So do you watch Dubbed or subbed anime? I watch both. It all depends whats been dubbed or who/how its been dubbed. Some dubbed Anime really suck.

Actually, my favorite series [[Soul Eater]] ish subbed, dubbed version isn't scheduled to release until Autumn.

Most of the animes I watch, I watch the dub- Ouran, Naruto, Death Note, etc... I only watch like three subbed versions, only because if there IS an English dub version, I can't seem to find it.

Dubbed. I find the subbed versions to be annoying and not funny =/ (if you're talking about the fan-made ones that are made with very little effort)

I prefer dubbed, it's funnier and more dramatic not to read what they're saying most of the time. (Except in the case of Cosmo's death that is.)

I prefer Subbed. Preferrably fan-subs. Even if fan-subs aren't translated properly, They're funnier than with the correct translation! I prefer subs because they don't edit it. FUNimation have good voice actors, But they still cut out songs! They leave the original music in, But for some reason cut the singing. I don't like that.

I actually like the subbed versions the best. I just have a love for hearing people talk in other languages. x3 Its so cool. Plus you know that nothings been changed from the original.

Yeah, but its good how some dub companies keep everything and I hate how some cut a lot out and change it all. Examples I can watch

Naruto: Both
Death Note: Sub
Bleach: Both
Tokyo Mew Mew: Sub

I usually watch either one when it comes to anime. Of course, subs are more often better, especially with some of the companies that license anyway...4Kids One Piece=Worst anime EVER!!!

I agree, I dont really watch many 4 Kids dubs, I watch one of their dubs, I have no choice really atm

I just watch subs on the computer. I like the original voices one heck of a lot better, especially Luffy's for the Japanese. Not saying Funimation does a bad job, they've actually done great, but since it's just such a task trying to find a VA for him, the original's better IMO. For the rest of my anime, I enjoy both. Like, for DB and DBZ, I enjoy Funimation more, but for something like Gundam, I can enjoy both with relative ease.

On Sonic X I prefer Sub a lot more, because 4 kids really did screw up a lot of the dubbing...

Hmm, think I'll input my two cents.

My standing between subs and dubs is kind of neutral, although I guess you could say I lean more towards dubs (but am also open to subs). They are both a presentation of the given story. If a particular show or movie (rare) is dubbed, then all the more better to listen to the one I am familiar with hearing. If, in the unfortunate event an anime or movie is not localized, then I would look for subs.

In regards to "keeping to the original," I find that difficult on many accounts to do when translating anything (in my own opinion). When you translate from a foreign language, you have to substitute one word (theirs) into your native tongue. Some words (or sentences), however, are not easily translatable. This leads to the question of the ages: should we (as a company) substitue this for another somewhat similar word or sentence? Or should we leave the word in question alone and hope our audience knows what it means? Most likely the company would want a broad audience to understand what is being said, so they would substitue out words. This also happens to names, though nowadays it's a practice that's becoming less and less common.

The hardest of all to translate would probably be: internet memes, puns, poems and rhyming poems. It takes hard to work to bring a foreign series to another land. This is why I am open to the two. I may get annoyed here and there when a voice actor is kind of... eh, not great at capturing the role, but I get over that quickly. It's not big a deal when though about (all said in my opinion, of course).

The original voices are always performed better.

Fate Stay Night I liked the dubbed better. In Bleach, the subbed is better. Death Note, ever really heard the subbed one so dubbed. It all depends really, I like both I guess. Though, then their subbed, I have to read it quickly and try to look at whats going on at the same time, rather then just listening and watching. So, it all depends like I stated.

I like the Dubs, because no matter how great the Japanese performance of a character is, I can't understand them...and I don't really mind reading subtitles in moderation, but not for an entire show...especially if there is a dubbed version.

I personally prefer subbed, mainly because the few animes/movies that I watch that are Japanese, the dubbing sometimes will suck, though it does more often than not. Even so, most of the animes that I'm into are dubbed by 4Kids, and I can't stand their annoying habit of shoving as many puns into the script as possible... >_<
