Very nice indeed – the painting's especially lovely, and the conversion work is very clean. Nice one!

very nice indeed! ;)
its really good to see some-one give the 'smurfs' some proper effort, rather than the usual 'vanilla' from GW we see just about every time the space marines are mentioned! <_<

I really like your teminator's bolter.
Magos Explorator - September 24, 2009 06:54 PM (GMT)
Good work on the armour. :) The terminator's looking very nice too! Welcome to the boards.

Welcome to the boards!I will agree with the rest on how lovely your Ultramarines look.Nice paint job and the casting of the armour looks great!
Cheers! :)

Nom nom nom, delicious! :) I love that Terminator, good use of the CSM head.
The right hand undercoated fella - that's a MaxMini head, and Iron Warriors body, yes?
The original pieces you've cast for yourself are good representations of the older armour MKs. Very impressive.

I love seeing non-regular Ultramarines. They're a great chapter to put to the knife. Good job on these so far!
King Fluff - September 24, 2009 09:16 PM (GMT)
nice looking marines there sir - i too am a home brew kinda guy and your MK2 looks very similar - great minds and all :D
How did you get on with the Maxmini head? Personally I found it a tad small and so chopped it in half (face and back) and then padded it out with green stuff. Are you going to add studs to the armour?
rabblerouser - September 25, 2009 01:29 AM (GMT)
I'm going to keep these as they are. I guess MKII should have more rivets, but they are not as heavily riveted as MKIII. Certainly nothing like MKV.

The maxmini head seems to have fit the bodies just fine. It's not as long as the MKIV or the rest, but I plan on having some MKIII guys using converted maxmini heads with a sloping plate on the front of the helmet.
A dreadnought is in the works too.
King Fluff i actually sent you a pm wondering if you were selling those rhino kits anywhere because I planned on doing the same thing for my transports.

Yeah... I've had some trouble with bubbles forming in the proper MK2 body that I cast. I have many iron warriors bits so I will be using maybe 4 or 5 of those bodies to represent MK2 until I resolve my casting issues. The maxmini heads are very high quality and look close enough to the artwork so there is no sense in me trying to do my own MK2.

I want those legs :D
Looks amazing mate way to start off here with a bang
ShroudFilm - September 25, 2009 01:21 PM (GMT)
Just from a legal position, everybody please remember that RabbleRouser has created these pieces himself and is not openly selling them as alternatives to GW kits, just as his own personal conversion aids.
If you'd like to speak to him about these pieces, please do so via PM.
Anyway... I've not had any issues with the MaxMinis heads, I really like them, although they made my IW sergeant look a little tall!
rabblerouser - September 25, 2009 01:26 PM (GMT)
^I had to drill out the torsos to fit the maxmini heads since they have true scale necks that are longer than what a space marine would have.
ShroudFilm - September 25, 2009 01:42 PM (GMT)
I went the other way and shaved down the necks on my MaxMini heads...! ;)
King Fluff - September 25, 2009 08:24 PM (GMT)
i cut off the neck and replaced it with a plastic GW neck :P
Tarik Torgaddon - September 26, 2009 08:26 PM (GMT)
A really good conversion, and the painting is as said by the others very nice.
Great to see more Ultramarines :)
DaemonlordAbraxes - September 27, 2009 02:16 PM (GMT)

Itkovian - September 28, 2009 08:16 AM (GMT)
Some very nice stuff! I like the termi especially. Could we have a side-on shot of his combi-bolter please? Or what parts you used?
Whitehorn - September 28, 2009 10:20 AM (GMT)
I waited 120 and never got my maxmini heads, you gits :D
Hero of Istvaan - September 28, 2009 06:52 PM (GMT)
