Title: I was hungry,
guns go bang! - December 1, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
So I ate the advertisements. Tasted delicious.
supertails07 - December 1, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
I'm not so sure if that was such a good idea...
guns go bang! - December 1, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
Why not? That advertisement with the smilieys or whatever was starting to get on my nerves. o_O
Iceguy - December 1, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
I thought it was against Invisionfree“s rules to remove them?

Though, knowing crys, he's probably just using some code to strip them since he's such a good coder
guns go bang! - December 1, 2008 07:24 PM (GMT)

Wow thank you Crys, that was sure nice of you. :)
Erikku - December 1, 2008 07:57 PM (GMT)
We posted a tutorial a looooonnnngggg time ago on how to remove advertisements. Just use FireFox + Adblock Plus. Simple.

And not everyone uses Firefox, as also stated a loonnng time ago. I happen to be one of those who don't, and honestly, it sucks to hear that stupid smiley advertisement every 3 seconds in the off chance you don't have FF and adblock.
But, if that works for ya, no complaints here man. Keep doing that. :T0:
Erikku - December 1, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
Well then...
Seeing for some odd reason you wouldn't use the official browser of TTFF (keyword Fox lol) you could do the second suggestion which is block ads through your HOSTS file.

Whatever works for ya. I simply thought it would be more convienant. =P
And, never assume that any site has an official browser, as most all of them will display the site differently in some way. FF3 is more W3C compliant and displayed some pieces of the place incorrectly at times (One part had to be stripped completely.) While IE tends to be common because it comes bundled with windows. Some people here use Opera, as well.
So in case you don't feeling like messing with any of the files in your System32 folder, or don't want to install FF, I just thought this would be nice for a while. Though i'm not saying that there arn't better ways to cure the prob. Link to the topic, please? Because I didn't even know that topic exsisted in the first place.
Missy - December 1, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
Good job ^^ I'm one to congratulate you =3
Kotetsu - December 1, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
Crys went out of his way to help TTFF and spent $10 and you're all like "OH USE FIREFOX AND ADBLOCK IT'S FREE", Erikku?
That's not very nice, is it?
Erikku - December 1, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
As I said the topic was oooolllldddd (like I can't find it LOL)
Ya I get bothered by the whole people using Internet Exploder thing. All I know is that it sucks on my end and I don't get why people won't use FireFox or at least Opera. ^^;
Edit: I assume everyone knew how to block the Board ads.

Now why should only one word in TTFF be a key word there?
Why not the first 3?! :T11:
AugieD - December 1, 2008 08:29 PM (GMT)
Quick question since I admin a IF board, did you use PayPal or TrailPay to do the ad removal?
knnywood364 - December 1, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
I was using Firefox until it started to F up majorly.
Roronao - December 1, 2008 09:46 PM (GMT)
I use Firefox because 'tis the browser that fits me the most. After Explorer got the '07 update and the Live Search *crowd shudders* it started crapping up. I used it before the update.
And as for eating the ads, thanks, I was starting to get hungry too. Thanks for sparing us the ten dollars. THESE DANG MENUS ARE TOO OVERPRICED!
Mazcaeks - December 1, 2008 10:27 PM (GMT)
As long as the forum is at no risk, thank yee Crys. V generous of yee.
I use IE atm becuase FF seemed to crash my laptop once in every 3 times I used it. it only makes sense to use a browser that wouldn't.
Cute lil Fox - December 1, 2008 10:38 PM (GMT)
Awwwwww, thanks Guns Go Bang, a nice holiday gift for us. ^^

Red Fox - December 1, 2008 10:50 PM (GMT)
A little late but I agree. That smiley ad was expensive. I owe you much thanks. & as for using Firefox or Opera. some people are just to poor to afford an up to date computer. I'm lucky enough to have a computer....I'm using windows ME edition computer....so using Firefox 7 Opera is impossible. My comp can't support it so what guns go Bang did....Is very very much appreciated....living on a retired army soldiers payroll....not much at all anymore....worse when nowere near military base. $3.00 for bread!? Aye...there goes 2 days worth of food...So again than you so much Guns go bang... :T11:

We know Crys is not Mr Krabs now! I mean TEN BUCKS DUDE! That's like... dinner for one or something. Congrats on finally getting rid of those dumb advertisements. ^^

Because it is a horrible Internet service, and I like the Internet Explorer interface better.

All we need next is a domain. <3
guns go bang! - December 2, 2008 09:39 PM (GMT)
Well, it may seem cheap to only pitch in 10 bucks (For all of you sarchastically joking at that.. xD), but this was only an experimentation. I want to see how long that will have the ads removed for and if its beneficial in any substantial way.
H.Ashes - December 3, 2008 05:31 PM (GMT)
Are you sure ads are part of a healthy diet? I've heard they have a lot of carbs. :T14:
Kotetsu - December 4, 2008 02:14 AM (GMT)
They're definitly junk food.
And too many could kill a person easily.
Xavier The Fox - December 5, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
One of my friends died that way D:
He was choked to death on Shoe ads...
~*Minty*~ - December 5, 2008 05:37 AM (GMT)
Ahem. There is a topic. Now, if you don't mind, please step to the left, and get back on it. ^^
Xavier The Fox - December 6, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
Anyways...
I'm glad, I always get the most disturbing ads when I log in...
sonic32 - December 8, 2008 11:36 PM (GMT)
