Title: What made Tails want to build things?
Trixie Prower - October 19, 2008 06:28 AM (GMT)
I've always wondered how Tails just had this lure to building things, do you think after seeing the Tornado Tails just went all at it and developed his skills? or is it he's competitive with Eggman? or....?
Groshonee - October 19, 2008 07:54 AM (GMT)
Probably just his nature, I like to take things apart then rebuild them for kicks.
Scitt Emerald - October 19, 2008 04:08 PM (GMT)
I think it is to fight and compete with Eggman.

Like Grosh said, itīs probably his nature. =P

It has to be nature. Tails never built the original Tornado. The original was Sonic's plane already and Tails just wanted to make a better one, so I believe it's just in his nature.

I think it's his nature because I think he's been building even before he found the Tornado (which was Sonic's plane) and plus in Sonic X in one ep (don't remember which one) shows bullies breaking something Tails made before he met Sonic and stuff...

Everyone has something they're passionate about, and Tails' passion is machines. Technoligy is a fasinating thing, so It's not surprising that people take big likings to them. especially someone as young as Tails

I think Tails took up his love of mechanics because he was bullied a lot. Think about it; machines don't push you around or call you names or decide they don't like you. (Unless you're Eggman, that is! xD ) Plus, a lot of people find a certain kind of satisfaction in preforming manual tasks such as building stuff. I think Tails' mechanical genius started just as a way for the poor kit to cope with his miserible life when he was younger, and, since he got so good at it, he still loves it to this day and will keep getting better.

I don't really know, maybe its somethin' from eggman he got.....sega needs more ideas...but then agian...maybe he learned being a mechinic is fun during his childhood.....maybe....its just his nature.....

The sheer lack of bordom :l
Maz - October 22, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
If bordom was lacking, why would he want to do something?

The same reason I play guitar. It's productive, fun, and passes time. :)

You are thinking of the X Tornado, and don't forget he also built the incredibly massive Blue Typhoon.

Actually, littlefox was right and probably wasn't refering to the X-Tornado at all. In the episode of Sonic X where Tails and Chris stop the dam from being built in the middle of the African Sarangeti (sorry about the bad spelling), Tails has a flashback where he explains to Chris his life before meeting Sonic.
The flashback has Tails being bullied and getting one of his newest little gadgets destroyed by some other Mobians his age. (Proving that Tails already liked making little machines even before he met Sonic.) He walks around sad until he spots Sonic running around. Curious, Tails follows Sonic but loses track of him and instead stumbles upon Sonic's biplane, the Tornado. Tails begins inspecting it for fun and actually ends up tinkering with it a little and giving it a new paint job. (It was red with yellow lines, I believe, but Tails makes it blue with brighter yellow highlights.) Sonic comes back, and, although Tails expects the stranger to be furious, Sonic actually likes it and their friendship is born. Sonic realizes that Tails is a better mechanic and pilot than he'll ever be, so he gives the biplane to Tails.
As far as the X-Tornado goes, that isn't even created until after the first few episodes of Sonic X when one of Eggman's robots keeps eating satellites and the gang can't get into space with just the regular Tornado biplane. Even then, however, Tails has Chuck's help to put the X-Tornado together by presumably using most of the parts from the original Tornado biplane as well as a whole lot of new parts. The massive Blue Typhoon, however, was built by Tails alone in just the six month time difference between the ending of Season 2 and the start of Season 3. (I still can't fathom how the little guy did it all by himself and in such a short time, too!) :TailsHeadSpin:

LOL I just realized reading that. xD Boy am I stupid LOL. Well the plane in the flashback is Sonic's plane, the Tornado. The first Tornado. And I know all that information, I just skimmed the question to fast to realize what plane he was asking about lol.
Yeah, but Sonic's plane is the original Tornado.

No sweat Adam, everyone does that from time to time. :twink08:
Back on topic though, does anyone but me sometimes wonder about Tails' parents? I mean, when Tails was really little his dad might have shown him a lot of mechanics and stuff that got the baby kit fascinated with that hobby. Then, after Tails' parents died or went away or whatever, Tails still seemed to keep that urge to work on mechanics even though he couldn't really remember where he got it himself. (A father to son tradition, or something like that?)
