I had an idea for a new Sonic game. Similar to Genesis games, just 3-D. It's long, but imagine this game as you read it, it's worth your while. Sonic has made a step in the right direction with Sonic Unleashed, if not for the Werehog.
It should be like the Sonic Unleashed Day Time stages for gameplay. These Day Time Stages kept things alive for Sonic Unleashed. It's what got the game it's basic rating. 7 stages, 14 acts, a Special Stage in every Act II to gain a Chaos Emerald.
More Details:
-NO STORYLINE!!!
-NO NEW CHARACTERS!!!
-Selected amount of missions for the Stage that can be played outside of the main-game, and during a Stage Select Screen similar to the screen from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the Gamecube.
-Bosses are held at the end of Act II which lead to an "Act III" so to speak.
-Bosses are running bosses. These keep boss battles interesting and fast-paced.
-Stage("Zone") ideas along with boss ideas:
Stage I: City or Urban Area: A normal kind of Car that can lay Oil Slicks and Tacks to slow you down. It can be hit anytime as long as you can get to it.
Stage II: Jungle Area: A gorilla robot that will swing threw trees and throw 'Banana Bombs'. You can use the trees to Triangle Jump to the Gorilla-bot.
Stage III: Aquatic Area: Sonic runs along a strip of land with water on both sides. Of course the boss is a fish. It splashes water up to hurt Sonic. It can dive out of the water for it's Special Attack and then it can be vulnerable.
Stage IV: Icy Area: A giant Polar Bear. This boss you run around it in circles. It shoots Snow that freezes you for awhile. It'll claw and you use the Homing Attack to stop the arm. Then you run up it and attack the Polar Bear.
Stage V: Temple Area/Heavy Platforming Area: A flying robot, somewhat of a Pheonix maybe. It's in the center as you run up a spiraling road. You damage it a few times and at the top you run up, down, and along the sides of the Temple. You attack it as it charges it's special attack, a large breathe of fire.
Stage VI: Construction/Lava Area: A Lava Golem or entity that is formed from the area, and not from Eggman. You can't fight it, but can only outrun it and dodge it's attacks. Serves more like another level Act, except in some parts of the escape, it'll pop up and launch it's attacks at you.
Stage VII: Egg Base: A cliche'd Eggman Battle bot with lots of attacks and weapons. It's a very big robot, so when you go to attack it while running on some sort of strip of land, you run up the actual robot and dodge attacks.
-Final Battle: Held after Stage 7: Act III boss. You can only fight this boss if you have all the Chaos Emeralds from the Special Stages. I haven't figured out what kind of level it could be held at. But it's a large repeat of all the bosses you fought. If you die, you return to the beginning of the boss you're on so you don't have to repeat them all. At the end is a new boss which is like a giant flying Dragon. It swirls with 7 glowing essence that can fill it and it uses the Special Attack of the color of the boss it resembles. When it's half damaged, it uses it's own attacks. After this boss is defeated, it'll transform to a more sinister looking Dragon. This is wear you use the Chaos Emeralds.
Now, where will the Super Sonic fight take place? In Space? NO! Every Supersonic fight has been held in some weird otherworldly dimension, post-apoctolyptic environment or a cliche'd Space fight. Time to change that up. This one is over the Ocean. It's attack varies in powerful missile and fire strikes. It's another chase battle where the Sonic Boost is transformed into the Supersonic Dash. You attack where Eggman's cockpit is, located in the forehead of the Dragon. This time around you can fire Rings like some sort of Energy Blast, but this will deplete your rings quicker. It can be used to damage Eggman slightly, but mainly for deflecting certain attacks.
-Bonus Features: Supersonic usable outside of the Final Battle. (Something Sonic Fans have truly been waiting for.)
Mini-games: Some added Mini-games where other Sonic players can be used.
-No random pointless cursing, Werehog, crappy Princesses, weird Italian Plumbers, Tennis Rackets, or random pieces of Metal that somehow can fly.
That's how much I've thought of it for now. If I can think of anything else, I'll add along to the list. Now people, imagine a game like this. I think it serves as a great Sonic game.
But with Sonic & the Black Knight, let's hope a sword is what Sonic needs for a comeback. If not, I'm afraid it's Game Over and no more Continues to save him...
Wow. This really gives the feel for those old Genesis Sonic games but with a fresh twist. I'm not sure about the last sentence but whatever. You really thought this out, basically like a 3D version of Sonic 1 as you put it. Cause that's pretty much where Sonic Team need to refresh. Those ideas are very interesting, made good points, and put in things that many Sonic Fans would enjoy. Although wouldn't a little storyline be okay, just so long as it doesn't have a huge impact on the game so far, nothing cliche' like 06 even though that was pretty cool.
They should hire you for Sonic Team. XD
I feel though it's a bit TOO generic. I might think up a mild plot eventually.
SONIC MUST STAY 2D CUZ 3D SONIC IZ FAIL!!!!111 D:
Make it a ROM hack, because the idea is pretty good for an old school Sonic game and I´m pretty sure the guys at Sonic Retro will like it. They might even give you help if you ask for it. =P
I can't actually make the game. No software for it. >>'
Well, at
Sonic Retro there are available ROM hacking tools for download, but the site seems to be offline now.
EDIT: I just noticed the game is supposted to be 3D. Sorry.
