Title: What do you belive...
P.Cyber - March 2, 2008 02:30 AM (GMT)
... Do you believe Maria could have ever survived the bullet shot? Think about it, she could be on their Earth, telling the government info about the project Shadow-- or not saying anything. If that was so, that would explain why Rouge went after Eggman (also, Eggman freed Shadow)! I Don't know. Debat a cool answer on what you think on Maria living or not.
Kiko-Chan-64 - March 3, 2008 03:08 AM (GMT)
Eh, depends where she was shot... She could have faked death and hidden on the shuttle for all this time. Just throwing something out there, though.

Or...Silver could have traveled back in time at that precise point to prevent it from happening.
sonic-GT - March 7, 2008 04:29 AM (GMT)
I doubt that she's alive I don't see why (if she was alive) would go around telling the government about her best friend... and Silver probably doesn't even know about Maria whether it would even be his business or not. *shrug*

I do have a theory. But it's messed up and you may not like it.
She survived the gunshot, but the trauma put her into a coma. She was found three days later and pumped full of painkillers. That's why Robotnik became Eggman, essentially losing a majority of his ominous presence. The drugs kicked in and stabilized her coma dreams. Instead of being the terrifying and dark world of Mobius, it became an idyllic, less menacing world and she's able to live in this world, but only as an observer. Being in a dream state and full of meds, she can never interact with the locals, or even alert them to her presence.
It's also the reason the Sonic universe's storyline changed. And it would also explain Sonic and Shadow both being hedgehogs. She was married and her husband had a rival in the real world. Since they couldn't be human in this anthropomorphic utopia, they were changed into the black hedgehog Shadow, and his rival, the blue hedgehog Sonic.
That would also explain why Shadow never really falls in love and will do anything in his power to try and bring 'Maria' back. She wouldn't want her husband cheating on her, so he becomes dedicated to beinging her back.

Maria's dead. In the game she was listed as dead, which is why Gerald went insane. Maria was shot in the head and at close range, so her chances of surviving are slim to none. Plus, we don't know if the soldier who shot her only shot her once. He could have shot her many times.

You're forgetting though that this is what was happening in Maria's subconscious. Which is exactly why they had to use the painkillers. Her earlier dreams, aka Shadow's memories were strictly of her being 'killed', so the painkillers were introduced to stabilize the dreams (as well as the ones of Mobius), essentially allowing her to create a safer universe where her mind wouldn't have to experience the trauma, and could be free to create anything her heart desired. Whenever any conflict would happen, she essentially had full control of the results (hence all of the fights between Sonic and Eggman). If any major trauma happened, it was expressed through the characters, pulling her mind deeper into the delusion.
She substituted Shadow for her husband to further justify the world she wanted to create (a world of anthropomorphic animals, aka a world where bad things don't regularly happen).
I know what you're thinking though. Why animals?
Her mind probably thought of the least threatening creatures, and manifested them in this fantasy, aka anthropomorphic animals. After all, nobody would think of them as dangerous or militaristic. It's a sort of defense mechanism the brain uses whenever the body receives such a shock. But since her brain was damaged by the shot to the head, her mind became fragmented and couldn't create the perfect world until the medication kicked in. Logically speaking, if the meds weren't introduced and if her mind couldn't manifest this world, the trauma probably would have killed her anyway.
As I said, it's a messed up theory.

I was actually talking about the recording Gerald made that Sonic and the others listened to. He says that Maria was killed and that all he could think about was avenging her.

Oh, I thought you were asking me about the coma theory. But yeah, she's definitely dead. Or in soft speech, mortally challenged.

Yeah what? Then what's the deal with what's in the picture?
Sky the Fox - March 23, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
Okay, I take it back, she wasn't shot in the head. But she could have been shot in the back and put her hands on her chest. I don't see any blood in that shot (then again, it's a kid's game and they wouldn't have blood anyway).
Anyway, my point was that she was dead.
SGT.Miles_Tails_Jenkins - March 25, 2008 09:30 PM (GMT)
there is absolutly in no possible way shes dead, if theres no blood, then shes alive, trust me, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DEATH WITH NO BLOOD...
if she was shot teh internet that is WAY away from a shot, there is no way that she would TALK and be shot in the heart, and the laws of physics do apply some in sonics world, and read what she says while you see that hand motion, its not holding her chest, that is 2 palms touching, she is clearly, by the dialogue and the hands, that she is praying or begging, not holding the chest. look closer, and you'll see i'm correct. she does not show pain, if you were shot, you would be in so much pain if you were shot in the chest to even talk much, all you would do is heavy breatheing to keep yourself alive.
Sky the Fox - March 25, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
Prehaps she was shot after this screenshot, and her hands are in prayer or on her chest because she's out of breath from running.
SGT.Miles_Tails_Jenkins - March 25, 2008 09:36 PM (GMT)
i would say thats true, because she technically is dead by any standards, there is no way Maria would survive the bullet, unless the man who fired it aimed in a less inportant place that it dead not kill her (key places: Heart, brain, neck, big blood veins leading to heart)
Hiroko Kitsune - March 26, 2008 02:44 AM (GMT)
I have a Theory, but it's a little crazy... ^^;;
Yes, after a Gun Soldier Shot Her, Gerald tried to prevent her from dieing by
placing her body in a Machien that would provide oxygen, minerals, and other
stuff that was escential to survival. Maria, probably in a coma or so never woke up,
so Gerald presuemed she was dead, and started with the Space Colonie ARK
Thing. Somehow the machien managed to preserve her for until Shadow was awakend by Eggman. The energy used to Charge and nearly implode ARK and
Earth altered the Preservance machien Maria thus, transforming her into a
Hedgehog *FTW?* Or somehow I find most people call her "Light The Hedgehog"
or something like that...
Yeah... I told you it was crazy... X_XMaria The Hedgehog Refrence Pic
Sky the Fox - March 26, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
That pic is someone's fancharacter who I think is supposed to Maria reincarnated.
Super Sonic - April 12, 2008 06:32 PM (GMT)
There is NO possibility that Maria survived the shot. She is definetly dead.
