Description: SEASON 2: The Mystery of Shady

Hiroko Kitsune - September 5, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
Yeah! Season two >:D I'm going to try to make my chapters longer, insert some more drama and stuff... Things get kinda funny too XP

Chapter 1: A Letter From King Harris

PROLOUGE

After that huge Dark Shady incident, a year has gone by, and Things have gotten a little quieter for us. Yeah, everyone in Knothole figured out we were the thieves. But! Because we defeated Lord Void, they let us keep the stuff as a gift! Lucky us, huh? So it’s a quiet day, like always. Though, one day when I was checking our mail, I discover, we have a royal invitation to Emerald City, yes, the Treetop Kingdom of East Mobius. Since it’s been a whole year since then, I was a bit curious. But the messaging system is really slow on West Mobius, so it didn’t matter too much… So I ran inside… and showed it to Shady.

NORMAL POV

“Shady! Shady! Look! We got mail from the King!!” Casey cheered, sounding happier than ever. Shady slid off the bed, and turned off the TV he was watching. “Well, what does it say?”

Casey opened the envelope; a piece of paper, with a golden border was reveled. “Dang… Rich guys sure are fancy these days…”Shady shrugged. Casey sighed, and Read the Following~

~~~~~
Dear Residence of this house,
I, King Harris of East Mobius, have heard of you defeating Lord Void, the old man who has been terrorizing our Kingdom for nearly 30 years. For this, I am quite surprised that two children such as yourselves have defeated such a villain. But, I am also quiet grateful to it. In order to reward your noble deeds, I have invited both of you to my castle for a short stay. To tell me how you managed to defeat Lord Void, and maybe get to know each other better. I would be happy to have you soon in about three days. Please try not to take any relatives with you, it’s best for you to go alone.
Wishing you the Safest Trip,
Harris Acorn The Third
“Finally! Adventure once again! Eh, Shady?” Casey cheered. Shady chuckled, “Yup, we’re on the road again, huh? It’s a long walk to the next Kingdom… Mind we go talk to the local twin mechanics for a plane?” Shady grinned. “Not at all!” Casey punched his shoulder.
What he meant by local twin mechanics, were actually twin hedgehog’s that spent their days in a garage making gadgets. Static, the noisy carefree bother, and Shock, the twin who took things more seriously. Both were geniuses, yes; But with two completely different personalities. They even have two homeless ones staying in their house. Cloudy, they found in a destroyed city, most of his limbs missing. The boys, being geniuses, restored his body with mechanical parts. And a girl who went by the name Kimi, she always followed the twins around, like a Duck and her Ducklings. They were actually quite annoyed with Casey and Shady’s occasional visits. Since they only came around for things they wanted to borrow, instead of buy.
What more was, their houses were only a few meters apart, so they could come daily if they wanted to.
“Alrighty! We need a plane, and now!” Casey barged in through the door, with Shady following her. Cloudy groaned, “You two again…? Ugh… In the garage, like usual…” “Thanks. I think…” Casey shoved Cloudy aside, and Shady shrugged and followed her.
The garage was always filled with anything electronic. Especially parts, almost like the twins could build anything out of everything, no matter how old of rusted. Shock, who was zapping at some sort of box, while Static now where in site. He was usually in the basement anyway.
“I should have expected you two to be back… Well what’dya want now?” Casey grinned, “A jet plane.” Shock’s jaw dropped, “We don’t even have one of those!” Casey shrugged, and pressed a button on the wall. The center floor flipped over, showing that a jet plane was underneath the garage the whole time.
“Well… what makes you think we’ll let you use it? Besides! We haven’t even tested out the thing yet.” “I’m a customer. Remember?” Shock groaned, “More like a freeloader…” “Whatever, We’ll pay you back!”
The glass covering opened and Casey hopped into the pilot seat, Shady followed her actions, by getting in the seat behind her. Shady grinned, “See ya later! We’ll come back with it just as it is!” Static popped out from the basement trapdoor. “I highly doubt that…”
The engines charged, and the plane blasted into the sky. The wings would circulate around the plane, as it flashed through the air.
“You sure you know how to fly this thing?! Shady asked, Casey nodded, “The twins gave me piloting lessons before!” Shady rolled his eyes, “I hope they did! Or at lest you listened…”
East Mobius Castle, 2:34 P.M
“The letter has been sent, your highness.” The badger bowed. “Excellent, then we can discuss some matters with them in an amount of days.” Harris Replied. “Uncle…” The King’s niece came into the throne room, “Who’s visiting?” Harris chuckled, “The two young heroes who defeated Lord Void! Now Melody, remember your manners tomorrow. We’re going to have dinner with them soon.” Melody nodded, and left the throne room.
Melody was a pale girl; she never left the inside of the castle, for any reason. She was quick to judge, but kind hearted, though she does show a small amount of self-centered attitude occasionally.
“I wonder who were the ones that killed Void…” She sighed, “He must be really strong...” Melody continued trotting down the many large hallways of her castle home. Everything she could remember, it was always in the castle. Though, she wasn’t always in the castle. The day, castle guards found her lying on the cold forest floor. They took her in, then King Harris decided to adopt her, he thought she would make a nice princess. Ever since then, she never left the doors. Many thought the reason she never left castle grounds was because she had a rare illness, though it was just a rumor going around Emerald City. And Melody HATED it; that made everyone think she was some sort of freak, when she wasn’t. Though, her days inside the castle were soon to come to an end.
Eggman’s Headquarters, 12:14 PM
“This is no good…” The Doctor mumbled while circling his steps, “The more Shady uses his powers, the more easier it is for him to instantly transform and loose complete control of his mind, then go rampaging! Soon, his original self will not revert back, and he will destroy everything that he can!”
Shadow only crossed his arms and watched Eggman make plans to capture his clone. He didn’t care for Shady, nor wanted to get involved with him. But with an evil genius like his creators grandfather being worried about him, he going to cross him again some day.
“Though I have most of his information, I still don’t have enough! We need more data…” Finally, Shadow couldn’t stand anymore of his masters pondering, “Why not check ARK? Since you did find him in a capsule before, it would be the only logical place he could have come from.” Eggman shook his head, “Then that wouldn’t make him your clone… More of a… failed project… I suppose there’s more to this Shady character than I expected… That’s it! We need to lure Shady to ARK! Shadow, I’m going to put your abilities to a good test… Are you up for it?” Shadow nodded, grinning, “It would be my pleasure to prove myself better than a clone…”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
East Mobius Castle; Emerald City, 4:04 PM
”Case’, all we need to do is land!” Shady pointed out. “Right… uhh…” “What’s wrong? “Casey scratched the back of her head, “They didn’t teach me to land…” “WHAT?!”
And with crashing, and shacking and earth crumbling quake, the two made it safely to the ground. Unlike the plane. Which was terrible, because it was a rental, only. Shady climbed out the busted hull, helping Casey out as well. When they both saw the condition of the plane, smoking, they stared at each other, then at the plane. Shady groaned.
“There goes our security deposit…” He face palmed. “Huh! You couldn’t have done any better!” Casey scoffed. Shady rolled his eyes, “That’s true actually… Never mind! Let’s just go!”
Emerald city, being the gigantic forest city it was, was always sweet smelling and quieting the roughest of souls into the kindest and generous people. Even just staying in the place made everyone feel quiet happy. Even Casey enjoyed it herself. Everyone was always friendly, even to the darkest looking visitors. Shady’s odd look scared most people away, he was always sad about it, Casey because of how alien like her tail looked being split in half, she hated many people because of how much of a low-life they treated her. Not in this town. The castle, large and grand, over looking the entire forest with the same two guards from their last visit. They both greeted them happily, knowing how heroic it must have been to defeat Lord Void.
“I remember you! Your that messenger kid! Great to see you again, huh?” One of the guards punched Shady’s shoulder. “Ah… it’s nice to see you too!” Shady rubbed his shoulder, trying to sound friendly, not knowing his name and all… “So… what brings you to the Castle again? Here for a visit?” The other guard asked. Casey nodded happily, “Yeah! This letter right here!” She pulled it out her jacket pocket, the golden edged letter, with the royal seal at the bottom. “Great! I’ll see ya around dinner.”
