ghostmaker - March 15, 2008 04:42 AM (GMT)
What would be a good list to use to make a Legion of Emperors childeren "rules Wise" ?? ? ? Liked using Chaos cause cheaper Marines and more of them yalls thoughts and how would yall bulid the list ?
Vredesbyrd - March 15, 2008 10:47 AM (GMT)
I personally use both the Chaos and Space Marine codices depending on what I fancy.
As for the list, that's down to personal preference, we can offer help once you give us a list to critique, other than that not much I can suggest without knowing what sort of gamer you are.

SM codex gives them 'They Shall Know No Fear' and access to more interesting combat doctrines, so my choice would be that.
CSM codex should be used for the more 'rough-and-ready' legions, IMHO.

well i want just what the Legion is Perfection ...just a horde of troops aka Chaos.. But Marines one would be godd for rules but they would end up costing 20pts a model (True Grit & Counter Assulat and Grenades) opposed to 15pt models with almost same thing.........

Actually the cheaper option is better as you still get your bonus attack for charging!
I use the Chaos Dex and give them Mark/Icons of Slaanesh to represent their striving for perfection, but I call it "Pride of the Phoenican" (because it sounds cooler).
Also if you are basing your EC's later in the heresy you can add in Noise Marines with Sonic Weapons or just give your Asp. Champ a doom siren to represent inplants like Lord Commander Eidolon had post Laer, and take the rest of the squad as standard.

K well it's suppose to be early in it lil after *Ullanor. So still Loyalist.
I wasnt sure what Mark i could/Should do ?
What type of Commander should i Take ?? Lord, *Sorceror, Or Demon Prince...
Want something Hits hard and can survie but a good model
What do yall think it would be *Vespasian.
*=dont now how to spell it/ or wrong Sorted. Vredesbyrd.
Yvraith - March 17, 2008 07:54 AM (GMT)
If it's based just after Ullanor, you probably just use a Lord for your HQ.
He's fearless so just give him a mark of slaanesh (+1 Init. for a total of 6), He also gets a 5+ invun save as standard.
If you're worried about your basic marines running away you can take Noise Marines as a Troop choice but just use them without weapon upgrades. At 20 pts each, they have the benefits of mark of Slaanesh (+1 Init.) and are Fearless (so no morale checks). :)

I was looking looking over the chaos Codex, and found it quite interessting.
I could use a Demonprince to represent Fulgrim.... that would be awsome.
Also you could use the very mean slaanesh power Lash of Submission and play it as Perfect taktika.
And what i will maybee do it i try using them with chaos codex, ill give them all the Sonic Blasters. Replacing the name with, special range training. wow, i am starting to like the codex....
ghostmaker - March 17, 2008 09:39 PM (GMT)
yea the nosie Marines would be cool ...but there expensive and i wouldnt get alot of them compared to the other just Chaos .. I'm not to worried about Morale checks really . The demon prince idea is not a good idea to represent fulgrim(primach) hes to easy to kill in a sense.

your best bet for representing a primarch (without deviating from the codex) is to use Abaddon....
ShroudFilm - March 18, 2008 03:38 PM (GMT)
I found that a perfectly good (and virtually indestructible!) Primarch can be made using the normal SM codex, with the right wargear...
Weiss - March 18, 2008 04:01 PM (GMT)
[whisper] You should have used the mod voice, he's using the chaos 'dex... [/whisper]
Then again, Abaddon does have a chance of killing himself...
ghostmaker - March 19, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
yea id use abbadon Rules ....but i think for the display piece i may just have them roaming though a ex Impeiral City or Isstavan
ShroudFilm - March 20, 2008 11:33 AM (GMT)
For Imperial cities you can use any of the Gothic Ruins sprues... but for Istvaan you'll have to get more creative - they don't use the same architecture.
I built most of my ruins terrain as a display base for stuff in my glass cabinet - the shelves are 18 inches apart, and a single layer of minis was too sparse! Having multi-storey buildings gives a great chance to use up all that room!

And what wargear would you use?
Brother-Captain Basilus - March 30, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
I'd say use a Master with;
1x Lightning Claw (modell it as a sword if you like, it's just to get those re-rolls ;) )
Bionics (these can save lives..trust me :P )
Crux Terminatus (to get the extra attack)
Artificier Armour (nothing beats 2+ saves)
Iron Halo (hhmmm...4+ save :) )
Adamantiummantle (sp?) (just to avoid ID)
That brings you to 200 pts, quite reasonable I think..
But I prefer Abaddon
:P
At laest that's how I will represent my Fulgrim.
Crazy_Irish - March 30, 2008 10:25 PM (GMT)
jep, you can make him quite strong using such things, but he will still be as strong as a normal SM and that is the point where I say, there has to be more, but with the SM Codex, there is no more....:-(
GreyWolf - March 30, 2008 11:10 PM (GMT)
Yes, I'd say a Daemon Prince of Tzeetch would be better (Tzeentch to get the 4+ Invunerable Save) to represent Fulgrim. Unfortunately, Brother-Captain Basilus, you cannot take both an Iron Halo and an Adamantine Mantle because they're both in the "Relics and Artefacts" section where only one item from the list is allowed in the whole army. So I'd definately say that a Primarch would be better represented by a Daemon Prince (Monstrous Creature makes sense, as Primarchs were so big compared to everyone else). And you could use Doombolt and Bolt of Change to represent a strom bolter (i.e. Bolt of Change is the ranged attack and doombolt is the close ranged "rapid fire" attack). Throw in wings to represent his quickness and speed, and you've got one heck of Primarch for a measly 185 points. Personally, I like the fact that he's tough to kill, but not impossible; makes the game more interesting. And he doesn't have to die either; he could just be "going to another area of the warzone".
