Title: For Dorn, and Him on Earth!

I'm going to start this log right off the bat with an explanation of what exactly I'm doing, and why.

In all seriousness, there are many epic battles, glorious wars and grand conquests in the Great Crusade and Heresy fluff. One of these battles, however, stands out as the most epic showdown there ever was: I'm of course talking about the Siege of the Imperial Palace.

I decided I would use that setting after reading an awesome piece of fan-fiction called "The Last Day", in which the end of the Heresy is described, from Sanguinius closing the gates to the return of Dorn with his Father's body.

The writing was great, but what really stood out, to me, was the feeling of hopelessness. Terra is being inexorably invaded and bombed, the Traitor Legions wreaking havocs on all continents, the Palace under heavy attack. The last defenders contemplate their options, and they all know that it's over. The war is over, and Chaos has won.

I could have done a traitor army - after all, I do already own a (pretty sweet, if I do say so myself) Death Guard army. But I wanted to keep that "no hope" thing, so I went for Imperial Fists (surprise:lol: ).

My first impressions, now that I've begun the army, are that:

1) Painting yellow is hard.
2) Painting yellow is damn hard.

After six minis (including four test ones) I think I'm getting the hang of it, though, and I have a feeling it's going to be very rewarding once I get it right. It's like re-learning to paint all over again!

So, back on track, this is going to be a log in which I will relate the construction of my Imperial Fist pre-heresy army, set during the Siege. Maybe, in time, I will include Blood Angel and White Scar elements in there too.

So far, what do I have? Two models! Being my first models, I haven't done many things I ought to have done - battle damage, proper basing, all these kinds of things.

This one is plastic:

And this one is metal. I didn't even shave off the unwanted details!

Only two, eh? Well, it's a beginning! Here's to Dorn's boys, and to the hope that one day I'll paint yellow as well as I paint sickly green :P !

Glad to see more Imperial Fists armies.

I want to show you this tutorial which I have found to make a fantastic Yellow
http://cbstudios.co.uk/#/tutorial-imperial/4525393843

The easiest way to get a good basecoat for Yellow and Red IMO is with an airbrush
even the GW one is good for basecoats.

Barring that you have to have like 10-15 thin thin(almost watery) layers to get a solid coat with those colors