The two guards opened the large doors, once again revealing the grand inside of the castle. Looking almost twice as majestic as the outside. Shady gawked; it never ceased to amaze him. Casey would only sigh; she wasn’t the least bit interested in how big the castle was. She only wanted to eat some nice food for a change. The both remembered where the throne room was. The large doors in the center of the room, unlike last time barging in.
“Ah! Casey and Shady, was it not! It is quiet a pleasure for me to see you both again! Tell me, how was your trip?” Harris greeted with his usual happy smile. Shady bowed, “It is an honor to see you again, your majesty.” Casey smacked the back of his head, “Stop sucking up, it’s revolting to see you like this…” She groaned. Shady glared at her, she returned a dry look. “Don’t ruin our reunion with a fight, and please lighten up Shady, I’d rather be considered a normal person.” Casey stuck out her tongue to him, “I told you, he doesn’t like that sucker attitude either.” “And maybe you should calm down a little Casey…” Harris replied. Shady smiled darkly at her. Casey looked away.
Then at that moment, the girl, yes, King Harris’ adopted niece. Entered the throne room from the back. Casey was the first to notice her. A big grin stretched across her face and she ran over to her like she just saw a truckload of gold.
“Oh my god! Michiko!! I thought you were dead!!” Casey grabbed both her hands and started to rapidly shake them, She stared. “Umm… not to be rude or anything…. But who are you?” She stepped back. Casey blinked, “You’re my best friend… from Aikoto Village. Remember?” She shook her head, “No. I’m serious, I really don’t know you.”
Casey couldn’t believe what she just heard. Michiko didn’t remember her? -Maybe she wasn’t Michiko… No… She looks too much like her… - She thought.
“Michiko, I…” “My name isn’t Michiko! I’m Melody!” She shouted. Casey was shocked. Michiko wasn’t the type to get angry easily. Still… She knew this was Michiko, and something must have happened to her when she left her home… She still didn’t know who our where the fire originated from… Did Michiko know of it?
“Fine… Whatever you say ‘Melody’.” Casey groaned. “Shady… Hey. What’s up with you…?” -He was spaced out the whole time…? What’s he looking at?!- Casey thought to herself.
He stared, lost in a trance. Gone, left Mobius. He was staring at Melody… The entire time? Since she appeared in the throne room? Yes. He was. He wasn’t moving; not an inch. His ocean crystal blue eyes locked onto her. Casey groaned, she saw right through him. That blank stare, just like in the movies she was disgusted at. Shady had a crush. On Melody. The girl who used to be her friend, but is now a royal pain… And there was one more thing Casey knew better than anyone else. He wasn’t going to get anywhere with her.
“Are you blushing?” Casey looked dry. Those three words sent Shady frantic, “Wh-wha?! I am not!” Shady stepped back. “Yes you are… Your cheeks are red…” She started teasing him, and Shady was getting annoyed. “Leave me alone!” She smirked. Got him. Harris could only laugh to this nonsense, being an elder and all.
“Save the jokes for dinner! Go wash up, we’ll have a nice feast waiting for you afterwards.” Casey smacked her lips, “Sounds good to me!”
Then, all of a sudden… An explosion blew off the roof. Melody screamed. They all looked up, only to see the Eggmobile floating directly above them. Everyone knew who that could be.
“Eggman!” Casey shouted. Eggman laughed, “That’s right! And as we speak, Shadow is setting a bomb somewhere in your precious castle!” “What?!” Harris cried. “Have a blast! And maybe you should come along too, old man!” light shot from the hole in the ceiling, carrying Harris up, and up, and away… “What’s going on?!” “Uncle!!” Melody’s eyes started to drip with tears.
“If you want your King back, then you’d better take him back!” Then the Fleet, which had abducted Harris, flew away, along with Eggman himself. Then the explosion just as Eggman told happened. The throne room was immediately flamed. Casey hated fires, since her brother had died by one.
“This is terrible… What do we do?!” Melody started to sob in her knees. “Don’t worry… This is nothing compare to what we’ve done before!” Casey grinned. She grabbed Melody’s arms and started to propel up, out the hole in the ceiling. Melody squeaked, not used to flight. “What about him?” Melody looked down at Shady. “He can take care of himself…” Casey smiled. She didn’t lie about it either. His rocket shoes flashed on, and Shady blasted up like superman, meeting at the same altitude Casey was at.
“But… My uncle… What do we do?” Melody sighed. “Don’t worry, We’ll get him soon enough, Melody.” Shady replied. “Oh brother…” Casey pointed down her throat.
So that was it. Melody was now with Shady and Casey. Back to the lives of adventurers. Though, Melody hated it. She hated not being home. She hated not having lots of food. And She hated wearing high heels. This was it. They’re on the run again. Running from Eggman. Trying to get Harris back. And whatever else they could think of doing while traveling once more. This was one adventure they won’t surely forget.
Chapter 2: A Dirty Fight! Sonic Vs. Shadow
From what I can see here, Shady and I have to rescue Melody’s uncle. But where do we start? We don’t know much about Eggman, only that he’s an evil scientist that wants to take complete control of Mobius, with Shadow, who seems to have a strange connection to Shady, as an assistant of some sort. They’ve been trying to capture us a lot a year ago, when Shady’s Dark form struck out, they show themselves now? Why is that? They must have been planning something… In fact… I don’t even know how I got involved in all this… Maybe we should have refused the invitation, then none of this crud would have happened… All I knew… It was going to be a long trip…
MELANCHOLY
“This is terrible…” Melody groaned, “I could at least change shoes! Traveling in high heels isn’t fun…” Casey sighed, “Look, Mel, we need to get back to Knothole, THEN you can change your shoes or whatever… We need supplies if we’re going to find your uncle… AND beat Dr. Eggman…”
Casey scowled, if there was one thing she can’t stand, it’s whining, and complaining. Shady didn’t say anything; he looked more weary than usual, and his eyes had a somewhat sad look in them. It wasn’t like him for his crystal eyes to look so paled out. From here, everyone was miserable, especially Melody; not used to outside traveling.
“Could we please get something to eat…?” Melody groaned again. Casey couldn’t stand it any longer, “Shut up, will you?! We all have it bad as it is!” “I only asked for some food!” She roared back. Shady collapsed.
“Ah! Your whining killed him!” Casey pointed. Melody gave her a dry look. Shady snored lightly. Melody laughed, “Oh god… he’s only sleeping… What’s up with him? He’s so weird…” Casey groaned.
Eggman’s Head Quarters
12:37 PM
“So… review again how we get to ARK… It’s on Earth after all, and we’re on Mobius.” Shadow had his usual scowl. “Well… I was thinking… Chaos Control. All seven emeralds are what we need… And we only have one, which is your green one.” Eggman replied to Shadow, still pacing across the floor. “But I need them with as little effort possible!” Eggman slammed his fist onto one of his many control panels. “What if… I created a diversion… The freedom fighters would be morely focused on the destruction I cause. Meanwhile, you send out your robots to sniff out the emeralds.”
Eggman gawked. How does Shadow do it? He came up with such a devious scheme with such ease. It usually takes himself hours to come up with a plan. Even if it wasn’t a very good one. Quite lucky to have such a sidekick.
“Why Shadow, that’s perfect! We’ll carry out this plan by dawn…”
Knothole
7:02 AM
The dawn was cold, and everything was foggy. Apparently, most of them was still asleep. Melody was tired, Casey was feeling a bit dazed, and Shady was wide-awake, alert to everything around him. They got to their house, or Casey and Shady’s house at least. It was more likely a small cozy rest lodge rather than a home, but it was all they could afford. Melody was surprised at how small their house was, but living in a castle all you can remember would make everything look small.
