So according to the poll conducted a few months ago, Metallica is the most popular metal band here. Which of their albums is in your opinion, the best?

Here is a little more explaination for those who aren't aware of them:

The only albums out of these I haven't listened to much of is Reload, and I've been told it's not worth listening to.

My favourite Metallica album would be And Justice For All. "One" is Metallicas best song IMO. It was the song that made me like them in the first place, and there are other great songs on the album too such as 'Harvester of Sorrow', 'The Frayed Ends Of Sanity' and the self titled track of the album.

Long live Metallica! Lets hope they turn back to their early 90's/late 80's style with Death Magnetic.

I'd go for Ride The Lightning, best Thrash album & best Metallica album \m/

I think they're all good, and each of them have my share of favorites, but my favorite has to be The Black Album. Nothing Else Matters, Sad But True, Enter Sandman = Legends. Second goes to Justice. Very powerful

The best Metallica albums I think are the first four, (Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of The Puppets, ...And Justice For All) The Black album was pretty good so was Load, Reload. My Favorite album Is Master of the puppets, my least favorite is St Anger.

I like every song on "justice" and it was thier last album before they sold out. And you forgot "Garage Inc." and "S&M", both are pretty cool.

S&M was just live stuff I think, with a whole orcestra helping them out, which a lot of people liked. Can't say I did though.

Garage was just a cover album.

I only put down the written by Metallica studio albums. I'm listening to And Justice right now =P

S&M had some new stuff, and the quality is studio. Garage Inc. was still some of their best stuff.

Garage Inc had some B Sides too, it was a good album.

One on the S&M album sounds great.

st anger

what you thought i liked crap? get outta here

no, ride the lightning, master of puppets, and the black album are the sexiest things in my music collection that has metallica's name on it

I can't get into anything beyond ...And Justice For All. That was the last decent album they put out - they lost it after Cliff Burton died. Maybe not as a direct result of his death, but it coincided nicely with their decline.

I prefer Maiden anyway. :P
