Title: Choppers over catachan

hallo everyone,

just thought I'd let you in on my newest conversion (which hasn't started yet but will probably be done tomorrow if the second kit I need arrives).

basicly what I'm thinking is:
Troop carrying section of a valkyrie plus the front of a landspeeder =

I've already converted a lasgun to be a bit more 'm16' like so that'll have to get cast so I have enough.

I'm going to get hold of some M1 helmets and such from The Assault Group miniatures.

I've also got some WIP white scars that have been lieing arround for ages so I'll try and get some photos up! A techmarinine on bike with servoharness looks awesome.

I look forward to seeing how this conversion goes.

To save time on the lasgun mods, you could use necromunda autoguns instead.

 I'm looking forward to seeing it to  wish the valkyrie I've ordered would turn up soon!

I was thinking about using the necromunda lasguns, I have a few arround here somewhere but I don't think I could scavenge up enough for an entire army. I'm hoping to have at least 100 models on the table at 1500pts :D good ol' cheap guardsmen!

Right I don't like replying to myself but as I've actually been able to do some of this conversion I will. Had to go into GW today and buy a valkyrie as the one I've ordered online doesn't seem to be arriving any time soon and whoever is running the site I ordered it off doesn't seem to want to communicate, thank god I payed through paypal!

First of all the seats from the valkyrie fit replace the land speeder space marines leg's really really well!

Took virtually no cutting what so ever other than to remove all the little attachment tags that the chairs had to fit into the valkyrie cockpit.

not looking particularly huey like at the moment but defenatly more modern chopper look to it than the valkyrie normally has. Its still mainly held together with tape so I can take it appart to paint the insides when I get to that point.

This looks extremely promising. You see alot of WWI and WWII takes on 40k but I haven't seen too many 'Nam inspired pieces. Once I get a few projects out of the way I've been thinking of making a Vietnam war inspired river patrol for Catachans. ;)

Looking forward to updates. :)

Reminds me of the marine transports from Aliens. I think. It's been a long time since I saw that movie. A damn cool concept though, be sure to keep this updated!

That is looking very nice.

I look forward to seeing how this progresses.

Ah Huey's, that shot always brings back memories...... :D
(Not of Nam, just riding in them.)

One of my local store members has a heli valk. I'll see if i can get some photos of it at the weekend and posting them up on Sunday. Like the idea a lot.

Colonial Marine Drop Ships! I've always wanted to 40k one of these babies up... But much like "The Betty" from Resurrection I've never gotten round to it!

Although now you have reminded me... I just may!

I played against a guy at AOTE2 who had loads of chopper Valkyries... they are impressive conversions!

Thanks for the inspiration. I'm going to make a Valhallan Spetsnaz army, and was going to make Hind-style helis for them.

Does anybody know how small/big this addon is:

Im thinking about buying it and fitting it inside my valkyries because they are not bad looking and you could still swap heads with GW production heads...

The Forgeworld ones with the elysians will be released but maybe these will also do the trick...

Will someone try it and report so that i dont waste to much money ? ;)

Maybe an alternative to these guys here (Pic is from Brückenkopf Online a good german newsside about everything tabletop and roleplaying):

Any updates?

I've done a fair bit more on the model I've just been lazy and not got my camera out. Going to get some mini painting done tomorrow so I'll make sure to take some pictures of the valk along with other projects.