Melody sat on the bed, kicking up her feet like a small child, staring at the carpet. Casey fumbled through their cabinets, and stuffed all their food and water, few tools and anything else they could use into a rucksack she found under the bed. Shady only glanced out the window. Knothole was quiet. Much, much too quiet…
“So… this is where you spent most of your days at?” Melody tried starting a conversation. Casey replied without making eye contact, rapidly stuffing things into her bag, “Yeah, not much to a princess like you, huh?” Melody forced out a laugh, ”Umm… yeah… ha ha…” “Alright! Done! Let’s get out of here!” Casey threw the bag over her shoulder, and flung out the door, Shady trailed after her. “Wait for me!” Melody shouted trying to catch up.
This was it. They’re out again. Out on an adventure, nobody to stop them now.
“So what do you want me to do…?” A much older feminine voice echoed. “Miki… I taught you everything you know about telekinesis and how to control it, be one with it, to flow your emotions through it. Now you must repay me…” A dark voice murmured under his breath. “And what might that be?” Miki replied. “KILL this little girl… Your sister, Herumi, or Casey she renamed herself is the key to the ruin of my plans… Destroy her with everything I taught you.” Miki grinned, “With pleasure, Santos… With PLEASURE…”
Knothole Village
2:28 PM
“Alright Shadow, you remember the plan?” “Roger.” Shadow replied into the communicator. “Give Knothole everything you’ve got!”
Shadow looked at the scenery. Everything looked peaceful, and in order. Shadow grinned. He was going to change all that. He leapt high into the air, and shouted, “CHAOS SPEAR!” He swung out his green chaos emerald, and spears of bright yellow flashed out, and shot down bellow. Screaming was heard, as some of the civilians started to run in terror. Others just looked up to the roof of a house.
“Oh my god! It’s Shadow!” One of them screamed. “He’s going to kill us all!” A woman shouted. They started running away. Like little pests trying to escape poison clouds. This only amused Shadow, a dark grin started to spread across his face.
“Hey Shad! What’cha do’ in?” A voice sounded behind him. Shadow flung around. “Faker… and that bratty fox sidekick…” “My, aren’t you happy?” Sonic teased. “Sonic… he doesn’t look like he’s in a good mood right now…” Tails warned. “Don’t worry, he’s only doing Eggman’s bidding. When are you gunna give up? Eggman isn’t going to give anything to ya.” Shadow glared at his blue rival, “He’s the Grandson of my creator… I must follow his orders, what so ever.” “Whatever you say, Mr. Sunshine! Let’s do this!”
The two rival hedgehogs engaged in a speedy battle. Bouncing off walls, and trying to slash, Kick, punch, whatever they could do to attack each other. Tails only watched, and cheered Sonic on. Then he thought, “Maybe I can help!” Tails rushed back to his workshop, using his two tails to fly back as fast as he could.
“Hah! Looks like your little friend abandoned you, faker!” Shadow shouted. Sonic flipped back, “I wouldn’t worry about him too much…” Sonic grinned. He pulled out a gold ring, clutching it tight in his fist. The energy began to surge. Sonic reverted into ball form, using his famous spin dash. Sonic slammed into Shadow, knocking the black hedgehog backwards into the ground. “A little rusty from our last fight?” Sonic chuckled. Shadow grinned darkly, “I’m just warming up…”
He revealed his green chaos emerald. Sonic was somewhat surprised that he still had it, but nothing less, Shadow always had something up his sleeve. He leapt into the air once more, and shouted, “CHAOS SPEAR!” The lights once again shot down, he aimed at Sonic, but the hedgehog was far to quick. He dodged with ease’. “CHAOS SPEAR!” Shadow shouted once again. “Better work on your aim buddy!” Shadow missed again. He was getting frustrated. “Die already! CHAOS SPEAR!” Shadow tried to strike faster. He barely missed Sonic. “That the best you can do, faker?” Sonic stuck out his tongue and pulled down his eyelid. “I hate you so much…” “I got your back!”
The Tornado suddenly swooped from the skies, battle ready missiles, lasers, and a gun. Who none other than Tails to pilot it?
“Way to go little buddy!” Sonic cheered. Shadow growled, “Go away, this fight is between Sonic and I! CHAOS SPEAR!”
A direct hit. Tails’ plane smoked, and small flames could be seen. “Ahh! I just got it remodeled!” The plane crashed into the ground, Tails was ok. Apparently his plane wasn’t. “How am I going to fix this…?” Tails climbed out the hull cover. “Your going to wish you never did that,” Sonic charged at Shadow, once again engaging into a quick attack battle once again.
“Shadow! That’s it for today! Report back to my Base!” Eggman’s voice rang from the communicator. Shadow stopped moving, Sonic followed shortly. “Right.” Shadow put it away, “Looks like we’re out of time. See ya later faker! CHAOS CONTROL!” His emerald glowed bright, and Shadow disappeared in a flash.
Sonic turned to Tails, who was pondering around with his plane. “We’ll see him again soon. Tails, fix up that plane as fast as you can! Eggman’s up to no good again.” “Right Sonic!” Tails cheered, and went back to his tinkering.
Emerald City Outskirts
6:21 PM
“Casey… where are we going now…?” Shady looked at her, frowning. “I don’t really know. Until we can figure out something… Or until we get a hold of Dr. Eggman.” “Uhh… right…” He replied meekly.
Ever since they left the castle, Shady looked so pale and bleak. What happened to his positive spirit? It was like the fiery soul inside him died out. Casey was starting to feel melancholy too. She wanted to know why Shady wasn’t himself. She wanted to know more about Shady. She’d stuck with him for almost two years now, and doesn’t know a thing about his past. He never told her anyway. Shady… was still a mystery to her, and everyone else.
Suddenly a boulder, surrounded in pink light, flew right passed us. It just barely touched Melody, she squeaked. All three of them looked up, to see, a feminine fox floating in mid-air. Short cut hair, strange looking rings that glowed magenta. Her clothes were odd too.
“Hey! Sis’ how are you?” Her voice was deep, but teasing. “You cheating sneak…” Casey scowled at her. Shady tilted his head; Melody held her hands to her chest, her knees caved in. “Oh, so rude of me… I’m Miki Kitsune… Herumi’s lovely older sister.” “Herumi…?” Melody stared at Casey. “It’s her real name… Casey was just something she’d rather go by.” Shady replied. “Time for a little family reunion! Capture Field!”
Miki’s hands suddenly glowed bright pink, a strange shield suddenly encased Shady and Melody inside it! Melody squeaked, and huddled near Shady, he blushed. Miki giggled, “Cute couple, wouldn’t you say?” “What?!” Melody shrieked. She tried to space herself away from Shady, but the field was far too small. “Aah… I’m sorry!” Shady tried to step back. “Ugh… This just keeps getting better… Eat this!” Casey tried to punch Miki as she charged into her. But Miki’s senses were strong, she encased herself in a bubble, And Casey ended up slamming her fist into what felt like solid rock.
“Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ah!” Casey jumped back, shaking her wrist. Miki cackled, “Face it little sister! Your nothing compared to me!” “Not a chance!”
Casey tried something different. She decided to use her own ability to fly and get Miki herself. Her tail ends spun like separate two copters, Casey was in mid-air. Miki only laughed again, amused. Casey was annoyed, she scowled at her.
“Just because you have a jacked up tail, doesn’t make you the only flier in this world!” Miki’s hands rose in the air, the pink glow started to surround her own body, and Miki herself was up with her sister. “No way…” Casey’s gawked, “How are you doing this?!” Miki grinned devilishly, “How? How you ask…? Because I’m better than you!”
Suddenly. When Miki pushed her hands forward, Casey felt like a truck hit her! And Miki didn’t even lay a finger on her! She shot back to the ground, creating a small crater around her. Shady gawked, Melody covered her eyes. Casey groaned, she managed to get herself to sit up. “I hate you so much…”
“Case’! Are you alright?!” Shady yelled, “Urgh… I gotta get out of this thing!” Shady’s hands went dark blue, “Dark Claw, go!” He started to hack at the shield as hard as he could. Melody stood back, she held her hands closely to her chest, shuddering. “Don’t bother trying, squirt. My capture field stays as long as I please it!” “**** it!” He swore. Clearly he was getting frustrated. “Hang on Shady, I’ll get you out soon!” Casey stood up, growling at Miki.
