Hi all. I recently posted in the Trading Boards that I will soon have some of the Primarchs and their illustrious leader -
LINKYI also said that I would have concept art to do with this range. so without further ado, here you go...
Sanguinius

Mortarion

Leman Russ

The Emperor (This is for the old model, but the artwork is too good not to show)

And now someone that I know many of you are looking forward to getting your hands on...
Lion El'Jonson

Available approx end April/ early MayPM me if you are interested B)
ShroudFilm - March 18, 2008 01:26 AM (GMT)
Awesome! :D
For the benefit of any GW loyalist/money-grubbing IP snoopers - I would like to point out that none of this material is the product of any of our members, but is rather the work of independent miniatures designers with whom none of us have any business interest. These images have been linked from external sources. So there.
Just thought I'd clear that up now... :P
recceboy - March 29, 2008 10:28 PM (GMT)
Great art work none the less.

Magos Explorator - June 5, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)
That's good. :) I like the Roman feel. Between this and the new GW figures, Ultramarines are beginning to look cool!

Sorry to one up you, but I don't think that Smurf's will ever be cool! (I wish Gargamel would stop messing about and just crush them  )
That said it is a rather nice sketch. :D
Manneus Drath - June 5, 2008 11:06 PM (GMT)
Hey! Ultramarines were my first army...its not their fault that GW uses them for every marine thing. They ARE cool! :P
Kaleb 'Angelus' Dante - June 6, 2008 12:46 AM (GMT)

I hope that it helps to inspire everyone as to the sort of thing that might be looked for in the Phoenix Knight competition B)
Horn - June 6, 2008 10:03 AM (GMT)
Very nice work!
Just curious, the note says '5 blade talon' but I see 4 ?
Weiss - June 6, 2008 10:28 AM (GMT)
If you mean his left hand, then I believe you haven't counted the thumb?
Anodyr - June 6, 2008 10:34 AM (GMT)
I was sat here thinking I must be a right spanner cos I couldnt see the note Horn was referring to on the Smurf pic, and finally realised he was referring to the Emperor pic, which does indeed only appear to show 4 blades (including the thumb).
ShroudFilm - June 6, 2008 10:41 AM (GMT)
Perpsective, guys... of COURSE the Emperor has 5 digits!
Anodyr - June 6, 2008 10:45 AM (GMT)
Not in this case it would seem - look at the reverse angle shot. Clearly only three separate finger sections joining onto the palm part of the glove...
Obviously that doesnt mean he doesnt have five digits within the glove, just that the note is wrong in reference to the number of talons.
Vredesbyrd - June 6, 2008 10:48 AM (GMT)
Papa Smurf looks well good. I think my bank balance might become quite low very soon...
Weiss - June 6, 2008 11:02 AM (GMT)
Ah, that's who he meant... It was probably a note after the artist had finished the drawing, as the model has five talons...
Tarik Torgaddon - June 6, 2008 03:29 PM (GMT)
That might become a rather cool mini, damn this is going to hurt my wallet.
Rogal Dorn - June 8, 2008 09:28 PM (GMT)

Nice! :D Looks like my wallet's going to be missing a few
bucks for a few months!(Including my B-day!)
Apologist - September 3, 2008 09:33 AM (GMT)
Coo – only just found this thread, and wanted to comment on how great the reference material is for the sculptors – what a talented set of artists!
Extremely impressed by Fulgrim – the finery of the armour and the sculpted base will really set off the pose: a nice combination of intense and driven that belies his later fall...
I like the Gulliman concept too: I presume it's based on this piccy, right?
That said, if there's still the opportunity for critique, I think I'd have preferred to see armour that owes more to this:

It just looks more pre-heresy to me (as well as having a cool giant inverted Omega on the breastplate).
Not quite sure on the shouting pose, either – I prefer the brooding look of the lower concept sketch, though obviously a little dynamism would help! Perhaps the cape whipping across the front of him while he gazes off into the distance with 'model pose #34: brooding and intense'. ;)
Minor niggles and personal preferences aside, I really like the face and hair design – exactly how I see Roboute – and the shoulder pads are very striking; combining Graeco-roman influences with the traditional 'marine' feel.
Actually, at the risk of sounding like a cheeky git, any chance the Graeco-Roman influence could be extended over the armour? Mark II segmented armour already owes a lot to the 'lorica segmentum' worn by some Roman legionaries, and a shorter stabby sword without the crosspiece on the handle would not only look cool, but would mean that the pose could concentrate more on the power claw.

no  *shuffles uncomfortably* It is of course not based on any pre-existing artwork and completely independently devised...... :ph43r:
As for the other picture, there is already a mini in circulation that is extremely similar to this made by a certain Polish artist.
;)
Apologist - September 3, 2008 02:43 PM (GMT)
Facepalm!
*Crunch*
Whoops. Better replace the bionic eye and rebreather while I'm fixing the great big bionic foot in my mouth.

Tarik Torgaddon - September 30, 2008 04:29 PM (GMT)
I have but one thing to say: Skulls for the Golden Throne, Blood for the emperor!
shorty - September 30, 2008 07:42 PM (GMT)
wait a second....Dreadlocks ????????????
And is he a Psyguy like his Brother One Eye ? Because this in the back is a psychic hood (if you see this without the cables for that brain thing with the cables he is the Gladiator)....
He looks like a Gladiator yes he does....but not like the Gladiator Knight he should be...he need more cables going into the head because of the brain surgery and that brain stimulating apparatus...
Iacton is he already in the making ? Because they are also redoing the other knight they should take their time....
I think take the best of Reglucs Heads and combine it with this complete body and you have the perfect Gladiator Knight.
Aquila - September 30, 2008 08:31 PM (GMT)
I must admit, the Head would really profit from a few changes...
And I just thougt I had finally decided myself to do Iron Warriors. And now you show me THIS... ;)
