| Alright Chapter Seven. So now I'm still arguing over a title. I really need ideas at the moment, and right now I've decided that "The Chronicles of Morgan the Hedgehog" is going to be it's temporary name, okay? So continuing to chapter seven. I kinda didn't expect this chapter to be so sappy *apologizes to male readers who love fights* I guess I just wanted to show the side of Morgan that not many people probably know. Chapter Seven: All Effort Is Useless As Morgan began to run past the city limits of Station Square, she began to slow down her pace. She sped up her pace even though she couldn’t see Station Square anymore. After many hours, she finally decreased her running until it was only a light jog, she spotted a grassy cliff that hovered significantly over the ocean. She stopped jogging and stared at the cliff. “I must’ve been running towards the ocean,” she thought. She walked up the cliff, and stood on the edge as far as she could without losing her balance. She didn’t speak of anything. She just let her ears concentrate on the smooth crashing waves of the water once it hit the sandy beach. After a while, she slowly shook her head. “Well I guess I’m not needed at Station Square. That blue bummer has it covered. Besides, it’s just like South City. Everybody there thinks I’m Sonic; everybody here also thinks I’m Sonic.” Morgan looked up at the descending sun. “Maybe I should just go into hiding even though I don’t need to. Or maybe I could sail to some uncharted island!” Morgan scowled at herself. “What in the world am I thinking? I need to be patient.” She scowled again. “Yeah right. Around here, I’m always going to be Sonic no matter how many times I scream it to the humans. All effort I even try is useless. My corrections always fall on deaf ears.” Morgan looked down at the sandy beach. Her ears perked. She began to hear people speaking. She noticed a young couple holding hands and walking on the beach. She turned her head away and forced her eyes shut. She grunted in disgust. She began to hear another noise. She slowly opened her eyes and turned to where she heard the noise. A young human child was on the beach with his family. He was making a sand castle with a dainty green pail. The child laughed with joy as he presented his castle to his mother and father. The child’s parents praised the child, and embraced him. Morgan looked away and closed her eyes once again. Morgan wasn’t disgusted from the sight. She wasn’t feeling hatred either. Morgan the Hedgehog was melancholy. She had never felt this sorrowful in a long time. She envied the child for having a family that when he got older, he could run home to whenever he felt like the world was against him. Morgan kept her eyes shut. She continuously tried to remember at least one event from her childhood. She tried to picture herself as a little kid. She tried to picture what her mother and father looked like. Morgan opened her eyes. Her sapphire eyes sparkled wildly with depression. She couldn’t remember a thing. Morgan wanted to cry so badly, and yet something inside her held her back. Her eyes didn’t water, and she didn’t sniff as if she was going to cry. “I want a family!” she pleaded in her head. “**** it, why must my life be like this? If I had a family, I wouldn’t be stuck here feeling sorry for myself! In fact if I had a family, I wouldn’t even have met any of the people I’ve met here!” She started to grit her teeth, and scowl. “The only time I felt like I had a family was when I was around K-Mo! NOW BECAUSE OF THE HUMANS, HE’S DEAD!” she screamed in her head. A strong gust of wind blew right through Morgan. It creatively shifted through her quills and soft fur as if it were embracing her. Morgan’s sensitive ears picked up a faint cooing noise. She immediately recognized the sound. She didn’t believe it. “K-Mo?” she whispered faintly. The wind spun above her head. She heard the cooing again, followed by a playful roar. In a matter of seconds, the wind and noise was gone. “Could that have been K-Mo?” she asked herself. “If that was him, was he trying to tell me something?” Morgan’s ears perked once again. She heard breathing that wasn’t her. She felt a warm breath fly towards her neck. She turned her body from the waist up around. She gasped. “Sonic,” she said quietly. Sonic stood right behind her. He had an emotionless look on his face. He stared right into Morgan’s eyes. Morgan gulped silently. “Everyone’s been worried about you,” he said with concern. Morgan completely turned to face Sonic. “I said I’d be back in a couple hours.” “You’ve been gone for more than a couple hours. You’ve been gone for over a day.” “A day?” Morgan asked. Sonic nodded. “A day. Do you realize I’ve been out since dawn looking for you?” Morgan was shocked. “No.” Sonic nodded once again. “Did you really just want to run away like that?” “Sonic, I didn’t realize that I was so far away! I lost track of time!” Sonic stood there as if he was frozen. Morgan looked at him once again. “What?” “You sound,” he paused for a long time, “different.” He paused again. “Something’s bothering you.” Morgan’s mind flashed back to the sight of the young child. She shook her head slowly. “Nothing’s bothering me,” she lied. “Okay.” Sonic knew she was lying, but he refused to argue with her. Morgan looked at Sonic once again. Her sparkling blue eyes pierced right into Sonic’s green eyes. Morgan didn’t understand. There was something about Sonic that was different. “Something’s bothering you,” she quoted. “I’ve been worried. I might’ve lost a good friend.” Morgan knew immediately after what Sonic said, that there was definitely something about him that Morgan didn’t see. “Sonic,” she spoke quietly in her head. “Morgan?” Sonic asked in concern. Morgan couldn’t help herself. She lunged toward the blue blur, and tightly embraced him on impulse. Sonic’s eyes widened, and he couldn’t help but slightly blush. This wasn’t something that he was expecting to happen. He allowed Morgan to keep in the embrace for a while. After a couple seconds, he couldn’t help but put his right arm around her. “We need to get home,” he said quietly in Morgan’s ear. Morgan moaned a little bit as she finally let go of Sonic. “Okay,” she mumbled. She couldn’t help but yawn. “You haven’t slept, have you?” “I have!” she said through another big yawn. Sonic shook his head. “Don’t lie.” “Fine! I didn’t! But what do you expect me to do now?” Sonic turned his back to her and crouched down. “Get on my back. I’ll carry you home.” Morgan wanted to refuse. However with how tired she was and the fact that she just hugged Sonic made her accept the demand, and slowly got up on Sonic’s back. Sonic stood up and held Morgan up so she wouldn’t fall. “I guess I could start out slow.” Sonic said as he started walking. Morgan planted her head on Sonic’s right shoulder. Her head tilted to the left, using Sonic’s head as a pillow. Morgan slowly closed her eyes. “Sonic?” she mumbled. “Yeah?” Sonic replied. “If you ever tell anybody about this, I’ll kill you.” After she spoke, she immediately fell asleep. ~*End Chapter*~ |
