Wow, I must be losing interest in spriting or something.....Now I have so many topics that I didn't feel like typing out all the "news".

Anywho, you're probably expecting a Croc sheet update or an animation or something, but before that, I need to know something.



I decided to mess around with Croc's fur colors. While I was working on the sheet, I noticed that his darkest color is actually darker than the outline, and that's a no-no. =O But to change it would throw off all the other shades, so...here's this. The re-shade's on the left, and the original sprite is on the right.

It's hard to tell a difference, I know, so that's why I put the 400x comparison.

So, my question is, is the re-shade good enough? If not, I'll tinker with it some more, but if so, I can go ahead and fix all my sprites so I can post the latest updates.

Quite a few things wrong.
- His left hand is huge.
- The eye's dark colour, needs to have more contrast, from the next.
- The single spine on his left seems to stick out quite a lot. If he was directly facing us the spine, would be significantly disproportionate from his head and his other spines.
- Wearing Sonic's shoes.
- The body is just a recolour, try to add some originality, for example White fur, or even an odd colour like green/red. It can have a significant effect, and really makes the character more original.

You haven't really re-shaded it, re-shading is when you revise the shading and make certain parts of the object darker and lighter in line with the revision. What you've done is re-coloured the pallet.

Yet it is a very good improvement making the lines very sharp and eye friendly. So good work on that. I also want to compliment you on using a different to normal arm type, it gives a more unique look to the character.

This is only to help, I'm not trying to dishearten you. ^^

I could always give you an example of how it can be improved, if you give me permission?

-That hand's there because I couldn't find any other hand at the time and never got around to changing it. Actually, it's the same hand as his right hand. I'll probably be too lazy to fix it for a little while longer. xD

-That's intentional. Croc's a clone of Sonic, so...yeah, he's got the same shoes as him. I know it's not very original, but then again, nothing's completely original anymore.
-Do you mean his stomach? If I made that white, he'd seem like some kind of hybrid, which he isn't, and if I made it red or green, that'd look...kinda weird.....The legs actually aren't the same as the original Sonic legs, anyway.

Yeah, re-colored's what I meant. The shading probably stuck 'cause I was messing with the different colors of those shades, so, meh. xD

Anywho, thanks for the comments and the advice. I'd rather fix it myself.

About adding fur to his chest/ belly...
That would'nt make him seem like a hyrbrid at all. Think of Shadow for a sec. ^^;

But like I said earlier, Croc is a clone of Sonic, not Shadow. It still wouldn't make sense if he had the tuft of white.

Well, that may be true, but... if he were an actual clone of Sonic, then why are his eyes, spines, and fur color different than his?
Just curious. DOn't need to answer this if y'don't want to. ^^

Oh, and if a fur belly doesn't suit him (hy, I'm just saying this 'cause you were mentioning that it'd be weird if his skin were green or somthing), there's always the option of changing the skin color to b something lighter or darker, such as tan, pale, yellow-ish, etc.

Of course, just trying to trhow out some ideas here. ^^

I could make his skin darker, more like Shadow dark, but the skin on his sprites is the same color as Sonic's, so...yeah.

Anywho, I made some adjustments to my sheet, so here it is.

Now to point out some obvious crap that I know, but will only say so you don't have to say it.

For the pose sheet, I fixed the fur colors on all the sprites (Gotta love the mass recoloring trick. =3) and I messed around with the eyes so there'd be more contrast. (Which threw off the colors on some emotions where there's three shades on the eyes, causing me to fix that. I don't think those are quite perfect yet.) I didn't fix the quills, 'cause that'll take a little while, and I still haven't messed around with the hands on those specific poses. I also added a jumping pose and that thing where you clasp your hands together and slam them down on your opponent. I'll say one thing: Knuckles is a pain in the *** to edit. I know the shoes need to be worked on with some poses. I'll do that later. Finally, I changed my credit box and added a little "joke" for the first time in forever. =D

Now the effects sheet. I changed the Chaos Wave effect, because this one looks cooler. =3 I also got rid of the Proton Cannon, since nobody, including myself, was using it. Also, I took a shot at making my own Heavy Blade, just to see if I could, and since I was getting tired of the other one. I lack talent when it comes to making weapons, so go easy on me here. Also, I'm thinking about maybe changing my Power Blast effect, yet again, to see if I can make it more...like a real beam.....Or I'll probably replace it with some Capcom beam or something.

Anyways... if you're looking for tan shades... you could always make his skin color be a yellow-ish tan, a regular tan, or no skin color at all; like a Dark Sonic look.

Yeah, maybe the last one does in fact look too much like Dark Sonic, but I don't think it looks half bad on him, really.

There's a buncha other tan colors, too, but yeah. =P

It looks a lot better now. Maybe the jeans need re-shading, they look too flat.

Update on the Croc sheet. I recolored the skin to the second color that Jirachi provided, and I included attacks for Croc's Semi Berserk form on the effects sheet. I'm not going to actually do the Semi-Berserk Croc sheet because it's a simple recoloring of the eyes, which anybody can do. If you think it's so hard...*coughmassrecoloringtrickcough*

Yeah, and the colors for the Semi-Berserk eyes are on the sample poses for Croc's forms on the bottom-right corner of the sheet.

PG: Tails's muzzle has four little...whisker...things.....But you're kinda right. O_o

Anywho, threw in a couple of new standing poses for Croc. Plus, I took all the sections that only had, like, one sprite, and put them in their own little group.
