Title: Age of the Emperor - The Siege of Terra
Description: May 14-16th 2010
Whitehorn - September 13, 2009 09:24 PM (GMT)
2 down, 2 to go!
The next installment of the AOTE campaign brings the Heresy into full swing and Horus' attention unto Terra and the Emperor.
The packs are being actively developed, available at Tempus Fugitives, but are by no means complete yet - join in the discussions to add your ideas and suggestions:
http://www.tempusfugitives.co.uk/Fri, Sat and Sun. May 14-16th 2010. We crush the Emperor. Be there to taste the sweet victory! Hail Lupercal!
Preliminary rumours say we're getting cult troops and terminators. I also heard rumours that, true to fluff, Vulkan, Corax and Ferrus will be absent from here on!
ShroudFilm - September 13, 2009 09:39 PM (GMT)
I'll be there! I would have bought my ticket today, but I don't yet know what army I want to play... :D
I'm hoping the focus moves away from the Primarchs altogether actually. They seem to win games on their own, or represent a BIG waste of points if they die ahead of schedule - a lot of players without them regularly lose most games.
Excellent rules though, and lots of fun to play. Roll on May 14th!
Whitehorn - September 13, 2009 09:51 PM (GMT)
I had a different experience this time and sadly I have to say I think that some Imperial Guard players need to get on top of their game. When you invest 450 points in a Primarch, you hope to be using him for 5-7 turns of a game to reach his potential 'damage output'. Facing extensive Imperial gunline players who somehow eat up over 40 minutes to do a turn often leads to a game ending in 3-4 turns due to the timer expiring. Unless you have a very bold or speedy delivery method, you might find yourself getting 1 round of combat out of a Primarch, as I encountered, leaving a rather disgruntled feeling towards using them :)
DaemonlordAbraxes - September 14, 2009 12:52 AM (GMT)
I might be able to go to this one!
Magos Explorator - September 14, 2009 06:56 AM (GMT)
I'm really hoping that I'll actually be around for this next one. :) 8 months means time to start painting a force, just in case...
Pacific - September 14, 2009 07:12 AM (GMT)
Haha Whitehorn I know what you mean.. I think I might just make an all infantry IG force for the next one, hopefully no games will go beyond turn 2 and I'll get a bunch of draws.. ^_^
Whitehorn - September 14, 2009 08:36 AM (GMT)
I'm going to try and approach my lists differently for the next event. We have Cities of Death instead of Planetstrike (currently), so there should be some heroic close-quarter action and limits on LOS. Though some players' interpretation of LOS rules leaves a lot to be desired! I really think Night Lords would have a great, inbuilt, way to help offset the mass Imperial armies, as they enforce Night fight rules!
ShroudFilm - September 14, 2009 08:45 AM (GMT)
Some players have a shockingly bad understanding of the rules... I only point out their errors if they put me at disadvantage though! ;)
Forgetting +1 A for charges? Not taking cover saves? Not knowing what Eternal Warrior does? All fine by me...!
Moon - September 14, 2009 09:33 AM (GMT)
Looking forward to the next one! Think i'm going to take some time to finish my Son's of Orar before working on the next AotE event.
I couldn't agree more with you Whitehorn, the imperial Guard games i played in felt a little drawn out with overly long phases, the game is really quite different when you only play 3 turns!
Having access to Cult troops and Cult Terminators is really interesting! im quite excited about that!
the buzz - September 14, 2009 10:21 AM (GMT)
I might be able to do this one !! I will have staff by then who can cover the shop for me ;o)
Ilmarinen - September 14, 2009 04:37 PM (GMT)
Right... I'm going to get to this one. Definitely! My White Scars WILL make an appearance this time. :ph43r:
Pacific - September 14, 2009 05:39 PM (GMT)
H-Gate has pledged to have brand new, 3000pt force of white scars ready for this event :D
Lord_Mortirion - September 14, 2009 06:02 PM (GMT)
Right im confused, for my Word Bearers would i be using the chaos or space marine codex???
ShroudFilm - September 14, 2009 06:10 PM (GMT)
I am assuming you have of course been to the Tempus Fugitives website and read the download pack for the Warmaster armies before even asking that question...?
