Title: Queston about Sally Acorn?

Sunshine the fox - March 7, 2008 07:12 AM (GMT)
Lots of people think that Sally acorn is a character created by the Archie Comics. Well I was on Youtube, looking at the comments of a Sonic Video, and someone said that she made an appearance in Sonic Spin ball! Is this true?

Yes, Sally made an appearance in Sonic Spinball, in the first bonus round. She was one of the trapped animals. She was there because Sonic Spinball is a US game.

Yes, she was in Sonic Spinball. Buuut, like 2Tails said, Sonic Spinball was made in America unlike the other games. Sonic Team/SEGA of Japan said that the game could be made as long as it didn't interfere with the storyline of the other games whatsoever.
Technically Sonic Spinball is only as official as the comics.

Princess Sally Alicia Acorn is a fictional character appearing in the American saturday morning cartoon Sonic the Hedgehog from 1993 to 1995, as well as the ongoing Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series published by Archie Comics. In 1993 an article in Sonic the Comic (Sonic the Poster Mag #1, late 1993) announced two new television series starring Sonic the Hedgehog, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog. Within the four pages of plot synopsis and concept art, a group of screen shots that greatly differ from the rest appear without explanation.[2] These screen shots have circulated through the Internet contributing to the theory of a cartoon series aborted before production which has been dubbed "The Mystery Cartoon" which nowadays is known as "Pre-SatAM".

These screen shots include a character named "Princess Acorn", presumably a squirrel with yellow fur and blond hair wearing a red dress.[3] She shows up alongside characters that have since been featured in Sonic the Comic. This character shares little similarities in appearance with the Sally of today, but as her name suggests it is likely that this was an early design of Princess Sally Acorn.

What. Sonic Spinball, never thought about that. While i cant seem to remember her staying as a captive. Though i was sure she hadn't made her first appearence in Sonic Archie comics. I actually thought it was Sonic Satam that made her breakthrough though it was only a short moment as she was replaced by Amy.

Never wished that to happen cuz i was more of a Cally fan then Amy fan.

all i know was that she was the only female sonic character who didn't wear clothes. (besides bunnie)

I dunno about Sally...

She's pretty popular from what I see and hear over websites and such.
All I know is, she's never really appeared much in a Sega game, and I heard from my brother that Sonic and Sally broke up in one comic I've never seen yet.

And I quote:

Sonic: Sorry, Sal, I'm not up for marriage, I'm to much into going on adventures."
Then I heard Sally ran and left Sonic for ever, apparently, Sally was asking to get married with Sonic, and Sonic denied it, he liked adventures.

Thats what I heard.

Alot of people get confused by that because the comics started being sold before the show began.

Here's the deal though. DiC created the SatAM characters (Bunnie, Antoine, Rotor, Sally, and later on Dulcy), not Archie. But it was Archie that messed up Antoine's character (making him brave instead of a coward). The reason the comics came out first is because it takes alot less time for a comic to be made versus a whole cartoon series. But indeed, it was DiC, not Archie that invented the characters.

The reason Sonic breaks up with Sally in the comics is because Sega controls the comics to a higher degree than they controlled the series (it also doesn't help that Archie royally butchered the SatAM characters on a regular basis back in the day). If SatAM had been allowed to run its course, Sonic and Sally would've probably been married by the end of the series.

From what I remeber...

Amy Rose was NOT created by Sega. No, she actually originated from the corocoro comic company, owner of the comic called, Dash and Spin, Super Fast Sonic!! Somewhat like Archie in America. In this comic, Amy was LITTERALY Sonic's girlfriend. And Sonic was actually called Nikki in the serries. Here's cover to give some detail.

You may be asking... What does this have to do with Sally Acorn? Well...

Sega introduced a new character in Sonic-CD, which was Amy rose herself. Amy rose... beleive or not, when she first debuted, in America, was not known as Amy rose. Heck, she wasn't even called Rosey the rascal.

The name they gave her, don't bash me saying I'm wrong, was Princess Sally. Now alot of fans including myself was like... WTF?! Why would you name a character like Amy rose, princess Sally, when it's obvious all the fans know who the other Princess Sally looks like? I'm not sure what those people were thinking, but apparently they messed her into the Squirrel we know today =3
