Her personality is by far the least likable aspect of her career this past decade.

it's funny u say that, cause it was her personality that really elevated her to legend status in the first place. she's been boring for the past decade, i get to agree on that, it's just that confessions was such an outstanding era that made us all forget about her real self. once the music and image lower our expectations, her lack of sincerity and interest is suddenly revealed in all its glory.

sometimes i do wonder why she bothers anymore. i mean, bowie will always be a legend and stays true to his heart by making the records he really wants to make. she's always claimed bowie was her ultimate inspiration, why can't she look up to him nowadays? from now on, it's all about dignity. she has nothing else to prove to anyone.

I guess she has always craved commercial success, approval and power. She can't seem to let that go at all. In some ways, it's a wonderful thing, but in other ways it's a major barrier.

You're right about her personality though. I used to think of her as such a cheeky, wisecracking, fun, tongue-in-cheek, exuberant person. That couldn't be farther from the truth anymore. I know people change and if she's happy as she is now, well that's absolutely her right as a person. As fans though, it's a far cry from the fun Madonna of old. It's like the fun of life has been sucked out of her. I doubt that's actually the case, but it's how she comes across most of the time. Whoever thought we'd be using the word "uptight" to describe Madonna?