Wolf Lord Mjolnir - September 14, 2009 06:17 PM (GMT)
Nice people at GW Maidstone let me look at Codex Space Wolves and I have now pretty much made my army for May next year.
I get married the month later! (June 2010)
Mortarion - September 14, 2009 06:32 PM (GMT)
I'll be there with a combined force of my Custodes from this time (with a shiny new Ancient and some Kataphracts) and the Blood Angels led by Sanguinius! Best of both worlds!
Rick who came with me this time will be doing World Eaters led by Angron, Kharn and Bale.
Lord_Mortirion - September 14, 2009 06:40 PM (GMT)
im reading it now... took me a while to find the link...
ShroudFilm - September 14, 2009 06:46 PM (GMT)
I'm tempted to take Iron Warriors again... only this time, actually make use of the Legion Tactics and not just "whatever I have painted and ready"!
A battery of Perturabo Storm Tanks led by Nizpal would be a good start. Then some more Tacticals to make two 20-man units!
Whitehorn - September 14, 2009 07:56 PM (GMT)
If I could have chosen any list without having to paint the models.. Iron Warriors looked the hardest for part 2.
More congratulations Dave! :)
King Fluff - September 15, 2009 11:20 AM (GMT)
didn't realise you were engaged dave - congrats on the forth coming wedding :)
Hero of Istvaan - September 15, 2009 11:25 AM (GMT)
i would love to get my imperial fists involved especially as its the siege of terra!
but as well as mjol i too am getting married next year in the august so not sure if i would be able to make it <_<
gummywingbat - September 15, 2009 02:17 PM (GMT)
as mortarion said i'll be bringing a shiny new world eaters army instead of my word bearers fancy a change for this one
ShroudFilm - September 15, 2009 02:24 PM (GMT)
I'm certainly slipping towards a bigger Iron Warriors list... we shall see where the build up to Xmas takes me...!
King Fluff - September 15, 2009 03:05 PM (GMT)
be it against better judgement I will be taking the werewolf space vikings to the next event - anyone know what the wolves did after Prospero to stop them from getting to Terra? were they just fighting on Nikea for the whole siege.
I ask only as I'd like to be in the thick of it not sidelined for the next event as an after thought fighting orks and eldar to make up the numbers - if that's the cas I might do a different legion instead.....
mmmmmm, nightlords, alpha legion............iron warriors?
decisions decisions.......
Whitehorn - September 15, 2009 03:13 PM (GMT)
Itkovian - September 15, 2009 03:58 PM (GMT)
Not sure, but weren't they engaged by the Alpha Legion to prevent them from taking part? The Khan was peeved because he had to leave Russ to it...
Hero of Istvaan - September 15, 2009 04:55 PM (GMT)
yeah pretty sure thats right, theres a passage on it in 'collected visions' but in pretty sure the khan sent a messegd to dorn asking if he could go and help after dorn told him to get his ass to the palace and dorn told him no he can handle his self and to proceed on corse to defend the palace...or summin along those lines! :P
(yep there is a passage on it, collected visions pg: 344&345)
hope it helps

Congrats Mjol, and Hero. :) I am actually getting married next August, too.
On-topic, as none of my PH forces are battle-worthy (comes from painting a big of everything but not much of anything) if I want to try I need to start building and painting my 3000 points pretty soon. I have a few ideas but as ever can't pick one to settle on quite yet! 3k is quite a lot to do from scratch, unless I go for high-points models.
ShroudFilm - September 15, 2009 05:47 PM (GMT)
Don't go for high-cost models unless you want to lose... as I found out every time! Having said that, the Red Angel (200pts), Ferrous Ironclaw (220pts) and Perturabo (450pts) basically won my last 2500pt game on their own!
What is all this "getting married in August" nonsense?! Was there a secret TGC meeting to which I was not invited...? :D
Congrats to all three of you, if I haven't said it before.
King Fluff - September 15, 2009 05:58 PM (GMT)
so by the sounds of it a pretty small part to be played by the wolves of Fenris in part 3......
Any Blood Angel players on the boards?