“I’m going to bring you down!” Casey SLAMMED Miki’s stomach with all her might. She toppled back, and With Miki’s focous gone, the capture field around Shady and Melody dissipated. “Yes!” Shady shouted. Melody opened an eye. “Is it over…?” Casey triumphantly stood above her sister, grinning. “Who’s better now, punk? Ready to give in?”
Miki scowled at her. “GIVE UP?! No way… I’ll never give in to a little twerp like you!” “Just tell me what’s going on?!” Casey screeched. “NEVER!” Miki’s left hand glowed and she shoved it forth, Casey toppled back. “Aah!” Miki stood up and dusted herself off, “I’m going off to train now… I’ll come back stronger than ever! You’ll pay for this Herumi Kitsune, I SWEAR YOU WILL!”
The magenta light surrounded Miki and she vanished. Shady walked to Casey, and patted her shoulder, “Nice work, Case’” He smiled. “Ehh… It was ok I guess… I could have done better…” Casey sighed. “You have one CRAZY sister…” Melody forced out a laugh. “For once I agree with you…” Casey replied dryly.
Eggman’s Head Quarters
11:34 PM
“This plan is working perfectly! I already have four Chaos Emeralds, and nobody is doing a thing to stop me!” Eggman cackled. “Remember Doctor, there are still three more left out there somewhere. It could be anywhere, and anyone could have them. We do know that Sonic has one, as well as my clone.” Shadow warned. “Hmm… your right…” He lightly tugged on his long mustache’, “No matter, things seemed to be working quiet well… But before we collect the rest… why don’t you pay him a little visit first?”
Somewhere deep in Aikoto Forest
4:04 AM
Miki was defeated, By her younger sister? That couldn’t be. Just the thought of Casey alone infuriated her mind. But defeat? No. She wouldn’t let that happen. That was something she’d never allow.
“That stupid little brat… She’ll pay for mocking me like this… Wait… wasn’t this the burned down rut she used to live in?”
She looked around, almost every house was burned completely pitch black, and the burnt smell still lingered. This disgusted Miki, but she knew something valuable would be here. She spotted that very house. ‘…eous Sweets of Ze…’ Most of the sign was already burnt off. Miki knew this house like the back of her hand. She busted down the weak nearly collapsed door. Not much of the inside was burned down, but it was hard to find something without burns.
“Huh… this used to be our old house…” Miki chuckled, “I’m sure to find something to break down my empty-headed sister… Wait… what’s this…?”
Miki bent down and picked up an old leather covered book. She began to take interest in it. Miki flipped through the pages, looking at old photo’s of their family. The odd thing was she couldn’t find pictures of their father. Then she came to the photo. The picture had their mother in it, with her holding Herumi as a new born. Miki turned red hot with furry.
“It’s because of HER that mom has that disease… Right after Herumi’s birth, mum became ill… child of the ****ed…” Miki nearly tore the book in half. “But… I know she’ll want this book really bad…” Her grip lightened. “Yes… I can bait her…” Miki laughed to herself. Trotting out of the broken down house like she just won a thousand dollar ticket to Heaven.
To be Coutinued.
Chapter 4: Things get worse
Things just seemed to get more and more grim for casey and Shady. Just as summer was starting to arrive too. Darkness is slowly growing more and more stronger in Shady's heart, the more and more his emotions are afflicted. He will soon be completely swallowed in hatred, and nobody can stop him from his rain. They'll have to find a cure. Fast.
The more days go by, the more frail Shady looks. Melody takes no note of this, but I'm constantly wathing. What's going on? I've never seen Shady anything like this. May it have something to do with Melody? I'm not sure, but I have a feeling I will find out soon, soon enough... Wether I like it or not.
Shady was gloomy as ever, Melody would only... Sorta stick near him, for comfort, it seemed. Me? I only watched them shuffle near each other. The look disgusted me. I took note that the sky was starting to dim. Before I knew it, we were under a huge shadow.
"Greetings! My, my, Shady, you look sickly."A voice boomed below. "Not now..."I yelped.
"I've already collected 5 of the emeralds! With yours added, I'll only need one more!" Then he laughed.
Then a beam of green light shoot down from the fleet ship, heading straight for Shady. Then Melody did something unexpected. Something I thought she never would do in my life. She pushed Shady aside and the light starting carrying her out of view.
"Melody!"Shady seemed to have snapped into reality. "Better me than you right? I won't let Eggman use you Shady!"
I was speechless. When I looked at Shady, I saw... fear. Despair. The look of a frightened child. Believe me, I was feeling the same thing. Wasn't it our job to protect her in the first place?!
"What are you doing?! You idiot!" I hollered after her. She probably didn't hear me, waste of breath.
The ship started to fly away. Far far away. Now we're really in trouble...
---
The room Melody was transported into, was a dark, moist cell. She hated the look of everything near her, and wondered if she just should have left Shady to get beamed here instead of herself. Then felt deeply guilty of the thought.
Soon she realized the was a vent. Rusted bolts too. Perfect escape hatch! Melody would bash into it several times, until she fell into it, squealing. Without antoher thought, she crawled right into the vent, searching for a way out like a mouse in a maze. Soon, she heard voices. VERY familiar voices.
"This was much too easy. With Shady captured, we have 6 emeralds total! All we need is one more from that blasted blue hedgehog!" "We'll need to lure him in first," Shadow suggested, "Perhaps we capture one of his friends once more?" Eggman shook his head, "No, I've done that far too many times before. He'll obviously know it's a trap."
Eggman angrily paced across the floor, until he got an idea, then snapped his fingers.
"I've got it! We'll host a tournament!" "A... tournament?" Shadow tilted his head. "Yes, Sonic can't stand going on without a challenge. We'll fool them with a prize as a Chaos Emerald. Sonic won't be able to resist it."
"A tournament huh? If they're after the emeralds too, then..." Melody reached into the pocket in her dress, pulling out the Red emerald. "They must be after this... I have to get out of here..."
Melody started to crawl on foreword. The vents started to creek, and before she knew it, Melody fell tumbling down in front of them. She landed with a crash, the the rusted vent creaked, as if it was laughing at her clumsiness.
"You? how did you get here?!" Shadow pointed. "Argh... and things were going so well... oh well, at least she has this!" Eggman picked up the emerald Melody had fallen with. "Oh no! Ahh... give that back!" She squeaked. "What makes you think I would, huh?!" Eggman roared back.
Melody started to run, she was just about to reach for the door, then she slipped and fell on her face. Shadow walked over to Melody and picked her up by her arm, glaring straight into her eyes.
"Your not going anywhere." he said grimly. Melody gulped.
---
"Hey Sonic! look at this." Tails held a flyer to his friend. Sonic took it out his hand, and read it himself.
"Whoa, this is long, I'm not finishing this." Just as Sonic was about to toss away the paper away Tails pointed out, "Wait! Look! It's says a Chaos Emerald is a prize!" "Oh, really? Well, I guess that means we have no choice but to join!"
Sonic hopped up to his feet, scrambled the flyer and threw it behind him. "This looks like a trap Sonic, I don't trust it..." "Hey, the prize is a Chaos Emerald, and I'm pretty sure we need that. Common!"
Without another word, Sonic blasted off at hyper speed, and Tails flowed as fast as he could.
---
"Here it is. This place is huge!" I looked around and saw no one else there. I assumed that, since the tournament was in the middle of the desert, no one but this guy would live here. Shady and I walked in and felt the air conditioning running against our heads.
The room was completly empty. All the doors were locked except the front door. I did see four papers on a table. Each one had information that you had to input. One had a name under it. "Who is Sonic the Hedgehog? Oh well, I'll just sign us up." I wrote Shady and my own name in and took a seat. We sat. And sat. And sat. "This is boring." Shady finally broke the silence.
Just then, saw a key on the table. It had never been there; it just appeared. Shady took the key and inserted it into a door. It was a fully stocked lounge with comfortable rooms and everything. "Oh yeah, I can handle this."
CHAPTER 5: The Tournament (Part One)
"Ha ha ha ha ha!", said Eggman "I've already got three suckers, looks like I got these in the bag." He then proceded over to his computer to watch, and wait to see who else is going to be dumb enough to come to my Tournament. Just then a dark figure showed up, and he waited to see who this person was.
