Title: Alanis explains the story behind My Humps....

"There are 15 different interpretations, and they’re all true. Some of it is me not being precious at all. I was in the studio with Guy Sigsworth and he would say, “What horse from the apocalypse are you bringing in today, Alanis?” Because every song was this tsunami of emotions. So I said, “I wish I could just write a really simple song—a song like ‘My Humps.’ ” Then we had a pregnant pause, looked at each other, and said, “All right, let’s do it!” Within moments we were recording the piano version of it, and within a week we were shooting the video in my garage here at my house. However it’s been interpreted has been entertaining for me to watch."

As is your opinion, my son.

How is she an inspiration? She makes good music but as a person she's quite boring. I watched the MTV gig she did some years ago where people were able to ask questions in between songs (concept= :manson:) and she was going on and on about things no one cared about. Really a 'shut-up-and-sing' situation.

But then again, I really enjoy her music.

Have you guys even listened to her lyrics? They're incredible. How could they not be inspirational?

Tell me ONE thing you've done in your life that was inspired by Alanis's lyrics.

I find the cover so incredibly melancholy, and reflective. Especially about female artists and if they dont have their arses hanging out then they are given no worth, or are called dykes. Its horrid

And she inspires me. Her music really 'talks' to me like no other artist

It's not like I went out and killed someone after I heard You Oughta Know, that's not what I mean. What I mean is that her lyrics have helped me and she's taught me some things through her songs.

GTFO and go listen to your awful Antony and the Johnsons records.

She's an inspiration to me too. Her lyrics and her visions of the world are quite enlightening among the either silliness or the violence in nowadays music. Very few artists are describing the world nowadays and Alanis is one of them.

Songs like Utopia, Out is Through, Thank You, Citizen of the World, Front Row are really inspiring.