Hero of Istvaan - September 15, 2009 06:03 PM (GMT)
lucius is a Blood Angels player
Mortarion - September 15, 2009 07:21 PM (GMT)
I'm taking Blood Angels to the next one
King Fluff - September 15, 2009 07:39 PM (GMT)
giving serious thoughts to perhaps doing the angels rather than the wolves, just don't want to turn up as one of 6 gazillion BA players but also don't want to sit fighting xenos all weekend (or guard  )
Magos Explorator - September 15, 2009 07:43 PM (GMT)
I thought I read that the Space Wolves got delayed fighting Alpha Legion?
Wolf Lord Mjolnir - September 15, 2009 08:21 PM (GMT)
Right this is the fluff:
Space Wolves were sent to the fringe of the Great Crusade by Horus after Prospero as he tried position those legions that would remain loyal to the Emperor once the Heresy fully broke out.
The Space Wolves were fighting with the White Scars supporting when the Heresy was finally in the open. At that time the Alpha Legion were sent by Horus to delay the White Scars and Space Wolves from reinforcing Terra.
The Space Wolves were ambushed by the Alpha Legion and were getting a battering from a fleet superior in number. The White Scars moved to help the Space Wolves but before they became fully engaged received an order from Rogal Dorn to head to Terra immediately.
Jughati Khan wanted to help his brother Russ and asked for confirmation from Rogal Dorn hoping this would give him time to help. Rogal Dorn repeated his order stating it was of the utmost importance.
The Khan reluctantly left Russ to face the superior force of Alpha Legion alone. He left a message to Russ saying he did not want to leave but had to and passed on Dorn's orders to head to Terra as soon as possible. The White Scars arrived just in time to reinforce Terra before Horus' forces arrive.
Meanwhile the Space Wolves continued to be battered but fought on as best they could. Things looked bleak when 'Help arrived from an unexpected quarter'. That is all we know about what or who helped the Space Wolves. Whatever happened it allowed them to escape the Alpha Legion's trap and speed for Earth joined by the Dark Angels.
When Horus heard that the combined forces of the Space Wolves and the Dark Angels were enroute to Terra his hand was forced. He knew that once the legions of the Space Wolves and Dark Angels arrived on Terra the balance would be tipped in the Emperor's favour. This may have been one of the reasons why it appears that Horus lowered his own battle barge's shields to challenge the Emperor and we all know how that ended!!
I think Space Wolves will primarily be fighting Orks to begin with then Alpha Legion and then possibly any legion. You never know, if the Space Wolves do well we may be able to change the course of events and reinforce Terra itself in time!
The fact that the Space Wolves arrived too late to help the Emperor really hurt Russ and he never forgave himself.
Kidjal - September 15, 2009 09:49 PM (GMT)
I'll hopefully be coming along for the first time after hearing everyone talking about the last two!
Hopefully get my Lutherites ready for next year..

All except for the Wolfblade!?!
That might be a way to get some Wolves into the Terra campaign.
H-Gate - September 16, 2009 04:30 PM (GMT)
Hey guys... after saying all weekend that I would definately be either taking a brand new White Scars army or continue with my all conquering Khornate Daemon's, in traditional fashion i've decided to go for something completely different!!!!
I'm going to be putting together the Eldar army that i've alway wanted, heavily themed and geared towards cityfight with a touch o' pre-heresy flavour o bring it into the period.
So that makes three AOTE events, and three brand new 3000 point armies... i am insane! Ticket bought so no turning back...
Log will hopefully be going up in the xenos section soon, so i imagine none of you power armour types will ever see it!!!
Great weekend guys, excellent to see everyone again!
ShroudFilm - September 16, 2009 04:32 PM (GMT)
:o We've lost him lads, he's gone all pansy pointy-ears on us! Quick, someone get the Life Eater Virus...
Sounds good, mate - how you going to add the PH twist? I'm assuming we'll see Eldrad or someone similar?
H-Gate - September 16, 2009 04:54 PM (GMT)
Funny you say that Shroud - I must have picked up something very nasty at Warhammer World because i've been bedridden for three days with something akin to the Destroyer Virus... not pretty, assumed it was a sign that someone wanted me to take Death Guard!
Yeah, the theming might be tough... may need some help from you guys when the blog kicks off! I think that a good deal of it will be in the "city" that the strikeforce is fighting through, so a lot of detail in the bases and surroundings to bring it into the period.
Eldrad should make an appearance in the bigger games, I want to see if Stu comes up with anything cool character-wise before i commit to too much though!