---
"Hmm... Nice place... Not my taste though..." Miki casually walked in. She looked around, just as I walked out one of the rooms...
"You! What are you doing here?!" Miki's hands flared up with Magenta Energy, I hopped up onto one of the couches. "Funny! I want to say the same thing!" "Hey Save it! We're all going to fight each other eventually!" Sonic called out.
I put down her fists and hopped off the couch. Miki's hands settled down, both reluctantly answering, "Fine..."
Everything is just impossible with Miki around. She thinks the whole world should respect her like a god, and that attitude just makes me boil. One I'll show her. She'll wish she never met Casey...
"So anyway Casey, where's your little boyfriend?" Miki hissed at me with a daring glare. "He's not my boyfriend!" I roared back at her, "He went to spend sometime alone, I'm not sure where but..." "Whatever..." She cut me off while brushing out her hair. I wanted to strangle that witch!
---
SHADY'S POV
The desert is really cool at night. The sky was filled with stars, occasionally some bright lights would fill it, then dissapear. What was this feeling that made me feel so empty inside? A piece of me is missing, it's a terrible ache. Still, I shouldn't worry too much. After all, melancholy doesn't last forever.
"I should start heading back..." I told myself.
When I got back to the lounge area, I saw two who I thought I would never see again. 1. Casey's Sister, and 2. Sonic
"Since when did you guys get here? and Where's Casey?" "Well, we're obviously here for the emerald." Miki crossed her arms. "That fox girl with the jacket? She went to check out the Tournament battle arena." Sonic replied while lazily slumping in one of the couches. I nodded and went to the door which he directed me through.
And he was right. There was Casey, looking unusually calm. I walked over to her and shook her should to get her attention. She spun over, her violet eyes wide. I must have scared her by accident.
"Sorry," I said, "So... whats on your mind?" Casey sighed. "I don't know. I have a strange feeling that something really bad is going to happen... Never mind that, Ha ha! I'm being over dramatic again, I'm going to hit the sack, later Shades!"
Then she returned to the lounge area. I suspose I need my rest too, for the tournament. But since there was so little people... I didn't think it would matter much, but preporations do need to be made. I shrugged and followed Casey back.
---
CASEY'S POV
It really did surprise me that more people came over night, but I really could care less. I was put up against a guy called Leray, he didn't look like much of a challenge. I'm sure I can take him down without breaking a sweat.
"Bring it on!" My grin stretched across my face. "I won't go easy because your a girl." he replied with a serrious look.
I charged in as fast as I could, my tail spinning like crazy. He vanished, right before I even came in contact with his torso. I pushed my feet fore ward, to halt. "Where'd he go?!"I franticly looked left and right. "Above you!" He yelled. Before I could do anything he slammed me into the ground. "Gaah!! Get off!"I screeched. I flipped myself over, pinning my foe to the ground.
"Impressive... Not nessisarly good enough." He kicked me off, and I was sent slamming into the wall. "Aah!"
"I won't allow you to win so easily." He laughed. I wasn't planning to get up too soon, but that all changed when I flipped up and started spinning around to block a fierce kick that was thrown my way, barely registering that it came from the white hedgehog. Just as he let his guard down after the kick, I deliberately thrusted my fist into his torso, and he flew skidding across ground. He struggled to stand on his two feet, but managed to balance himself.
We were locked in a stand-off, each unwilling to move and give the other an opening to attack. Leray grinned at me. "You're a lot tougher than you look." "Touche'..."I replied under my breath. "I did my best, I have no regrets." "Huh?"
Without another word, he fell face fore ward to the ground. My eyes shot wide open, I didn't expect him to go down at that moment.
"3...2...1... Leray is unable to continue, the victor is Casey!" The Refree called out. "Wow... I won...? Yeah! I did it! Shady! Did you see that?!" He nodded, "In some ways, she's still a kid..."
Chapter 5: The Tournament (Part 2)
*~*~*~*~*~*
♦MELANCHOLY♦
*~*~*~*~*~*
SHADY'S POV
"That was so cool! I didn't think I'd stand a chance against that guy!"
She sounded so happy, so truimphant. Of course I was happy for her, but that ment my match came next. I'm not so sure that I'm quite prepared yet. Then again... I was bound to fight soon enough anyway. My opponent was called Icicle, right? Sounds like a frosty person, huh?
I made my way to the arena, apparently my foe was a girl? A white tiger with strips blue as ice. Thus the name made sense...? She was holding some sort of bazooka. It wasn't exactly fair, I didn't have a weapon of my own.
She tilted her head, eyes locked into mine,"You're certainly odd looking, streaks on a hedgehog? Your quills look peculiar too..."
"I get it all the time."
"Shady Vs. Icicle Will commence! All ready? Set... FIGHT!" The referee called.
She began trying to hit me with a bazooka that freezes on contact. Her aim wasn't quite good as I thought. "Hold still, you!" She hollered at me. The bazooka created sharp icicles on the ground, wall, whatever it hit. She was creating obstacles for me, clever.
I leaped straight into the air, about to try and hit her with my dark claw. My hands flared up Dark blue, but just as I was about to hit, she shot me! My right arm frozen solid, I couldn't hold it up, so I was sent tumbling to the ground. "Hah! Gotcha!" She pointed, "Now to finish you off!" She continued firing at me, I thought I could use my frozen arm as a shield so I held it up like a shield. It only made my arm more heavy to hold up. The ice was building up on my arm, it felt like a ton, I couldn't hold it up any more. It went to the ground like a boom. "Are you going to give up now?" She grinned.
I thought I was done for, suddenly... This... strange aura started to gather around me... I was starting to feel much, more stronger... I lifted up my arm with ease'! The girls' eyes shot wide open, "No way..." "Yes way!" I yelled triumphantly. I ran towards her, and smacked away her bazooka, the ice around my arm shattered. "Aww, I was so close..." She groaned. My hands lit up dark blue instantly, and with one swing I sent her flying back with one swipe of my claws.
I glanced at where she laid, and she was sparking? "Electricity? Weird... There are robots in this competition?" "Icicle is unable to continue! Shady is the victor!" The referee hollered. "Way to go Shades!"I heard Casey cheer from the crowd.
---
"Well well! I honestly didn't think you fellas wouldn't last this long!" Sonic said with a teasing tone. "It's all about awesomeness!" Casey Laughed. "Don't get too confident Casey. You know I'll end up beating you one way or another." Miki scoffed. "Say that again, witch..." Casey scowled at her. "Why you little brat!"
"Does this happen often?" Sonic whispered in my ear, "Everyday..."I groaned.
The arguing went on for nearly twenty minuets. I thought they'd be out of insults in less than five, but boy, these two sure are strong-headed...
---
CASEY'S POV
My next fight... Is with Miki? Finally I get to show that **** witch who's in charge! I'm ready for her, I'll give her everything I've been holding my whole life...
"Casey Vs. Miki! Are we all ready? Set? ...FIGHT!"'
Miki started off by picking me up and slamming me into the ground over and over again. Sounded like she was getting a thrill out of it too... "Take this you little brat!" Then tossed aside into a wall. "Argh... You'll pay for that..." I ran up to her, and slammed my tail into her as hard as I could. She went skidding across the ground.
"You'll be sorry!"
She raises her hands, immediatly the ground beneth Casey begins to rise into the air... "What the hell are you doing?!" "I'm going to show you what pain I really can inflict on you scum!"
Naturally I started spinning my tail and start flying, I charged into her, but she created some sort of invisible wall, and I fell back onto one of the floating bolders. "Prepare to meet your maker!"
The boulders started slamming into the ground, and rising into the air, over and over again. I was clinging on as tight as I could. "I'll shake that stupid look of your face! You get it?! It's time to surrender or die!"
It's ok XD
CHAPTER 6: THE TOURNAMENT (PART THREE)
I managed to kneel on the ravaged boulder, which was rather hard to balance on. My tail’s separate ends began to spin like twin copters, allowing me to somewhat levitate in the air. Miki realized this immediately, in a attempt to stop my aerial assault, she flung all the boulders to the ceiling to frighten me.
