I'm trying to create a fan made reference for city fight, and need some pre heresy examples.

Emperors Children vs those four-armed, snake-bodied xenos (Layr sp?) from Fulgrim would be a city fight, albeit over xenos (corel-like iirc) terrain, maybe?
Also the fight where the DG, WE and EC's turn on each other and get virus bombed by Horus was a city fight (someone else will have to supply planet name and book ref cos my brain doesnt appear to be working properly...).

The planet Laer, with the xenos Laerin (IIRC?) had vast coral cities which floated a few hundred feet above the wide calm oceans?
The assault by the Sons of Horus, World Eaters, Death Guard and Emperor's Children on the rebel world of Istvaan III... and then immediately afterwards in the wake of the virus bombing and firestorm, loyalist and traitor factions from the same legions fought amongst the ruins.
Basically, pick up and HH novel and you will find at least one reference to a cityfight situation! :lol:
All of my terrain is designed with Istvaan III in mind.

Yeah, I just started reading Horus Rising after the post and I read about their siege of the ''Emperor's'' palace, which I count as city fight.

There is another "city fight" in Horus Rising but I won't spoil it for you.

Extended fighting in the cities of Aureus vs Auretian Technocracy (Sons of Horus, World Eaters)
The next two are pretty much on the cusp of the outbreak of the heresy, i.e. many Legions have already gone traitor but their treachery is not known to the Imperium at large:
City of Light, Prospero (Space Wolves & Thousand Sons)
Choral City, Istvaan III (Death Guard, Sons of Horus, World Eaters, Emperor's Children)
Heresy itself:
Stahlenburg, Rostern I (Ultramarines)
Siege of Terra (nearly everyone :P )
