus Rising, The Dark King or Mechanicum).

Hero of Istvaan - August 29, 2009 06:40 PM (GMT)
well ive done him in both armours so shouldnt have any probs! :D