“Hah!” I called triumphantly, “now you have no cover!” Miki bared her teeth.
I shot foreword at a breakneck speed, and started to pound her, actually being able slam some harsh blows to her chest and face. The problem was she could counter attack the second after my blow. My patience was decreasing, I slammed my whole body into her. The recoil threw me back a few feet, but I was ready charge in again.
“Enough!” She cried!
All at once, a huge arc of magenta erupted from Miki, it flung me back onto the ground. That gave her enough time to recover from my blows before I could get up to my feet.
“Ha ha ha ha ha!” She cackled, “When will you realize I’m much better than you?” “Shut up!”
Without a thought, I twisted around, my tail flashed, sending a sonic wave directly to Miki. She froze for a second, the attack was unexpected. The impact, threw off her concentration on her levitating, Miki fell skidding across the ground. She wasn’t moving. I grinned, walking directly up to her.
“So, are you ready to give up, admit I’m better than you?” “GIVE UP?!” She sat up pounding her fists into the ground as a child, To the likes of YOU?!”
She pushed me back to the ground. She pointed her index finger into my face.
“Look Casey, just because I’m out the Tournament doesn’t mean I’m done for. Next time I’ll get you good!” Before I could say anything else, she stormed out the arena.
“Miki For fits the match! The victory goes to Casey!”
___
Sonic’s match was coming next. I’m not sure why they didn’t organize his fights earlier, but nothing the less, we’ll get to see why he claims to be so strong. The main problem was he was fighting Shady. So, I’m not sure who I really want to win…
NORMAL POV
“Common Sonic! We really need that emerald!” Tails called out. “Don’t worry, I have this match all wrapped up.” He gave him a thumbs up.
Sonic dashed at Shady lightning fast, setting a blow to his stomach. With recoil that strong, Sonic would have been blown right back, he quickly counters the effect by doing a short flip, regaining balance with ease’.
“Not too fast huh?” He chuckles. "I see..." Shady stood up, rubbing the dirt off his face, "Your name suites you well..." "They don't call me Sonic for nothing."
Shady accended to the air, then rocketed downward, hands immersed in dark blue flame, with his fingers spread out. Sonic repeatedly dodged Shady's attempts to slash him, and blocked if he wasn't quick enough to move.
"I'm going to win that emerald!" Shady announced. "Not likely!" Sonic grinnned.
Again, with lithe speed, Sonic knocked Shady away with a quick kick. Shady flipped backward to prevent further recoil damage. Sonic flipped into ball form, using his famous homing attack. Shady quickly tried to block by clawing at him. Sonic kept pushing him back. Shady's feet was starting to uproot the dirt. He knew he couldn't hold him up any longer. Shady ducked, then kicked Sonic into the wall.
"Yeah!" Shady grinned," I got him!"
The dust settled. Shady gasped. Sonic didn't have a scratch on him.
"Your going to have to do better than that, buddy." A sly smile spread across his face.
Chapter 7: The Trap
Normal POV-
Casey folded her arms over her chest, and glared at Sonic, without realizing. "Ugh... This is going to take forever." Tails looked meekly at her. Casey sighed and tried to relax.
Suddenly, the wallblasted open, temporarily blinding everyone. The dust settled, revealing Docter Eggman, with Melody hanging from a claw attatched from the eggmobile.
"Melody?" Casey stood up from her seat. "You know her?" Tails turned to Casey. "Yeah. So what?"
"The tournament is now officialy canceled. Thanks to this little brat, that I have these!" Eggman truimphantly held up all seven glemming chaos emeralds. "he's been collecting them under our noses!" Sonic bared his teeth, "Common Tails, we can't let him get away with this!" "Try and catch me!" Eggman laughed, and the eggmobile took off. With Melody. Sonic and Tails rushed after them.
"Shady!! Casey!!" Her Voice echoed from the distance.
Casey lepted down from the staduim seats down to the areana ring where Shady stood. She rapidly shook his shoulder to check if he was dazed, then said, "Hurry up! We gotta follow them!" Shady shook his head, his face fixed to a confident grim look of determination, "Right... Lets move!"
The two rushed out the exit. Outside the dessert sands. They kept running forward, and a few trees started to pop up in the distance. An oasis? No... These trees were pines... Forest trees... Perhaps the desert was artificial? Soon, it really did turn into a forest. Aikoto Forest. Was this all a trick?
"Wait!" Shady called. "I see somthing..." Casey glanced, "She saw it too. "Shadow..." The fox scowled, "What does he want...?"
Shadow raised his arm, clearly an emerald clutched into it. He said something, but Shady and I we're at a distance too far to hear. In a fleeting instant, a green flash temporarily blinded us both, when regained our vision, I realised he had used chaos control.
"Casey, keep your guard up..." Shady bit his lip.
Talk about irony. Something slammed into my back, I yelped as I fell forward into the grass.
"Get... off... me..." I mumbled. "Chaos Spear!" Shadow's voice echoed. The weight on my back lifted, I flipped to my feet as soon as I could.
Dark blue mist rose off Shady's fur, giving him a rather frightening appearance. Drifting around him, crackling flames, just like a ghost. Both lunged at eachother at lightning speed. Shady clawed at Shadow, as quickly as he could. Shadow grabbed his wrist, and flipped him. He landed with a thud.
Without thinking, I dashed foreward, slamming my fist as hard as I could at shadow. Shadow fell back, skidding on his feet. He glared at me, as I returned the look.
"Chaos spear!" He swung his arm forth again, the sharp spears off light, flew out of nothing. I was too late too dodge his attack. The cut my arm, it stung like a wasp attack. I looked at it and realised it was leaking blood, driping off my arm. I ignored it and tried stand. My thigh started to immit pain too. My pants was torn, and my thigh was burnt from the spears.
"Casey, are you alright?!" Shady called to me. "Yeah, just get rid of Shadow!" I replied. He nodded.
"Chaos Spear!" Shadow shouted again. Shady grinned, "Chaos deflect!"
He flung his arms infront of him, suddenly, a transparent dark blue wall flashed from his palms, and surrounded Shady. As soon as the yellow spears came in contact with the field, they vanished into the air. It was as if Shady had actually absorbed them. Shadow glared at him. "chaos control!"
He vanished again. Shady bawled his hands into fists. His spine shivered. Obviously he felt that something bad was about to happen. Just before he could do anything, he heard those two words that completly froze his core.
"CHAOS SPEAR!"
Shady was launched forward after hit by one of Shadow's sprears. His back was singed and sore, as smoke rose off it. Shady fel with his arm twisted under him. His elbow jarred into the ground and heard the crack of bone. His skidding stopped. At first, he felt nothing but fear, shuddering helplessly. Then came the wave of pain. His face cringed. He tried to move, but couldn't. The pain intensified.
It was as if flames licked at the torn flesh. The dirt slowly immersed into a wet crimson red. Stunned, his eyes shut lightly, and his head fell. Unconcious.
I panicked. "Shady! Agh..." My arm was still bleeding.
NORMAL POV
Shadow took out his communicator, "Doctor... I have Shady immobilzed. What should I do about the fox kid?" "Use your gun and take them both if you can. I'll be waiting at the base." The communicator's signal was lost, and nothing but a sizzling sound was heard. Shadow turned to Casey, and an evil smirk spr4ead wide across his face.
He took out what looked like a gun, and inserted something into it. He pointed it at Shady. Casey's heart stopped. He was going to shoot.
TBC...
Chapter 8: Seperated! Desprate recovery
Casey's stomach dropped. She couldn't beleive he was going to shoot him. She knew she had to do something. Shadow's finger slowly pulled the trigger. Something inside her, roared, a feeling of denial. She shot up, and dashed as fast as she could, despite the stinging in her arm. Shadow turned. Casey pulled her fist back, slamming it hard into his stomach.
Shadow was sent flying, he crashed into a tree. Gasping for air, Casey guessed she really must have hit him hard. She felt amazingly proud of herself. The amount of blood from her arm started to flow more massivly. Her smile faded, knees buckled and eyes closed shut. Falling forward into the darkness...
