Title: Salamanders, 1500 points
Description: Tiriel is going mad again.

Hi boys and girls!

I have a good and strange story to tell you.
This week, I bought on eBay some resin bases sets, because they were cheap and cool. But it was only after buying them that I wondered "what to do with them?". Kinda dumb I am.
But kinda mad I am too. And since I had done three Salamanders minis (at the beginning, only to make one squad +character), I thought "Why not making a Salamander army?".
The sets were: 20x25mm bases, 5x40mm bases, and 1x60mm base. I got two of them, + one "display" character base. So it's 53 bases. The challenge: to have about 1500 pts.

Now you should be warned: I don't knw if my army is cheesy or not, but its purpose isn't to steamroll over every encounter.

Now, first shot:
Traits: Cleanse and Purify, Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients.
Drawback: Face to Face (don't know the english name, so not sure)

HQ:
Chaplain: Power fist (I know, I know... but I think it looks cool on chaps')

Elite:
Fire Drakes, two squads: 5 guys each, each squad including 2 heavy flamers, Vet sarge with Master Crafted CC Weapon and combi bolter-flamer

Troops:
Salamanders: 4 Tactical squads, each including 2 flamers

Heavy Support:
Ancients: 2 Dreads, each with MultiMelta, Reinforced armour, and smoke launchers.

If I haven't forgotten something, this makes 1500 all round.

Any comments? Ideas on that one?
Any Ideas to go 2000? xD

Cheers!

It's a nice big chunky list man. Those 40 (I assume) basic marines will give you great objective grabbing potential and keep you in the fight for a good while. Are there to be any transports at all? I can see the dreads being picked off pretty fast if they're on their own...

True, true...

I could take-off the equipment for both of the Termi sarges, and the Reinforced amour from both dread, in order to buy 2 drop pods for the dreads. What do you think?

Or I could manage to buy many transports (rhinos, drop pods, and some fill-ins) to get to 2k points?

EDIT: By giving the termie and the dreads Drop Pods with Deathwind missiles, and Rhinos with reinforced armour and smoke launchers to the tacs, Points go up to 1932 pts
But I'm not sure of how usefull the Pods will be for termies...

Any other idea?

If the drakes are termi squads, doesn't that make the serge's weapon a power weapon?

Dropping the equipment from the sarges would make it less fluffy, which, I don't think would sit well with you, plus extra armour is a bit of a must-have for all vehicules (in my opinion).

I'd go with bumping the limit up to 2000 and fill in the extra gaps with a scout squad or something.

I quite want a Sally army, and to be honest this is more or less the army I'd run, though maybe have a Melta and a Flamer in each of those Tac squads.
