Title: Nemesis, Horus Heresy Novel
Description: News from GD

Gagoc TheAncient - September 30, 2009 12:29 AM (GMT)
The next Novel after a Thousand Sons is to be Nemesis.
And it will deal with Assassins.

Please bear with me as by the point I heard this I'd been on my feet for six hours and was zoning-out a bit.

Basically there will be Assassins sent out to kill Horus and/or the Emperor, and Assassins out to stop them. So you'll have a sniper duel-type scenario.

If you're wondering what a sniper duel is, go see Enemy At The Gates. If you've already seen that film, you'll now get what this book is about.

After reading Blood Games, this could be a really cool idea. Still, I'm a wee bit skeptical to have a couple snipers trying to get that golden head shot for 300 pages.

Magos Explorator - September 30, 2009 07:34 AM (GMT)
Thanks for posting; that's interesting news! :) I'm still patiently waiting for Prospero Burns/A Thousand Sons.

Hush now... this is SOOOOOO far ahead of schedule that our NDA doesn't even cover it yet... :D

James Swallow talks a LITTLE bit about it during the interview we filmed on Sunday. That will be released before the end of October.

Gagoc TheAncient - September 30, 2009 06:11 PM (GMT)
Kharn, it's not just the Sniper Assassins, whose name I can't remember.
It's assassins from each of what would become the Assassin Temples'.

Shroud, I was told by the cover artist Neil Koll/Roll (damn I can't read his signature!), as well as the editor-type guy next to him, at GD.

I think that might stave off any NDA threats!

i thought there was the wolf novel straight after thousand sons?
thats what i gathered from the black library at games day???

Whitehorn - September 30, 2009 10:18 PM (GMT)
Thousand Sons and Prospero Burns are both Wolf novels.

ShroudFilm - October 1, 2009 01:57 PM (GMT)
Nemesis is the one after that... we're talking November NEXT year.

Neil Roberts is the artist, and the editor was Darius something.

Now forgive me if I pee on the parade, but there is soo much more in the Horus Heresy that we don't know about that is actually important. My mate says as much, we barely hear about Horus and Erebus now who were the chief antagonists.

The HH series started with a bang, and now they seem to be dragging their heels a little bit. I attribute this to the fact that they used authors who had other well know series out there and that demand was also there, so they are splitting the work load.

We know nothing much of the sallies or the raven guard, the white scars are an unknown quantity, the emporer we know little of, same as Perturabo, hardly anything from the ultramarines point of view, hadrly anything from the BA but they will feature heavily in the siege of terra (if we ever get there) nothing much from Angron, not much from Night Haunter... etc etc... more importantly not much from old golden balls himself.

Why BL choose no to diverse further into assasins when they have so much more interesting things to cover. I bet your ass people would want to read about the 2 chapters who are scratched from history... hell it would create a frenzy.

The Heresy as such has lost it's way if you ask me, now we are just reading about battles some primarchs were involved in. I'm not asaying a story about assasins is not a:) going to be good, or b:) have any merit, but I just think they should get back to the main story line.

ShroudFilm - October 9, 2009 10:38 AM (GMT)
There is a Raven Guard audio book scheduled for next year.

According to Dan et al, they plan to cover EVERY aspect of the era, not just the "main storyline". Also, thing you might not think have relevance from FA or Mechanicum (or Gedren! ;) ) might come back to have a MAJOR impact on the events surrounding Horus etc. The "main" storyline surely involves every individual who was present when the Emperor died, or who was affected by his death... we need to see all their stories from beginning to end, in order to get the full picture.

I don't see that the HH series should just follow Horus and his followers exclusively on a linear track from 63-19 to Terra - that would be dull! There were over a million Astartes, 19 Primarchs and a practically-infinite number of Imperial troops and citizens, and every single one of them had to make a decision about where their loyalties lay. THAT's good plotline, not just a rehash of the Bill King short story from the HH boardgame.

Burtnernie - October 9, 2009 10:53 AM (GMT)
Oh, please don't get me wrong, I enjoy each and every one of them, I just feel that before diversifying too far they should maybe come back to the main plot line just to keep that fresh in the mind.

ShroudFilm - October 9, 2009 03:44 PM (GMT)
Again, I think it's hard to define "main" - I have it from a fairly reliable source (!) that we will not see another book from Horus' perspective in the foreseeable future... he set events in motion, and then it fell to others to continue the Heresy.

The books are not 100% chronological... Prospero is the next "main storyline" event, to be covered in the next two books obviously.

Benedict Arnold - October 10, 2009 02:05 AM (GMT)
So the final book should be published just in time for an early year 31k release date? Sweet.

Torg - October 10, 2009 07:30 AM (GMT)
No kidding I would like to see either The battle for Calth,
or the battle for Signus Prime.Mayhaps the one for Calth be written
by Mr. Graham Mcneill?I think that he would be a good one to write the Ultra perspective,As for Nemesis cool...Assasins(up to this point we have not really heard much on them... <_< )Would it be cannon for them to be around
during the Great Crusade?

ShroudFilm - October 10, 2009 09:52 AM (GMT)
Apparently so! :D

Graham and Dan are reportedly in direct competition for the Calth storyline... there can be only one, etc etc.

Well a Callidus did kill Konrad Curze shortly at the end or after the Heresy, so it stands to reason that they existed before then in some form or other.

Torg - October 11, 2009 06:42 AM (GMT)
Awesome,It's good to see Graham and Dan working on them,
as for the assasins awesome!I can't wait to read it! :)

Pacific - October 11, 2009 08:01 AM (GMT)
James Swallow said on the BL forums that he was hoping to be able to write about the battle for Signus Prime, but that would be some time away as he has to write another novel before he gets to that one!