----
SHADY's POV
I could feel the suns rays on my face. I opened my eyes, even though I didn't want to. I wished I could retreat back into sleep and rest my sore bones. I pulled the covers over my head, drowning my head into the pillows... Wait... covers? My eyes shot wide open and I sat up quickly.
My back was sore and numb, feeling terribly painful. I groaned and sat back into the bed. I looked into the mirror sitting on the mahogony dresser. There were bandages wrapped on my head and chest. My arm had a cast on it. My quils had folded back instead of it's usual upright possision. My eyes were bright green, and I wasn't black with blue streaks, instead, completly dark blue. My ears and quils had their bright blue tips though.
"Where am I...?" I asked outloud. The door clicked open.. A young rabbit girl, holding a glass of water stared into my eyes. Her ears were strangly long, and her dress was orange, also wearing a blue ribbon. She brightly smiled at me.
"Your awake! I was really worried mister."
Mister...? Shady thought.
"You were just lying in the dirt... I thought you were dead or something to be honest... But your ok, so..." The girl stated to studder. "Relax, It's ok. Did you see a girl... Umm... A fox with a blue jacket and red dress?"
The girl froze, looking back at what she might have seen when she found me. After a couple of seconds, she made a quick hasty reply. "No, it was just you."
D*mn... Shadow must have got her while I was out...
"Why? Is this girl a friend of yours?" Her eyes widened. "Err... It's nothing important. I have to go..."
I slid out the bed and began to walk to the door. The girl started to studder again. She stepped infront of me, looking rather unhappy.
"N-no! You can't go yet! You're still hurt, a-and..." "No really! I'm fine, see?" I quickly lied. It wasn't really my nature to fib. Or, alteast I thought I did. I attempted to bend my elbow with the cast on it. It moved.
The girl's eyes shot wide open, "But I thought... How did you do that?" "I don't know." I replied, trying to remain calm.
"Cream? Is everything alright in there?" A deeper voice came from outside the door. The door opened. A much older, but more graceful rabbit entered. Her dress was long, I assumed she was the younger rabbits mother.
"Oh? Your awake. So, are you feeling well?" "Sure.." I replied, ignoring the blistering pain in my back.
She layed her hand on my forehead, I flintched, startled. Her smile faded as she pulled her arm back.
"You have a fever... Here, lie back in bed." She pushed me back. The pressure of her hand on my back stung even worse. My face scrunched. "No really, I'm fine..."
"Here, just lay in the covers and rest. I'll call a docter. Cream, why don't you go outside and play, dear?"
Cream smiled, "Ok, I'll pick some flowers, while I'm out."
The two left the room, and the door clicked shut. I was alone, and pretty tired, so I just did what her mom told me and layed in the bed. It felt so pleasureable to rest my tired bones. So, I closed my eyes, and waited. I slid across to sleep...
-----------------
Normal POV
Casey unlike Shady, was in a much worse situation. It was raining, her clothes were wet and muddy from triping on a root and falling into a mud puddle. When she woke up to get help (unsuceeded) when she came back, Shady was gone. Now she wanders the swampy forest, alone, cold, and most of all hungery.
"Just my luck..." She growled to herself.
"WHY?! Of all the people on Mobius, Why me?!?!" Casey sreamed to the skies.
It was no use, No matter how loud her voice echoed, she was too farway for anyone to hear. Then she got an idea.
"Wait, maybe I can fly up to the canopy of these trees. Then I can spot a house or something!"
Her tail spun, she was lifted to the top of the trees. Nothing. It was raining too hard to see anything. The fog was thicker than vegitable stew. And it was raining much hard up there. So hard, it was like bees where stinging her with every drop of rain that hit her. She retreated to the ground bellow and sighed.
"This is hopeless... I'll never get out of here..." she slid to the ground and hugged her legs close to her chest, resting her chin on her knees.
"What are you doing in a place like this?"
Casey looked up. It was, another fox. He was boy, and wasn't as soaked as Casey was. The boy wasn't happy to see her either.
"Whadya want?" Casey growled. He made a rude sound, "I should ask the same thing. Are you lost or something."
"yeah..." She bluntly admitted. "Well! I can help with that." He grinned. "Whatever. Where's the exit?" Casey rolled her eyes. "Just head that way. Knothole isn't too far. And I'll escort you. There are some nasty bandits in these forests."
"Whatever moron." Casey walked ahead of him. "I have a name you know! It's Boomer!" "Casey!" She called back. Boomer groaned and raced after the reckless kitsune.
---------------------
Later, at dawn, Shady lay in bed wide awake. The sleep had done him well, the sprain in his elbow had ceased, yet his back still stung, and the headache remained. Bored out of his mind, he slid out of bed, and went downstairs. It was slielent. The Cream and her mother must have been asleep. Shady crept out the door.
It was dark still, and Shady was perferably active in the dark. He stood the door, facing the horizon. However, he wasn't aware that a little girl was watching him from the bushes. Until she moved, and made the leaves rustle. Startled, he swung around.
And there the girl was. A pink hedgehog with a hair band and bobbed cut. She was wearing red boots and dress to match, ofcourse with the white lining on her boots and dress made Shady think she looked like a candycane.
She lifted a finger, pointing at him, "You aren't Sonic, are you?" "No, I'm not." Shady replied. "I'm sorry I scared you. My name is Amy, Whats yours?" She smiled.
Quite talkitive, huh? Shady thought.
"Shady." "Shady..." She repeated, "That's a nice name." Amy replied.
"Maybe if your a ghost..." Shady offered thoughtfully.
The smile on Amy's face dropped. Shady felt his heart drop too.
"It's ok, I guess." He added.
The next few moments were silent. Then Shady sighed, and said something... strange.
"We're all under the sun, right, so what makes me diffrent from everybody else?" Amy lifted an eye, "Umm... I'm not sure. But if everyone was the same, life would be pretty boring, huh?"
Shady studied her response. He looked at the horizon, then back at Amy. Of course he beleived, once she got herself involved with him, she would wind up in as many problems Casey had. He didn't her to blame him for it.
Shady came to his conclusion, he sighed and looked at Amy straight in the eye, "Your a nice person Amy. I wish I could be friends with you. But I can't. Not with you, or anyone else."
Amy looked even more confused.
The sun crept over the rolling hills of the West Mobius outskirts. Slowly, Shady began to change in a terrifyingly odd manner. His dark blue fur changed back to a nightly pitched black. The quils sat upright. The streaks of blue appeared back on his head, quils, arms legs, and ears. And his canines, sharpened back to fangs.
"Huh... I'm back to normal..." He murmured. "Wh- What happend to you?!" Amy cried, flintching, "You look like Shadow..."
"This is why I can't."
Chapter 9: Realization! The scariest atributes!
"YES! Civilization!!" Casey cried.
Knothole was just the same as her last visit here. Friendly people, cool calm trees, and peaceful feel to it. Not that it matter to Casey, she just wanted out of the rain. Boomer, however looked quite pleased of himeself. Though Casey wasn't paying much attention to him.
"I beleive little girl, I derserve a thank you?" Boomer gave a sarcasting smile. Casey replied quickly, "Sure, whatever."
Casey began to wander ahead. Then began to sink into her thoughts. Where was Shady? Did Eggman get him? Is he alright? She knew he had a broken arm, a serious blow to his head, and a singed back. Casey hoped somebody responsible had found him... Until she was distracted by...
"Jeans and T-shirt! I really could use some new clothes! All my brother bought for me were dresses anyway..." Casey quickly ran in, and snatched off the clothes of thier hangers. "This is so cool matches my jacket too. Hey wait..."
One one of the shelves, folded neatly, a yellow scarf. So delicate, and soft to the touch. The ends had swirls on them. Casey smiled. Shady. He would like this. Casey grabbed it, setting them with her clothes under her arm.
She walked to to the register, grinning her biggest, for a really long time. "Hey dude, how much for all this stuff?" She threw evything on the counter, with her hands on her hips. The cat examined the prices on the tags, and said, "15.99." Casey searched her pockets. By the touch of her hands, she felt a gumrapper, her half eaten sandwhich in a plastic bag, and paper. She quickly yanked it out.
