Title: My Emperors Children
Description: A blog I may never keep up to date.

Johnny_Hawkwind - October 14, 2009 06:29 PM (GMT)
As seen elsewhere I have posted an example of my colour scheme but I thought I would attempt to keep a blog on the armies journey.

Sat on my desk at present then are:

Command Squad Box
Terminators Box
5 man Assault Squad
5 man Tactical Squad x2
5 man Devastator Squad
3 Bikes
1 Attack Bike
4 Rhinos

Maxmini helmets
FW Mk IV armour

As well as building the army and painting I need to learn how to play the game. Now, I don't mind going into GW for a chat but the idea of being humiliated by some over excited brat doesn't have me full of joy.

If I get any games in I will use this thread to show how my learning goes.

As I progress any C&C will be most welcome.

First step, make a 500 point list.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Believe me it is very satisfying to be able to look back over a year of progress using a blog.

Take any loses on the chin and learn from them. As long as you learn there is no real loss.

I haven't been able to replicate my test piece colour scheme. That'll teach me to take note of my mixes. In it's stead I have used a basecoat of 50/50 Warlock/Liche Purple and applied a few glaze layers of pure Warlock.

Overall I am fairly happy with the result, pics later.

On the list front I am thinking for 500

Captain, Artificer Armour, Relic Blade
5 Tactical Squad
5 Tactical Squad
5 Dev Squad w/ Missile Launcher, Lascannon, Melta and Heavy Bolter

My concern is it's a foot slogging force and may not even make it across the board to use the heavy weapons. Option B is

Captain, Artificer Armour, Relic Blade
5 Tactical Squad, Rhino
5 Tactical Squad, Rhino
5 Assault Squad, Jetpacks

The trouble here is a lack of vehicle killing ability.

I need to play a game to see where I think I should head. Better get painting.

Okay, lefty is my test scheme - righty is my new purple. I don't think I have lost too much and once the gold is done I may actually prefer the new scheme.

Great stuff! As DLA said you've done a nice job with the paint scheme, and also good job with the stud spacing on the mk5!

Thanks. Painting is going slowly as I have started my degree and studying is taking up a bit too much of my time. No advance on the 'Learn to play the game' front either.

A slow week with only three models extra models at the same stage as the above beakie. After winning a Mk.1 Whirlwind on fleabay I have decided on my 500pt list to learn with.

I now just need to paint a few more models and some vehicles. Why must I paint so slowly.
