Title: Imperial army storm trooper sketch
Tarik Torgaddon - September 16, 2009 07:28 PM (GMT)
To keep it simple (I'm too lazy to write more atm) This is a basic wip sketch of a storm trooper for my expedition force IA attachment, a trooper from the varadian 105 th. S.T.O.T regiment, Nicknamed "The helljumpers". ( In honour of the ODST :P )

So? Any thoughts?
Btw. I intend to atleast too try to make the minis look like this.

Very nice idea and a cool sketch
Are they going to be like Elysian Drop Troops with lots of Valkyries for the heavy support?
BigWill - September 16, 2009 11:42 PM (GMT)
look to Pig Iron for heads like that
grimdisco - September 16, 2009 11:49 PM (GMT)
I second the Pig Iron motion.
Here is a link for you.
The war store. This is about as close as you can get to what you have drawn..
Hope it helps.

Or... cut out the middle man and buy direct from Pig Iron?
grimdisco - September 17, 2009 03:40 AM (GMT)
Neal at the war store Gives a discount and cheaper shipping. :P
Tarik Torgaddon - September 17, 2009 04:25 AM (GMT)
Thanks Horus and Kharne :)
@Kharne: Yes, But I'm using them as a small part (1 or 2 units) , an attachment if you will, to the Varadian 327.th I.V.S.T. or Imperial Varadian Star Corps. But I will include atleast 3 valkyries in the army.
@the rest: Well since it's only two units, I actually intent to sculpt the helmet and all armour myself. To improve my sculpting skills.

If you're in the UK, it's cheaper to buy direct from Pig Iron (looks like TheWarStore's MSRP is based on a different exchange rate to present). £4 is less than $8.50.
grimdisco - September 17, 2009 11:59 AM (GMT)
True. If you are in the UK most things Gaming related is going to be cheaper than here in the us.
I'm not sure why US made minis are cheaper in the UK??
ShroudFilm - September 17, 2009 12:47 PM (GMT)
US-made minis like what?
In fact, I can't think of a single US mini producer. Publisher yes, but not producer...

Privateer Press had Mike McVey as miniatures director until very recently - he is from Nottingham, UK! They have a UK-based miniature foundry.
Wargames Factory are very new, but are indeed based in the USA. Gotta love their sprue recycling scheme - big thumbs up from me...

Love the cheep historical army.

Blizzard have a director from Nottingham (anyone remember Andy Chambers?) but that doesn't make them a UK company either, licensed factory or not :P

I'm thinking we have gotten a bit off topic...( my bad)
Back to the guard concept....
Any ideas on colors you want them to be in?
Tarik Torgaddon - September 19, 2009 04:35 PM (GMT)
No problem :P
Hmmm I had intended to go for mostly black and grey, more specific black carapace armour and dark grey clothing.
grimdisco - September 20, 2009 12:40 AM (GMT)
Are you going to do any camo??
If not then you may want to add a trim color..
Tarik Torgaddon - September 20, 2009 08:56 PM (GMT)
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/halo/images/d/d1/Squad.jpgThis is ths scheme I'll be going for, as if I weren't shamelessly ripping off these guys enough already ;)

I knew there was a reason why I'd been thinking your drawing looked like an ODST for the last four days!
It's just that I was too polite to comment on it!
grimdisco - September 20, 2009 11:27 PM (GMT)
Good luck with that paint job.. Gray is a hard color to get to look good with only black to contrast.
But with the rite base it will give you the contrast you will need.
AND THATS MY 2CENTS :P
Tarik Torgaddon - September 21, 2009 08:07 PM (GMT)
Hmm I'm actually not sure on how to do the bases, though I intend to use the same base scheme for the entire expedition fleet (aka my WE force and the guard/army force).
So I'm open for suggestions.

Here is a link to a tutorial I did for a different form.
My WebpageWith any luck it will help.

Nice idea :D , btw, for a camo pattern, use urban, thats what I see the ODSTs wearing under their armour.
