TSSZ News is reporting that the G4 show X-Play has done an unexpected turnaround from their previous stance on Tails, by naming Tails the #1 Video game Sidekick in a Top 5 Sidekicks list. (For the record, Luigi came in 2nd) X-Play has been known for bashing Tails in their reviews of Sonic Games, including their reviews of Sonic Riders and Sonic Rush.

Well, we can always hope they won't bash him again now that they put him at the top of a list like that.

If they know what is good for them yes. I think massive Tails fan's will send there protest once they will find out that they bash Tails again.

Yea, I am supprised as heck by this as they always bashed Tails like crazy. Infact for awhile, if they even mentioned Sega, they had to throw in some kind of Tails' bashing somewhere (like they used him in a joke when reviewing "Sega Casino"), and they even plain out said "Tails sucks" in their review of the first Sonic Riders.

I wonder what made them change their mind all of a sudden? Maybe the writers of the scripts for X-Play finally got their senses and that bashing games all the time made the show look stupid and predijust (since they always tend to find any little, unknown games just to bash it in a review). And Sassier has said some good things, like he had some pretty good statements about the problem with bigotry on Xbox Live (Can be seen here).

Either way, I am glad to see their changing their views and stopping the bashing of Tails, and maybe other characters.

But as said by Tailsfan, who knows if they will just go back to bashing Tails again....

Why be surprised that they used to bash Tails? Tails sucks. Period. He's a stupid, worthless character who ruined the games. Sega should focus more on new, well-developed, deep characters like those birds and that chameleon guy. It's a shame that X-Play would sink so low as to give this stupid freak of a character any positive recognition.

Alright ppl, lay off of X-play. That show has remained a good show, for as long as I can remember watching it, and some of the people and characters they bash bring a smile to my face, so what if tails takes a hit or two? Every character worth while recieves some crititic it's part of the path to being made worth it. Any game X-play says "Tails sucks" in is probably more Sega than tails, cus he is pretty useless in some of the Sonic games...it's not because he's tails...it's because the ppl working at sega are more worried about stupid new characters with no real meaning.

Well, that is true, like the abomination that was Sonic the Hedgehog on 360/PS3, that deserved every bit of bashing it got ^^;. Also, Tails (and anything other than Sonic, Shadow, or Silver) was pretty much useless in that game since he was uber slow and could only throw ring-bombs... Buy yea, Sega needs to focus on their main characters rather than introducing tons of new ones.

But X-Play used to like bashing characters just for the heck of it. And they would be fine if they were actually funny and they were in character but most of the time, neither is true.

They had obvious biases too, such as Adam hates RPGs and put down Final Fantasy allot due to it, and I sometimes think these biases might affect their reviews. Speaking of that, their hardly what I would call professional, but I don't think that's their point.

I guess two years of being a member here and 1000+ posts aren't enough to prove that I wasn't serious, huh...

Before I make a statement, I'd like to ask: was some sort of poll conducted, or was this just the opinions of the show itself?

I'd like to know that too, but from what they write, it pretty much seems like that's the opionion of the X-Play team, since there are no polls created by admins or the X-Play staff about video game chars.

And btw, he IS a sidekick. He helps the main character, Sonic, do stuff. He's a HELPER he is always at Sonic's side to kick people!!

And btw X-Play bashes every game....I've seen them bash games they give 5 stars.

From my stand-point, I would agree with most (hence the word most) what they said about Tails, for in these "New" games Sega is producing, Tails either sucks from a playability stand point, or (referencing StH) Tails was so dull that he had no god d*mn emotion and felt more like a robot than organic from actions, the only emotion I ever saw from Tails was from the Archie Comics, well, which stood out, all the rest was well, predictable, and dull, as for from what I've seen from the games, he's never mad, sad, paranoid, obnoxious, or any others, all I saw was that same content face of his with some dialogue slapped in from an actor, which can really "alter" a characters importance or for that matter likeability for the gamer.

Don't get me wrong, i'm a Tails fan, but if ST and Sega can't give him some emotion, posture, etc. then I don't see the point in having him, which goes for the rest.

Yeah, the hosts of X-Play really don't have much of an opinion of their own. They pretty much say what they're told to say. In fact, they don't even play most of the games they review (which isn't surprising when you think about it).