"I only have a ten..." She replied meekly. "It's alright, I can give you a child discount. 6 off." Casey's face brightened again. "Thanks dude!"
She ran into the changing room, and switched out her dress for the pink t and light blue jeans. Boomer, who was waiting outside, very impatiently waited for Casey to come out. "What's taking her so long?" He grumbled to himself. Just then, Casey came out, with a strikingly bright grin. Then her grin turned into a scowl, the very second she saw Boomer. "Oh great. Your still here."
"You bet. I can see your new outfit obsesion." "I am not." She protested, "I just wanted to get out of that stupid dress." Boomer rolled his eyes, "You are too. Your a girl, and that's a girl thing." "Sexist..." Casey murmured. "What...?" "Sexist! Sexist!" She cried sticking out her tounge. "Am not!" "Are too!"
Boomer sighed, "This ridiculous. Your weird." "So are you, for following me around. Which makes you a sexist stalker!" Casey laughed. "You know, I'm really starting to hate you Casey..." Boomer glared. "Whatever, pea-brain. See ya later!"
Casey then spun her tail, and began to float up into the air. Feeling much more confident of herself. "No fair! I can't fly!" Boomer shouted at her. "Duh! So you can't follow me!"
"I'm going to find Shady once and for all! Even If I'll have to use-"
Creams House
9:46 AM
"His blood? What do you mean by that?" Asked Amy. "I'm just getting to it." Dr. Quack reassured. "From the blood sample I've taken from Shady, was it?" Shady nodded.
"His DNA has been altered artificialy. Theres a few extra chromosomes, and I don't know why. Because of this, he has a few brain deffects too. Multiple Slerocosis, Dyslexia, and Autism. For a really strange reason, Chronic Pain is reversed for serious injury... Instead of long term pain, major injuries recovery nearly 10 times as fast. Minors will take more time for repair."
Shady was baffled. He didn't know this much about himself. Cream tilted her head. She couldn't understand what Dr. Quack was saying. Amy however, was completely facinated.
"In your blood... Is an extra component... It has the exact same signature as a Chaos emerald, and is very poisonous. For some reason your almost immune to it. I call it Chaos Venom... Or do you perfer a diffrent name?" "Wait, what do you mean by ALMOST?" Shady questioned. He wanted to know. "Well..." Dr. Quake started, "This may sound weird, but... Its... eating your conciousness, very slowly."
Shady swallowed. Now he didn't want to know. He didn't want to know this at all.
Chapter 10: Captured! Casey's Epic Rescue!
That evening, after Dinner, Cream watched her favorite TV show, Her mother was fixing dessert. Shady perfered not to eat so many sweets. Amy was no where in site. He knew he should find Casey, what if something happened to her?
Just as he crept outside, and slowly shut the door... The door opened again. Amy's head popped out. "Where are you going?" She giggled. Shady feeling quite uncomfortable at the fact Amy caught him a second time replied, "Err..." He knew he couldn't lie, "I'm... going to find my friend..." Amy stepped out the door, shutting it behind her. "Well, who's your friend?" He sighed, "This is no time for a conversation, I really have to go!"
Before he could run, Amy grabbed his wrist, Shady turned around with a dry look that said -You just don't get it, do you?- "Can I come too? It's been a while since somthing exciting happened. "Fine... Just don't get in my way." Amy smiled.
After a few hours of walking, They decided to take a break under the few trees on the rolling plains. The stars shined so bright, the moon was full, and sparkling to it's fullest. For some reason, the stars reminded Shady of Casey. They were just as sparkly as the stars sown on her jacket.
"Why so sad all the time?" Amy tilted her head. "I was thinking about somebody. A girl." Shady replied emptily. "Ooh. Is she your girlfriend?" Amy oozed, looking at him with her bright green eyes. Shady shook his head. "No. She's my best friend. Her name is Casey."
Amy stared at him expectantly, as if she wanted more about her.
"I... sort of got her captured by Eggman..." He said, nibbling on his fingers. Amys eyes widend, "Oh, that is bad. But Don't worry too much, Sonic can save her, just as he always does when I get tangled." She blushed at the name Sonic. Shady knew she must have had a crush on him or something.
"We lost him Sonic!" Tails cried. Sonic had his usual grin, "Don't worry little buddy, we'll find him eventually. Let's split up. I'll search on the ground while you look in the air, got it?" Tails nodded, "Ok! I'll let you know If I see him!"
Tails spun his tails, like a giant propeller, and took off in the skies. Sonic, countinued running. They'll find Eggy soon, he always does.
"Hey! Wake up! We gotta get moving!"
Amy sat up and yawned. She looked at the sky, the Sun was just making it's way above the horizon. "Isn't it a bit early...?" She rubbed her eye. "No... I mean have to move. Now."
The ground was starting to rumble. This nearly scared Amy into waking. She stood up. Suddenly, two giant robotic hands seperated the trees apart. And the eggmobile on it's shoulders.
"Ha ha ha" The laugh came from a megaphone, "I've finally caught up to you Shady!" "It's Eggman!" Amy cried, "You know how to fight him, right?" Shady tilted his head, "I did before, but he's in a giant robot suite now..." Amy growled, "Well, just try!" She pushed him ahead. Face to face with a huge mecha. Shady swallowed.
"Alright..." Shady said, trying to reassure himself, "I can do this... Here I go!"
He lept up high in the air. The robot flung it's arm to him, managing to land on it, his ghost flare appeared, circling around him. The other arm nearly smashed him, but he managed to jump up before that event. "Take this!"
He sent the flares to the robot, sindging the metalic armor. One of them almost hit Eggman. He ducked and shouted, "Watch where your throwing those things!" Before gravity could pull him to the ground, he manged to pull off his Dark claw, hacking and tearing at the robots armor. Revealing mechanic boxing and wire. He made it safely to the ground. "This is getting frustrating... Missile fire!"
Two cockpits opened at the robots shoulder. Immediatly, rockets flew out, targeting Shady. He dodged a couple, then grabbed an incoming missle, and THREW it at one of the robots arms. It exploded on impact. But the arm was still intact.
"I can't beleive I actually made it this far..." He whispered to himself. "Well, you won't make it any further!" Eggman laughed. The Arm swung, and the palm of the robots hand swatted Shady like a small fly. The hand rose up, gripping on the unconcious Hedgehog. "Oh no, Shady!" Amy cried. This was almost praticly the first time she'd seen somebody fail to save her. "Oh, no need to worry Miss Rose, you'll be joining him, see?!" The arm swung around and grabbed Amy, being crushed by the force of the fist along with Shady. She screamed, "Sonic, where are you?!"
Casey, who was still flying high in the air, still hadn't mange to find a trace of Shady earlier. When suddenly, agiant robot swooshed right past her. Sending her spinning like crazy. "What the?!" Then something from the ship called out, "Help!! Eggman caught us an-" "I obviously have no time for this... The heck with that!"
Casey spun her tails as fast as she could, rushing to the rescue. Clutched in the fist, was a pink hedgehog, and "Shady! How'd he get here?!" The girls eyes widened, "You know him, you're name is-" "Casey, look this really isn't the best time for a conversation...."
Casey managed to land on the deck, a sigh of relief escaped her mouth. "Ok... I'm going to crack this fist open. And if you fall, I'll try to catch you." The girl scowled at her, "Whadya mean TRY?" "Well, you try to save two people in the sky at a high speed!" Casey thundered back. "Oww... My headache got worse..." Shady grumbled. And he was right. The bandages on his head were red. "Shady! You're alright!" Casey cheered.
Suddenly, a laser started to beam at Casey. "Waah! That almost hit me! Looks like Egghead is trying to get rid of me..." Casey ran away on the deck, heading to disable all the weapons, she smacked her tail into each and every weapon cockpit she could find. Rockets and lasers nearly hit her. "Alright! This is the last one!" "Not quite, little fox!" A voice echoed from the megaphone, "This is just a little warm up!" The voice laughed. From a trap door in one of the hidden cockpits, a laser shot her, keeping Casey confined so she couldn't move. "D@mn!" She swore. "We are no entering the Base. Repeat, We are now entering the Base."
