I bring life to the Book section.
I recently finished this class, American novel for my English class. I enjoyed its sly, yet cute tale. It definitely brought out the true colors of the South innocently.
However, I agree with critics that the end sucked and countered the rest of the story. But I do not see it as bad for its claimed racism and use of the N word, as it was actually satiring it.
Heh, anyone else read it? I doubt it, but it's worth a try.

Although it is a classic, I didn't like this book because of the N word (sorry). The first sightings of that word is at page 12. According to Wikipedia, the book contains 212 uses of that word. <_< There has been countless attempts to remove that word from the book. When my sister and me talked about the word in the book, my sister siad, "That word wasn't vulgar back in the 1800's."
Tom Sawyer didn't use the N word, so that might be going on my Christmas wish list. :)

But Huck does not use the word offensively. It was a normal thing in the time to refer to black people as such in general. He never degrades them with them word and I think it's dumb that people can't get over such a simple word.
Actually, Tom Sawyer uses the word too and a bit more offensively than in Huck Finn. Tom is more racist.

That info you told me just removed Tom Sawyer from my wish list.

It's still a classic novel and I loved it because of its cute adventure-ness.

I'm glad you're gonna read Huckleberry Finn, but I must warn you-this book used the N word.
