Description: news and vids

Okay. I admit it, I am a Halo fan. But I bring you this to tantalise you about what they're doing.
Here's something for the SFX guys. Tell me what's CGI and what isn't in this:
'We are ODST' AdAs for gameplay, this vid has actual gameplay in it.
'Desperate Measures'Some may notice the Magnum pistol. It's supposedly the pistol from the original Halo, y'know the one some gamers said was the best weapon in the game.
And as for Multiplayer, they have this new element called Firefight which may be Halo's answer to GOW's Horde. Watch this and see: (
Warning contains swearing)
'Bip. Bap. Bam. Welcome to Firefight.' ;)

CGI elements from what I can tell...
1) The long shot and background of the burial chamber. Possibly the flames too.
2) Obviously, the stuff he sees out the window during the drop.
3) Some of his armour which wobbles around, and the visor going silver.
4) The entire battle scene, even the soldiers... but not when he gets knocked down.
5) The background during the battlefield burial, including the sky flashes.
Quite a remarkable amount is live action though - I'm impressed!
What does ODST mean? "Orbital Drop Strike Team", off the top of my head? Looks similar to Star Wars: Republic Commando, is that is the case...

Oh man, when I saw this I thought it was a movie and nearly had a heart attack. It was amazing.
Honestly, though I am not a Halo fan at all, I like the concept of going in as a soldier rather than the indestructible super-human monstrosity that is Master Chief.

ok i am a big HALO fan and just saw this tread so im throwing my 2 sents in, and i really like how ODST they are useing silenced smg's instead or the assult rifle as the basic weapon wich i think is real good and how there not Spartans but normal humans, which adds a differrence to the game play( my opinion )
and SHROUD ODST stands for odditsy(sorry cant spell it at all, but it is a Greek poem where oddicious is returning from the Trojan war) again sorry for the spelling dont know how to spell very well

The spelling you are after killjoy is: - The Odyssey & Odysseus. ;)
Apparently the Poem is written by some bloke called Homer.
It and the Illiad are rather interesting reads if you're into that sort of thing.
Pretty cool clip by the way.

I'm also really looking forward to this game myself. As Manneus said, it's going to be cool to play a non enhanced human soldier.
And ODST stands for "Orbital Drop Shock Troops"
ShroudFilm - September 13, 2009 09:25 PM (GMT)
Odyssey (had to think about that spelling!) would work better as ODSE.
I've only played the first two levels of the first Halo, but this does look awesome. I love the various live action things they've done.
What language are they speaking?
Kharn - September 13, 2009 10:17 PM (GMT)
They're speaking Hungarian
It's probably the coolest promo that any game company has ever done. But they did some pretty cool "historical" videos for Halo 3, search em if you want to.
But ODST actually looks pretty good. I'm buying it
